Shen Qiao is my favorite character (sometimes). He's not a complete softhearted fool who lets criminal go wild nor is he the type to judge others when they do commit murders. He has such a pragmatic point of view towards the world and people its like he's not even human. His opinions and action are never colored by what other people say or what the general public deems appropriate. He's got his own scale and treats people according to that. we need more characters who are so disconnected from peer pressure. The way he's portrayed is just perfect!
Oh there is romance. Maybe not that blatant, but there is. It was really interesting how two of them could be together despite their differences, but it's so satisfying!! Thousand autumns is my fav novel(along with tgcf and the wife is first) and I come back to this story so many times 🥺 also there is a donghua too! (SPOILERS) You both were wondering about Yan Wushi's white in his hair. Later in the book there there is a girl who confesses to Shen Qiao, and he tells her that she should look for someone else because he already 30 years old. The girl asked him "Then how old is he?" pointing to Yan Wushi. Shen Qiao didn't know for sure, but told her that he couldn't be over 50 years old.
Yeah I was thinking based on my limited knowledge of Thousand Autumns that Autumn probably represented things getting worse such as how Autumn in real life is the weather getting colder. So a thousand Autumns would be things continuing to get worse and worse for a long time
I think it’s confirmed that Yan Wushi is ten years older than Shen Qiao, or it’s something that’s connected on its own, I don’t remember. But if I’m right, than Yan Wushi is 40

When I read the novel the first time, I didn't care for Yan Wushi all that much, but as I continued reading I began to really respect him. He is one of the top martial artists (he taught himself martial arts) , he is a political genius, and he can plan strategies and foresee everyone's reactions to whatever plan he has (and they always work). Later he does find Shen Qiao's breaking point, and he regrets it. And also (I'm not sure which book in the English translation this part is in) but when he gets wounded very badly his personality splits into 4. His present personality, the personality of when he was a child, his teenage personality, and one that I am pretty sure is the darkest part of himself. But I absolutely adore the child he used to be, he was the sweetest little boy.

Bai Rong (the girl on the picture) is my personal favorite after A-Qiao (and yep, he's GORGEOUS. Please watch the donghua season 1). As for Yan Wushi, , you are absolutely correct. To put it mildly he IS a bully. His -creepy- flirting reads so much better when you have his voice imprinted in your brain, especially the laugh. Must blame Wu Lei (SQQ's VA. He's also YWS's VA) for that. Do listen to YWS's laugh and calling A-Qiao compilations if you want the full effect. As for why he has white hair, it's 'cause old man Yan is old. Simple as that. 😂
This is one of my favorite books, the author is incredible in describing the fight scenes. In beginning Shen Qiao gave me a XieLian vibe but much more sarcastic, and Yushi is a fun character, I really love the old guy.
0:40 I read this one tapas (an app) and it’s AMAZING. Danmei lovers, this is a great manwhua. I didn’t know there was a novel version though, I’ll read that when I can. The manwhua/comic name on tapas is “this villian emperors gotta charm the male lead to survive” I believe this is the official version but if it’s not please inform me, I would love to support the author.

I read both of these manhwas and they are some of my absolute favorites! The silent concubine now also has basically a sequel with them as older rulers and the younger generation are the main characters now! As for How to survive as a villain: STUNNING! It's basically Scum Villain with lots of twists and a very fun and interesting plot! I definitely recommend both off these! Can't believe they're paperbacks now!!!
Well, yan wushi is even more hot in the dhongua adaption. ughhhhhhhh that voice of his is everything thing and since the audio drama has the same va's as the dhongua i got soooooo flustered while listening to one of the extras that got adapted into the audio drama yan wushis voice is so hot there .it's just amazing. Highly recommend you to watch the dhongua.

Oh right, I believe partially the reason people do not mention that Shen Qiao is blind is that in both the Donghua and the novel, he regains his sight. In fairness, he did lose his sight in the very START of the novel, which also played into how Yan Wushi saw him and how their relationship there began. Let's just say, when Shen Qiao regained his eyesight back... there was some angst between them...

