Mine has quit working, and I've gotten old enough to avoid ladders (almost 80). I think the batteries are in series, and each is 3 volts, so total voltage would be 6 volts.
I think the batteries touch each other in the holder so they're in series (6 v total), if they are NOT touching each other, they may be in parallel (3 volt).
What happens if all three lights on the sensor pad are blinking red, all three of them
I havent used the sensor lately. It stoped working some time ago. I suggest you contact the Orbit company.

Next time, show how one actually changes the battery vs. a static, blurry still of the rain sensor with a voice over. Pretty much worthless...
