Thanks Kennis! This is exactly what I needed for my new MIDI violin and GR-55, what a huge help!
The best explanation about a real use of the drum kits in GR55. Great job and thank you so much. Greetings from 🇧🇷.
Pro trick: you can watch movies on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching lots of of movies lately.
@Bobby Emory definitely, I've been watching on Flixzone} for since december myself :)
Love u, i really needed, after searching for 2 days i found it. Thank you
Great info!! Thank you so much. Now I now I’m buying it. Would love a vid about the loop function. Thanks again 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Awesome! I also Have the XTSA .
The alt tunings (-24 -18 -2 -1 +7 +14) really make sense of it!
Hey, I enjoy your presentation. I was wondering if I can contact you to get information on how to learn the capabilities of this machine and steps how to do. I will appreciate the reply thanks.
Thnks Kennis! Got my GR-55 a couple of weeks ago and it may be the most versatile effects unit I've ever owned. I especially love the tuning options and the brass sounds but have only scratched the surface!!! Thanks for the great vids! They informed me a lot when making my purchase! :-)
Just what I was looking for. Thanks for taking the time to do this, man.
How do you get to the drum section in the first place?
great lesson. nice solution to otherwise baffling drum layout on fretboard
Hello,
Just wanted to thank you for your reviews. I am new to synth. Been playing country for years but never dreamed what can be done as a one man band. You made the GR-55 very very user friendly. You have a great command of your equipment and the way you teach is very understandable. I would be interested in hearing some country cover songs to do live one man bands.
Also I would compliment you and hope that Boss is paying you for your tutorials. I have not seen as complete a tutorial as yours.
thank you. Looking forward to more from you!!
Kennis Russell haha right?!
Kennis Russell forreal though this is awesome man thank you for the time you take. I'm extremely involved in the pedal world and your effect videos are great.
Hi Kennis, I watched this video recently after buying a Roland ready stratocaster and GR55, and I play / jam with a keyboard player who has a Yamaha Synthesiser, and I noticed that he is able to trigger the drum rhythm (comprisingKick Snare Cymbals etc) when he either hits a control button or hits a particular note on the keyboard and that triggers the drums. Your video seems to focus on the GR55 guitar player essentially being the drummer. Since this video was made in 2011 have you found any way of triggering the drums as I described above. I really want to thank you for putting so many good tutorials on how to use the GR55 they are all really useful. Thanks Chris
Thanks once again Kennis, awesome sounds and superb video yet again. I saw someone using a jazz patch which included drums, so I assume that they must have played whatever arbitary drums sounds were assigned to the melody notes? Picking must be best when using drums and another pcm sound as playing a full chord would trigger six drum sounds at the same time. Great use would be for adding more natural sounding fills to basic drum machine beats. Thanks for doing a great job on all your videos!
I'm working with, it's great, thanks for share and greetings from Vienna, Guenter.
I like the dance kits thanks for demonstrating those drums, machine kit I'd imagine it's based off of drum machine kit possibly calling it machine kit
Hello Kennis, I really appreciate your explanations on the GR-55; but how do I even get to the drums at all? I just got one, and I don't see any otions for that.
Thanks, George
Yes, circling back to answer a few of the questions [like this one] would be a helpful feature of the channel for sure!
Thank you for all these tones review : It was helpfull for me to hear through all the presets (including those on other videos). Important thing : the demo was really about the sound whithout been disturbed by other things like musical arrangement or guitar hero demonstration...
hey dude these videos are great .I noticed that you dont have that clunky plastic thing on your guitar what is it that your using ..is it a gk kit?...also how does this work with soft synths is the midi good for writing songs in logic, garageband, protools etc
Just got mine too and will use it with a BOSS RC505..
I have an idea that I'd like to run by you. You spoke of tuning your string input tones to match up with certain preset sound. I was thinking, couldn't you set up two notes so when you do a pull-off or a hammer on, you could actually achieve some nice 16th open hi-hat sounds? Or, do a 3 note pull off to get that 2 closed 1 open sound...the combos are limited to your own imagination. Or perhaps sliding down the frets on the E can give you a toms fill? Do you think that set up could work for you?
Really appreciate your vids Kennis. Thanks much man. I was wondering about drums (being a new owner of a GR-55) and was HOPING I could set a user preset to be drums for purpose of setting up loops :-). I am wondering if the MIDI will transmit looped MIDI data ... Hmmmm
Great. I need to buy a gr-55. I had one and sold it. My goal is to set up an affordable in home studio for 6000.00. I need luck and advice.Thank you great job. Never new this was available. Shawn-Mpls
I am heaving much problems in play drums with gr 55... Beacause i cant play faster sounds because to many notes are lost in the process... Could you help me with that! Or at least show one full editing patch for rock drums... Thanks, your channel rocks...
Thanks for the video. Do the drums respond to velocity?
Really appreciate your vids thank you bless you
