to me it IS the best car I’ve driven since I’ve started doing Downshift 4 years ago
And since then I’ve driven over 500 new cars from Hyundais to McLarens and Ferraris
And this LC week is still the week I look forward to most each year
The biggest and main reason I love this LC so much is right under the hood. The 5 liter V8 from Lexus is a phenomenal engine. It makes 471 HP and 398lbft. But it also makes something more important than numbers…
I mean the tone you get from this engine and exhaust is the best sound to come off a modern car
And then the stutter sound at redline and the cracks you get on upshifts
And THEN the sharpness on downshift
    It’s just so intoxicating
The LC gets a lot of love from a select few and if you’re one of them, you’re a big-brain. However, since it ONLY makes 471hp and LESS than 400 lbft and ONLY gets to 60 in 4 and a half seconds it doesn’t get as much attention as it deserves
But those people are looking at it all wrong, this isn’t a sportscar
    This is a GT car
And this one, more specifically, is a convertible - so Lexus isn’t trying to pass it off as a sports car
Personally, I’d have mine in the coupe body style, but the convertible top is good for one thing…not getting in the way of the music
The LC is a quintessential GT car. It’s big. It’s comfortable. It’s luxurious. It’s got plenty of power. It’s got a great soundtrack. And it looks the part. It’s made for distance cruising, not lap times..but does that mean it can’t drive hard?
While this is a big GT car and therefor limit handling isnt the point, you can still ahvea lot of fun with this thing
The chassis is really good, and you can even see the carbon fiber on the door sill and the door jamb
    You’ve got bigger brakes here
You’ve got a torsen rear LSD
You’ve got an adaptive damper set with a Yamaha performance rear damper
So with traction off, you can really whip this thing around!
But Matt, if you want a performance Lexus surely you’d get the RCF, right? Well if I’m honest, no. And it’s for 10 reasons, and every single one of them is in the gearbox
We’ve driven the RCF, the GSF, the IS500, and every single time I’m left thinking to myself
“If only this had the 10 speed from the LC”
The transmission really does make a difference to me
There’s just more crispness and more drama
And what is this car about if not Drama!
But let’s slow down for a second and talk about the cruising capability of this car , after all it is a GT car
I’m not sure if you’ve noticed this yet or not, but this is the convertible
That means it’s more money and I did notice a couple squeaks from the a-pillar when i went over a bump in a corner
That’s not something I noticed in the red convertible from last year so maybe that’s just a one-off thing
However, aside from that, the driving experience can be as civilized as you want it to be
With the top up it’s whisper quiet
With the top down you can put the wind blocker up and it’ll be quiet and comfy as well
The damping softens up really nicely
    The steering gets really light
    And the shifts fade away
Plus just sitting in here I feel special….but apparently not special enough to get a wave from the lady in the red LC convertible I passed near my house this week

Special thanks to our Patrons for their support of the channel! Name a more special experience under 150 grand than a Lexus LC

No one. Because all of its rivals are more expensive and this offers everything they give and more.

I have a simple GS350 and it's a terrific cruiser. I can imagine just how much better this LC is.

You get used to the infotainment after a few months. I much prefer this execution vs the 2024 with the zero style sideways tablet deal. Love the review! 🤙🏾

@@nominal It depends on what you are looking for. Only the coupe has 4 wheel steering and the performance pack option. Go for that if you want to maximize the sportiness.

Your passion for the car is great and the review was also very good except for at least two points. The center console slides back all the way and is fairly large. It includes a couple of USB ports, a 12V power port. The trackpad is there mostly to SETUP the personal preferences. Once you do this by running MENU/SETUP, you can use VOICE COMMAND FOR about 99.95% of anything ....ANYTHING AT ALL...YOU WANT TO DO. Talk to the car and it does it.

22 LC500 Coupe IR/TC w/ DHP in my garage with a Ducati V4S, Honda CBR RR-R SP. Im not a practical guy. Its not a numbers car, i selected it over 911, NSX, Aston, M5, E63, it was just better. Its not faster. Better build quality, better sound, better SMELL. No one talks about that but it smells like a fine leather store. This hot 20 yo blew me a kiss...ok well it was to the car but STILL! Not that i cant and haven't but the car commands attention. Its like driving a super model much like when i get on the Duc and SP.

Not every car has to be a race car that you will never take to the track. The Lexus is a beautiful car with great real world performance and also Lexus quality and reliability. When your super exotic is falling apart, the Lexus will still be in its prime.

Hey, really love your videos you deserve a lot more subscribers. My dad has an LC500 so I’m biased, but I think for the money you can’t beat it.
I really respect your opinion so I would like your thoughts on a few cars. I’m trying to buy a sports sedan in the 55-60k range and I’m choosing between a TLX Type S, IS500, s5 Sportback, and a Stinger. Could you please give me your thoughts? I didn’t add the m340i in here because I would just get an X3 m340i if I wanted the b58 engine. If you have any other recommendations, feel free to share.

    • @dwnshft
      @dwnshft  Рік тому +1

It sounds like you might be like me and have a soft spot in your heart for the Lexus V8s
With that in mind I think I would go:
      IS500
      TLX Type S
      S5
      Stinger
The V8 in the IS has so much character and I think those IS's will go up in value over time. The TLX is kinda heavy for a sport sedan, but you don't see many of them on the road and it feels kinda special. The Audi is really solid everywhere, but doesn't really feel special. And then the Stinger is great and huge bang for your buck, but of course not on the same interior tier

8:26 From an actual owner of this car don't listen to these "reviewers" opinion on the infotainment. If you own this car you should take the time to learn what you bought. Sure it took me a week. But its fluid now. More so than the newer cars with touch. I hate the new systems you get your screen dirty touching it and honestly i find it easier to control with my arm kept on the arm rest and my finger doing its job while my other hand is on the wheel and my eyes are on the road. Im not looking at the screen because of the haptic feedback and me knowing where to go. The wired car play is WHAT YOU WANT. Try listening to audio wirelessly. There is loss of quality. Noticable compared to plugging it in. If you spent 1500 bucks on the HK your a damn fool for unplugging your phone. You lost all that you bought.

    • @aurorajones8481

8:38 Case in point this guy doesnt even know or talk about climate concierge (CC) Its a feature you need to know about, and engage. It turns your auto a/c into AI auto a/c. Seriously it knows what you want more than you do when engaged. It ties all the systems into the CC so your wheel, scarf, along w/ where the air is placed via the vent doors. Its amazing. You only need to adjust the temp which is great to touch on the dash. If you turn that off then you manually need to adjust everything making it a nightmare. Oh but if you DO want heated seats. Just press that button on the steering wheel and say "activate heated steering wheel" BOOM. Stop your bitching.

8:50 NOPE, I had service which blessed me with a brand new UX w/ the newest infotainment system only 600 miles on it. Anyways i was eager to try it out. I wanted my track pad back. I kept focusing on the screen for where to touch not getting any feedback my hand bouncing w/ the car. Dont let the infotainment system on the LC stop you from getting it. Its just not a valid concern. Ask any owner. Only ppl who review have this "issue"
