    I had several fully grown beautiful flowering along my fence.. Then neighbors got dogs and asked me to cut them out 😭😒. I did but have others on my property away from them. A beautiful apricot colored multi-petaled flower that looks like a baby rose...
    It gives me so much pleasure and it's staying put 😊💜😄

    Some people are in denial, but oleander is poisonous...so, please don't munch on the leaves. In the Old South Plantation days, it was also used as a poison for a variety of reasons. Anyway, I think Oleander is really over-rated as an ornamental...but, it is very easy to grow if you have to cover some fence or other oddball object at the edge of your properties. Just not along the main areas where people like to congregate. My opinion.

      yep, great plant for border coverage along a fence, especially because there is basically no maintenance.

      No kidding! I went to this plantation house in Louisiana where one of the slave girls killed the owner's children and wife with Oleander 150 years ago.

    How much should I water it in Phoenix in the summer?

      Deep water around the root ball about every 2-3 days...depends on how hot and dry it is. If it gets too much water, the leaves may begin to yellow, though. If would try a super good soak every 3 days to see how the plants do.

    Does it have nectar??? I mean, is it useful for humming Birds or is it poisonous to Bird and bees.
    Any idea 💡?

      Oleanders don't have nectar, sort of strange. So, they don't attract your bird pollinators. And it is also toxic to the birds. To pollinate, they "trick" the bees into visiting the flowers (although nothing for them to eat), then the sticky pollen attaches to them. So, to me, Oleander is sort of a lame plant, but super easy to grow in the desert areas.

      You will be fine. but if you get some irritation, you should try to put some household medicine on it. some people are more sensitive than others.

    How can I hybridize this plant

    • @battlefoxx
      @battlefoxx  2 роки тому +1

      I think so, but it would have to be trial and error. Try to mix the pollen from the one plant to another of a different variety....you'll have to be really patient, though. Professional nurseries have hybridized it already.

      you would have to ask a doctor....or some professional on the internet. older cultures used the exterior stems and bark for things like swelling and sores...but, i cannot say (or not say). Good luck.