Hey Kennis, I got myself one of those metal stands for my Blues Jr but as soon as it stopped making contact with the floor it was like all the Bass dropped out from under it...not that it has much to begin with...Maybe I'll getn one for my Hot Rod and see if the same happens.
Re GK3 being better, have you changed the pick up setting in the GR-55 to match yours?
Hey hi just got one yeah i know im like 6 yrs behind but awesome tutorial thank you
Can you put the GR 55 directly to the P. A., withoutt using a Guitar Amplifier?
Hi
I'm from Mexico and my dad (cus I actually dont play guitar but he does) just buy the GR 55. He is watching your videos and he wanna know how do you edit the tones and create your own kit as you did on this video.
Thanks for your help :)
Thanks, I'm gonna check them.
Another question, There's no sound when we press the Guitar Button on my GK-3. Do you know why?
Thanks again
You need two outputs from the GR-55. The first one from the GR-55 output jack to your PA - this sends the processed GR-55 signal to your speaker. The other output from the GR-55 guitar out jack to your guitar amp this sends the guitar output directly to your guitar amp. Hope this helps.
I seen that the gk 3 pickup has a 13 pin cable and a 1/4 inch jack. which one do you use from the guitar to the pedal??
Any way you can do a quick vid on how to setup the GR-55 with the Godin XTSA pickup system and calibrate it for that particular guitar? Thanx
Kerrang! Awesome, Kennis! THIS is the stuff we want to know about!
You should make some youtube vids or something! Wait... ok... I'll be quiet now.
But... this is really GOOD stuff :)
does the looper work on normal guitar signal? does it loop audio or only midi notes?
Hello Kennis you can make a video? Which shows how to do it solo gets louder with the gr-55
Thank you for the frank comments!
Hi Kennis.. I just bought the new GR55 and I need to say that I just love it.. But I'm having problems with the Drums.. First of all, How do I get in to play them.. 2nd. I program songs with Cubase 5 and when I load a midi file song, I hear everything but the drums.. Can you help me here because I'm really stuck.. Thanks..
very nice, thank you for this!
What patch are you using to access drum sounds ?
How do i find my drums on gr 55. Because i havent been able to find them , only syth music out of the box new , i can find drums on my gr55
Is it possible to trigger the drum sounds of GR-55 with a Roland Octapad via MIDI connection?
Hi Kennis I have had my GR 55 over 5 years now and recently the exit function stopped working. Any suggestions?
Oh man. I have no idea. I suppose sending in into Roland.
@@kennisrussell Thx for replying I am in Philippines so I dont think thats gonna happen.
hi mate, hey my drums and other sounds sounds mixed with other guitar sounds, I can't detach them from each other, my drums sounds with guitar sounds, do you know how to configure properly this ? thanks
This thing is pricey due to all the features I don't care about. Is there cheaper guitar synthesizer out there that does drum sounds like this one?
I can't find any drum patches in my gr55. How do we access them?
great video :))) great informations :)) thx a lot :))
Hi Dennis,I see you have DRUM on your screen.I have never seen this on my GR55 screen and I've had it for a year.Where do I find this?Thank you,Terry
Thanks Kennis,I will look into it.I also have a Godin it's a Multiac classical, as well as a GK3 on my tele style.Take care and thanks for all your video's.
@@kennisrussell , cool I found them too but they sound with guitar sounds mixed, how can I detach them from the other guitar sounds?
Hi guys, how do you access to the drums funcion on your screen?
scusa per il roland gr 55 consigli una godin nylon sa o una lgxt sa?
Haha, wow, different! Pretty cool!
Is there a way to reduce the latency? It has terrible tracking on mine right now
Do you have a ghost pickup installed for this?
first of all congratulations, all nice videos and nice works, you worked on it too much. but really i wanna know if there is a patch like gr-20; tabla, latin perc. set, conga etc in gr-55 too? i checked my 55, only i meet in patch 898 but it replies only 1-4 frets for string E 1st. how can i get rhytm while i strum? i was playin while with gr-20 but in 55 no way. i asked to Roland, they never replies well, they only knows about "SELL SELL SELL" and yellin out "BUY BUY BUY" roland is really suck, i never prefer again.
can you pls tell me how can i build a latin perc. set? :) i mean, for ex, i do not want clap, symbal like that. i want all strings replies by conga sound. is it possible? thnx by now, regards.
How do you put "drums" on the screen?
Mr kerri how do I get to the drum section?
I think this would be better than a drum machine or Korg electribes. If I had this I would just get a loop pedal and loop the drums for rhythm and wouldn't need a drummer
hey kennis, where do i find and how do i get to the drums
I have the same question pal
Couldn’t you set chromatic to on and help with that
you should try two hand tapping the way Futureman does with the synthaxe in bela flecks band for the drums
it does have percussion kit?
I m new here, I just got my gr 55, how can I find the drums?? I can't find them
Go to edit find PCM1use page to scroll to right then spin dial to the 900s your there
@@Shellifinley Finally,thank you.

I find it hilarious seeing a guitar make drums sounds and whistles. lol

The instructions to use this are not good . There needs to be examples of pushing the right buttons to do the different things .

Utterly, utterly pointless. I defy anyone to use this efficiently and constructively.
What next? Triggering guitar samples from your drum kit, presumably. That would be sensational by comparison.
Do you know if those drums are multi sampled velocities? or are they the same velocity when you play softer
