This is awesome and very inspiring! I've been watching most of these technologies, especially OpenHAB. It's great to see how you've architected it all together. Would love to see more and will watch for a tutorial.
+Kevan Mann, I agree. Let me know if you have something better. Ideally, I should be able to set the volume to a certain level similar to how I dimmed the dinner room light. Not sure if that will be possible via the Harmony Hub though. Should be possible using the Sony TV API or serial connection.
Minor thought, I think all of this would looks amazing if it was clean and mostly wireless (I just mean hiding the wires and I know it's a new setup, I heard you :) ), very nice setup man. Must have taken a while to set it all up but looks like a fun project if you're into this sort of stuff. Also glad it actually looks useful. I'm the type that for some reason always ends up searching for the darn remote!.. Thanks for sharing all of this.
okie ur vid was awesome.....2 simple questions... 1. How did you do the iPhone on/off function 2. How did you get the PC to do a software shutoff with the Echo PLEASE AND THANK YOU!
+JayTheTechGuy Thank you. More details and answers to your question on my blog here - blog.qnology.com/2015/11/voice-control-home-automation-via.html. 1) php script for icloud 2) bash script with a rpc shutdown command
Very good job. I would like to ask in the beginning of the video what is it the one that looks like nexus player gui on the tv? Do you have nexus player?
Thanks for the video I'm planning to get my dad for this video I'm planning on gettokng Amazon echo for his 60th birthday. any recommendations what I could buy with it like the smart lights
Hi the videos very good I tried to create the same environment using only Siri n wanted to control my lights but i seem to run into muntiple issue can u share ur clone disk or help in making a video thanks for the help
The only benefit i see of this is for handicapped people . I dont like those wires way too many for my liking i would be worried about fire hazards. My PC runs all my 4k Tv also my 4k reciever RX-V 2079 by yamaha via 1 hdmi cable thats all . Anyway it looks ok and im sure you will wow all your friends when they come over to see you.
+David Willems A remote shutdown command from the Raspberry Pi. See my blog for more info. blog.qnology.com/2015/11/voice-control-home-automation-via.html
Can you set timers or macros? Idea is to help me wake up in the morning... want the lights (lutron caseta dimmers) to turn on at 4:30am and turn he onkyo network receiver on.... is that possible?
+Juan Carlos Gonzalez - It is done via the Raspberry Pi running some open source software. Alexa talks to the Amazon Echo Bridge software running on the Pi, which then talks to OpenHab also running on the Pi, which then talks to the Harmony Hub to control the TV. I really need to make a diagram. Check out my tutorial for more details - blog.qnology.com/2015/11/voice-control-home-automation-via.html
Alexa Controlling the TV is a much needed tutorial, so kindly put that on... Subscribed

"Turn OFF TV Volume" has to be the most unintuitive voice command for volume down in the world.
+Kevan Mann, I agree. Let me know if you have something better. Ideally, I should be able to set the volume to a certain level similar to how I dimmed the dinner room light. Not sure if that will be possible via the Harmony Hub though. Should be possible using the Sony TV API or serial connection.

Which best buy Philips Hue Bridge 2.0 or Raspberry Pi 2 to do emulator hue bridge?
hey Qui, have you thought about doing this in other languages? How easy is it for those that have accents?
+myvn4ever
I don't think Alexa likes accents too much. However, she does have a learning feature that helps her understand you better.
Love the part when she says "ok"
Is there a way to make the Echo only listen when a button is pushed? Maybe via the remote?
Cool vid! How do you shutdown the Arcade PC?
