Now That's Midschool Ep 7 - Solid Bikes Killing Machine/Euro Killing Machine/KP Ripper Compare

- Whilst attending a Midschool event recently, I got the chance to do a side-by-side comparison of the Solid Bikes gen 2 Killing Machine and Matt Nicklen's Euro Killing Machine/KP Ripper. I took a deep dive into the internet and my own collection of magazines to get my facts straight, only to come out of the other end with not much more confidence in defining the two Euro BB equipped frames definitively! Not much help To Matt Nicklen. Kevin Porter was/is his all time favourite rider, hence why he picked the frame up recently.
So yeah, a quick video going through the obvious difference between the two and using images from the internet, looking at what I suspect are KP Rippers.
Sources used for the research, were Ride BMX, Ride UK, Chase BMX, BMX Action/Faction BMX magazines and the Bay BMX Blogspot thebaybmx.blogspot.com/2011/0...
Special thanks to Matt Nicklen @entitybmxshop99 and @therodians for the music once again! Check out their channels for really good BMX and music content!
Great video, I always wanted a Wasp back in the day. I remember seeing the frame 20+ years ago and thinking it was all round perfect
Yeah, they were super cool looking frames, but then, I don't think Solid did a bad looking frame ever! Thanks for watching!
You may or may not be able to see my shoes in this video!
Damn it was cold that morning and my terrible wardrobe choice made it even worse… 🤣
Cool vid dude
Haha!! Nobody's looking at the shoes, thankfully!! Thanks for watching.....out for tootsies! 🤣🙏
Lovely vid Matt! Great bit of research ❤️🤘
Thanks Matt. Couldn't have done it without you! Fingers crossed that Aaron puts this to bed soon!
Super sick. So glad there’s still love for solid. I missed out when they were closing shop. They had 21” brown portlanders for like $250. I was wrong to think I’d just buy one later. Luckily I still have my V1 king cobra.
Yeah, the Solid stuff is pretty special by any measure in my opinion. And that always the way. Sometimes, there is no tomorrow. 🤷🏼♂️
another awesome video Matt 💯💯💯💯👍👍
Thanks man! Make hay while the sun shines! And how often is it that you get a chance like the one I had?? "Celestial miracle"! Hahaha!!!
kind of have my own in a sense i own 1995 GT performer (late year model) it's the first of it's kind to have 990 rear mounts but still be a 1995 GT Performer, the early model had cantilever rear brakes 👍👍@@nowthatsmidschool
Nice one Matt.
🙏🙏🙏
I have a white 21" of this frame in question, its a KP RIPPER which became the Killing Machine euro.
Hey, thanks for reaching out. All becomes clear in the short episode 7.1. 👌
I have a Killing Machine Euro that I recently stumbled on
Nice! They're out there to be found. Just take a minute to pour over the detailing on those things!
Love the content had a question. I recently purchased what i was told was a solid wasp frame for 40 bucks. I believe its a king kobra but im not sure it 21 inch top tube and has a lightning bolt plate on down tube only no plate on top tube so not sure
That sounds like a Wasp. They didn't have a top tube gusset and the downtube gusset did have a cut-out. Less lie lightening bolt and more like a two triangles joined vertically? Does that sound more like it? The dropouts were also more angular in shape, compared to the KMs.
Aye aye
Aye!! 😉🤣
Hi from 🇨🇦 eh i own few soids .bars. Frames ..to killing machines. Head sets
