One thing your videos, courses, and master class have taught me is that usually when there's a problem, it's ME causing it. Knowing that has absolutely made all the difference. Just this morning I was working with my U2, and his behavior changed on a dime from one moment to the next. I paused for a moment and thought "what did I just do?" I thought I had been working without the target stick, but realized I'd been holding it in my hand and I'd just set it down. My U2 was willing to interact with the harness (we're harness training) while I was holding the target stick off to the side, but the second I put it down, he was done with it. So, I picked it back up, and he was game to interact with it again. If not for you guys, I never would have put that together.

I absolutely love this! So relatable as this happens to all of us. If we just take a step back and look at the whole picture there is many times just a small tweak that can improve the response we are getting from our bird.

Great video!! We’re always so quick to blame the animal instead of first carefully examining what WE’RE doing!! I’ve learned to watch my bird for what I call User Error, something I did or didn’t do to confuse him or annoy him. I’ve discovered an unwanted response or behavior is almost ALWAYS User Error! 😬😆

I currently don't own a ringneck, but they are my favourite birds! They are so quirky and highly attentive! And their voices are so cute. Sometimes they are just too eager and quick in spotting the slightest bit of bodylanguage change and we don't even realise it. Other than my birds who don't even realise when I leave the room sometimes and then start asking "where did you go" and coming to look for me lol

I have an Indian ringneck. I’ve had him since he was 3 weeks old. Everything was amazing for a long time until we had a very bad hurricane hit us. That one entire storm destroyed our bond. (I was trying to save all my birds when the hurricane hit) my ringneck was the only one that did not want to go and when lightening hit over us I had kinda screamed because it scared me so badly and it scared him to. Now no matter what I do my bird will not have anything to do with me at all. He is obsessed with my husband though. He wants to murder my hands or anything else he can get on me. Might I add I already taught him recall training. But after that hurricane things have been horrible! How in the world can I get him to love me again!?!

I have a 2 months old pineapple conure, i had it when it was still weaning. I'm trying to target and station train it because i dont really want my conure to jump around in its cage for it's safety and i don't wish for it to fly out of my house but whenever i'm training it, it seems distracted by other people in my house. Do i need to be alone with it to train it properly and for it to be fully focused on me? And how long do i need to target train it to really drill it to my conure.

I think you mean green cheek conure, but yes start training alone with no distractions. The amount of time it takes to drill anything in depends on the individual bird. But start training alone and when you feel confident the training is going well(could be a week, month, could only take a few days) then maybe have only one person in the background and build up. If training is going not so well, then go back a step, stay there for however long it takes, then try moving up again.