I really love this story, and if you ever get a chance to check out the audio drama, or ESPECIALLY the audio drama mini theaters they area amazing (and you can find them translated on youtube). Yan Wushi's voice actor is 🔥and the mini theaters make me laugh and give me life.
I've been interested/invested in the Danmei fandom since 2019!! For me, MDZS will always be my favorite but I'm currently on page 155 of Thousand Autumns . I love this novel, though not as popular as MXTX's works, it's just as great
I'm SO stoked that this is getting published and more people will read it because it's one of my absolute favorite. I'm a history buff who didn't know much about this period of history and ended up learning SO much. There a few fan translations still floating around that still come with wonderful footnotes and the first fan translation I read a couple years ago had a bunch of footnotes as well. If I manage to track it down or something similar, I'll see if I can link it. But QQ fans tend to keep tight lipped about stuff like that so it doesn't get taken down.
I'm sooooo excited for (possibly?) more Thousand Autumns videos by you guys!! This first look was awesome, but yes, this is a sloooow burn, as the story goes you get to see more layers and how they learn with each other and aaaah, I just love them so much! P.S. IT IS ROMANTIC! :D
omgg i love this book so much I'm happy you guys got to start it I read the unofficial version and even tho it was very confusing at times (btw don't like history) you honestly get the hang of everything the more you read it and it's so beautiful how you get to explore these characters and how their views change but the still stick to their upmost morals and how they get along so perfectly at some point even tho so much hardship happens cause of yan wushi's dumbass but in the end you start to get him and the extras are also so beautiful and honestly gave me so much perspective on their characters!

I was so excited to see this!!! It was hilarious to hear your guesses🤣 I can definitely understand what you were talking about talking about with the lack of major romance scenes but (in my opinion) by the time you get to the culmination of (what I would consider) the first major plot point I think their dynamic gets pretty solidified even if it’s not necessarily romantic, and in some ways I think what really makes their relationship is the way they fit so well together even as their personalities/beliefs clash throughout the story.
If you think you can't understand the novel after a few chapters then try watching the donghua, it helps to understand the story better,then re read it
Yan Wushi is without doubt my favourite character in the danmei books I’ve read so far. I never viewed him as evil. Actually I love Chu Wanning as well from The Husky & his white cat Shizun. I love these two slightly disfunctional men who find it hard to show their true feelings & inner thoughts.

Thousand autumns is so good and pleasing to read. Its very refreshing,there is drama and some suffering but not too much that its soul crushing,and the characters develop well like SQ maturing,he went from slightly naive from living isolated from people,to more assertive and careful,and YWX learning how to trust in humans.❤

i think im so used to being confused at all times that i just absorbed all that i read and accepted it regardless if i even understood it or not. the only reason i stopped reading was because i got too busy.

Yeah, I can imagine that the first volume is literally the tip of the iceberg (unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to read the official translation yet, I rely on the content from the unofficial version). The fact is that the romance is not the main plot point, but to say that there is hardly any of it is also wrong. Shen Qiao and Yan Wushi go through many, MANY hardships and near-death experiences, but once the feelings finally start to emerge, it's incredibly satisfying. As for the silver streak in Yan Wushi's hair, it's just gray because the guy is quite old 😂 A proper daddy I would say

Before Shen Qiao Yan wushi believed theyre were two types of people in the world. Opponents and Ants. Naturally A-Qiao is far more complicated than he could have ever expected picking him up from the bottom of a cliff out of sheer chance. Going quickly from ant to opponent to life partner. I love this book too much.
Here in south america we call Yan Wushi "Velho Saboroso", it can be translated as "Tasty Oldman".

That being said, you two hit the nail on the head so many times in the first guessing game, I'm impressed. Bai Rong (the girl on the picture) is my personal favorite after A-Qiao (and yep, he's GORGEOUS. Please watch the donghua season 1). As for Yan Wushi, , you are absolutely correct. To put it mildly he IS a bully. His -creepy- flirting reads so much better when you have his voice imprinted in your brain, especially the laugh. Must blame Wu Lei (SQQ's VA. He's also YWS's VA) for that. Do listen to YWS's laugh and calling A-Qiao compilations if you want the full effect.
As for why he has white hair, it's 'cause old man Yan is old. Simple as that. 😂
This is one of my favorite books, the author is incredible in describing the fight scenes. In beginning Shen Qiao gave me a XieLian vibe but much more sarcastic, and Yushi is a fun character, I really love the old guy.
0:40 I read this one tapas (an app) and it’s AMAZING. Danmei lovers, this is a great manwhua. I didn’t know there was a novel version though, I’ll read that when I can. The manwhua/comic name on tapas is “this villian emperors gotta charm the male lead to survive” I believe this is the official version but if it’s not please inform me, I would love to support the author.

