The temp of rain in SoCal seems to be just what the doctor ordered. Just enough to bring much-needed moisture, but not enough for slides or flooding. Thank you for the review!
Looked at the headlines saying mud lines in California and then read the article said there’s potential. You said exactly what I had just said to my husband. The headlines were very misleading. We’re actually down in SoCal area visiting our son. Heading back up this morning, so glad to hear we won’t have nasty weather.
Thanks for all of the updates. I really appreciate the detail. I've had an interest in meteorology for.. well, more than 50 years now. I remember watching Channel 3 back in the day with Harry Giese and Tom Duhain. I also remember a comment you once made, while showing a time-lapse of the fog rolling in around the Sutter Buttes, how the atmosphere behaves like a liquid. With that in mind I've also found it interesting to watch clouds as they roll by and how they resemble ocean waves and the differences in the clouds at different altitudes in the atmosphere. My question - and maybe a suggestion for a segment - is what are the different types of clouds that we see, and what does their formation indicate in terms of the weather. Thanks again Mark. Have a great day. ;)
Thanks Mark!! Hope!! We hope for more rain and snow as we head into February! Here at my house in the San Bernardino Mountains, overnight we received 4" of snow at he 4600' level. At the 6500' level 13"s of snow fell in the Running Springs area. Hoping for much more as we are way behind our normal totals for this time of year. 👍👍😉🧙🏼♂
Good morning Mark, and fellow weather watchers. First of all Mark, congratulations for hitting 15,000 subscribers. As of 9:05 am it's ☀️ and 41° at the Orchard Cottage Weather Center in Oakdale, CA. Dew Point 37°. Humidity 86%. Winds out of SSE at 2 mph. Gusts of 2 mph. Barometer 29.90 rising. Morning low 29° with frost on the roofs. We received 0.21" of rain last Saturday and Sunday. Our January total at Orchard Cottage is 0.51". Bill
Thank you for the link, Mark. Registered today & and we're going to make a weekend off it in Placerville. Also, thank you for the hope of rain in the future.
.04 inches here in Cathedral City (near Palm Springs, CA). Mark, after 77 years living here in the desert, I feel you are missing a chance to teach some of your younger viewers about skin cancer. I've battled it for 50 years due to living and working in the desert sunshine (350 days a year). Since I flew and drove a lot, mostly on my left side. FYI ! Keep up the good work !!
In the Sonora/Jamestown neck of the woods, we got around a half inch of rain Saturday afternnoon into the evening. And it was cold rain. Looks like maybe the storm door is opening once again.
Southern California will have below average precipitation this season after two years of being well above average but it would be nice to have a rainy finish to the season.
Mark. Please use the term “debris flows.” Mud flows are a misnomer. Mud flows sound slow moving and localized. Debris flows are fast moving and long ranging. When you see one on video, they almost look like a river of concrete, 50% water and 50% solids, moving faster than a person can ride a bicycle. These are the events that kill people in Southern California during post-fire storms. Thanks. -Retired CALFIRE hydrologist.
Hope youre feeling better! Burning off that bad stuff is essential! I am so pale I am surprised I havent had more issues. The good thing is that cream that burns off your skin takes ten years off your age! If that is a blessing in disguise. 😂👍👍❤
I love the character, Andy Dufresne, from both the story and movie.😊 Yay, ARs! Thank you, Mark!
Thanks Mark! I've enjoyed the sunshine and moderate temps, but it is time to put some water in the bank. Hope you are healing well!
You ARE the best, Mark. Thanks for your diligence and treating us kindly

After a promising start to our rain season let`s "hope" fantasy land can salvage what`s left of the season.Fingers crossed Mark.

I think that's an excellent question. I like to see Mark's answer to that. Bill
Thanks Mike. That is a good question and maybe a topic I can cover on a slow day
Yay, rain 🌧️ coming

Oakdale has modesto beat… I only got a couple drops on rain gauge… .02 last weekend. About 3” total for the year

Thank you Mark. Hoping for a quick recovery.

In Mariposa county we got .75 inch of rain Saturday evening and 2 inches of snow. Ít did not rain for very long but heavy with large drops and dense.
Thank you Mark!
All we can do is hope & pray.
I watch, in part, to see your lovely smile. Still, take your time until you are ready to show your mug
Hope IS a good thing!!!!
I got my tickets for your winery event!
For 99.9999% of Southern California mudslides are not a fear. Bring on the rain please as drought hits more of us and many disaportionally
Thanks Mark! Hope that future 540 line will have some low snow!
One of my favorite movies!
It was a long weekend with no forecasts by Mark!
What is the intensity of the AR that’s coming?
👍

It WOULD be great if Newsome SAVED that water!
from GOD!
Im just hoping we GET rain and that its a reasonable fire year overall.
I have not minded the dry spell, it keeps the freeway construction on Hwy 50 going. I will be glad when that is complete.

Pretty face 😅🤪
Just washed my car yesterday so we're good to go, no need to thank me 🫡
Cool!! Now come wash mine, please? 🤪
