2015 Seadoo spark with vts Long lake ny Lake hopatcong nj Broke the plastic wear ring ripped the jetski apart filed down the prop and replaced the wear ring
Good diagnosis. Many people would’ve probably tried continuing driving for the entire weekend when you did the smart thing and pretty much taxi it to the dock and check it out.
Just put my brand new ‘21 Spark in the water yesterday sucked up a small piece of 1/8” plastic and screwed the wear ring, only 14 MINUTES on the clock!!! How often do these things get damaged? With so much crap floating in waterways now, seems like you could do this every week! I’m in Ontario Canada, lots of fresh water waterways the “appear” realatively clean?
So I'm generally up in the adirondack lakes near Canada. It does seaweed even lilies fine. My rule of thumb is if you wouldn't have a inboard/outboard motor running in that depth don't have the jetski running. If your cruising 3ft+ If your idle or slow with the ass down and nose up 5ft+ water. I haven't had to replace the wear ring since this video by following these rules. Don't start it shallow and don't slow down shallow. It kicks up little rocks off the lake surface they float up a few feet and the spark can suck them right up.
I don't know GTXs. They may have stainless rings instead of plastic. So the impeller would go first. If there's a problem with the wear ring there's almost always a loss of torque. May not be that noticeable though.
Lol my wear ring looked exactly the same. Mine broke at around 28 hours, it was partially my own fault, shallow water start. I also ended up replacing the empaller with solas. Jetski has so much torque now, wow. Top speed is still the same, 49.
Nice. I just picked up a 15 with 25hrs on it. Jacked up the wear ring right after the first launch after I bought it. Sucked up some rocks close to shore. Totally my f---ck up. Have put a few hrs on it, and it running great. How many total hours on yours? Have read so many people having issues with the shaft/PTO drive on the older Sparks.
These things are such pieces of shit all plastic wear rings but light and fun if you love going slow. You mine as well spend the $7k on a dp for a yamaha or kawasaki
I mean mine does 120km/hr after I got it tuned. It’s a 135hp engine that is governed at 90hp. They’re quick machines and are the best bang for your buck on the market. But a Yamaha if you want a heavy boat that doesn’t work 😂😂

Thanks for the video man big help👍
Great video, i just inspected mine and it has a chunk taken out of the wear ring. Can’t wait for summer now
Did u only replace the ring? What about the impeller
Yes I only replaced the ring just filled down the impeller.

You’re definitely gonna find yourself spending a lot of money on wear rings

My seadoo gtx started vibrating really bad from impeller to engine. Heard slight grinding noise. Do you think that may be wear ring?

Do you know what it is now? Had a similar experience yesterdays and now I’m fearing the driveshaft is broken.
Hey, did you had to replaced the prop?
i had the exact same problem on the lake
Ours did it twice already.
How many hours did you have on that wear ring? Great video!
Only 20 hours. 😅
I had 40 on stock ring

I only had 6 hours 😤
@@moralespowerwashing3121 my brother have to change it at 2 hours
Pulled in a stone it happens not the seadoo fault at least the pump and prop were ok

Only 20 hours
Plus 3 hours on the new wear ring
Only 28 hours on mine and the wear ring is caught in the impeller 🤦♂️