I read both of these manhwas and they are some of my absolute favorites! The silent concubine now also has basically a sequel with them as older rulers and the younger generation are the main characters now! As for How to survive as a villain: STUNNING! It's basically Scum Villain with lots of twists and a very fun and interesting plot! I definitely recommend both off these! Can't believe they're paperbacks now!!!
Well, yan wushi is even more hot in the dhongua adaption. ughhhhhhhh that voice of his is everything thing and since the audio drama has the same va's as the dhongua i got soooooo flustered while listening to one of the extras that got adapted into the audio drama yan wushis voice is so hot there .it's just amazing. Highly recommend you to watch the dhongua.

Oh right, I believe partially the reason people do not mention that Shen Qiao is blind is that in both the Donghua and the novel, he regains his sight. In fairness, he did lose his sight in the very START of the novel, which also played into how Yan Wushi saw him and how their relationship there began.
Let's just say, when Shen Qiao regained his eyesight back... there was some angst between them...

I really love this story, and if you ever get a chance to check out the audio drama, or ESPECIALLY the audio drama mini theaters they area amazing (and you can find them translated on youtube). Yan Wushi's voice actor is 🔥and the mini theaters make me laugh and give me life.
I've been interested/invested in the Danmei fandom since 2019!! For me, MDZS will always be my favorite but I'm currently on page 155 of Thousand Autumns . I love this novel, though not as popular as MXTX's works, it's just as great
I'm SO stoked that this is getting published and more people will read it because it's one of my absolute favorite. I'm a history buff who didn't know much about this period of history and ended up learning SO much. There a few fan translations still floating around that still come with wonderful footnotes and the first fan translation I read a couple years ago had a bunch of footnotes as well. If I manage to track it down or something similar, I'll see if I can link it. But QQ fans tend to keep tight lipped about stuff like that so it doesn't get taken down.
Stitch is a gd reading machine. I wish I could operate at a fraction of her reading power. Mad respect.

omgg i love this book so much I'm happy you guys got to start it I read the unofficial version and even tho it was very confusing at times (btw don't like history) you honestly get the hang of everything the more you read it and it's so beautiful how you get to explore these characters and how their views change but the still stick to their upmost morals and how they get along so perfectly at some point even tho so much hardship happens cause of yan wushi's dumbass but in the end you start to get him and the extras are also so beautiful and honestly gave me so much perspective on their characters!

I can definitely understand what you were talking about talking about with the lack of major romance scenes but (in my opinion) by the time you get to the culmination of (what I would consider) the first major plot point I think their dynamic gets pretty solidified even if it’s not necessarily romantic, and in some ways I think what really makes their relationship is the way they fit so well together even as their personalities/beliefs clash throughout the story.
If you think you can't understand the novel after a few chapters then try watching the donghua, it helps to understand the story better,then re read it

This was my first ever Danmei book and some of the chapters did surprise me with the subtle romance, however the human hunting chapter was WEIRD.

Thousand autumns is so good and pleasing to read. Its very refreshing,there is drama and some suffering but not too much that its soul crushing,and the characters develop well like SQ maturing,he went from slightly naive from living isolated from people,to more assertive and careful,and YWX learning how to trust in humans.❤
in the animated series it has a hand scene and i have no idea how it got past censorship

i think im so used to being confused at all times that i just absorbed all that i read and accepted it regardless if i even understood it or not. the only reason i stopped reading was because i got too busy.
There's also an audio drama.... What I keep trying to decide is, isn't Yan Wushi really Hua Cheng if the latter hadn't died and had felt like going into politics and then spotted gege along the way?

Yeah, I can imagine that the first volume is literally the tip of the iceberg (unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to read the official translation yet, I rely on the content from the unofficial version). The fact is that the romance is not the main plot point, but to say that there is hardly any of it is also wrong. Shen Qiao and Yan Wushi go through many, MANY hardships and near-death experiences, but once the feelings finally start to emerge, it's incredibly satisfying.
As for the silver streak in Yan Wushi's hair, it's just gray because the guy is quite old 😂 A proper daddy I would say
