Alexa, Respects and more Respects for the way you express yourself so distinctively!! I am 63 and have a happy inclination to keep learning French at my own pace …..your methodology helps me grasp better, thank you 🙏
Got five right. Very surprised. Did ‘ O’ level French many decades ago. I remember that the oral exam lasted 25 minutes. Our teacher had given us no opportunities whatsoever, to speak French ( during five years of study, we were… silent) and no preparation for the oral exam. We did written work only. ( Grammar school). Almost all pupils, girls and boys, were in tears, after the exam. I saw them coming out of the exam room, wrecked. I wasn’t nervous mostly because I’d spent a lot of time listening to French radio stations to at least have some sort of French accent instead of Welsh pronounced English and also I thought that there was no chance of coming out of the room not being similarly wrecked so might as well relax. Was last in and when I went into the room, the examiner looked angry. His moustache was twitching. I asked him in French if I should sit down or just leave immediately. 😆 He looked surprised. Can remember answering a hobbies question, saying that I enjoyed music and could play the piano. Could answer “ Who’s your favourite composer ? “ Then, “ Tell me why …and how you compare another composer’s work with Bach’s”. 👀 I looked out of the window, strangely calmly, thinking that this would be the exact moment I failed the exam. What was going on - a music exam ? Then, started rambling about pop music composers who used some of classical composers’ work. I padded it out, to try to use up time, including waffling for a while how repetition of a sequence of notes can be relaxing to listen to. “ As in some Indian music, blah blah blah…er…sitar…ummm…hypnotique ! Umm…some church, music…”. It was a load of absolute rubbish but he was smiling. “ Tu peux arrêter maintenant”. At the end, after the 25 minutes that seemed like an hour, the examiner said, in English, “ You’ve passed. Your French is poor, mostly due to the use or not much use at all of tenses but your accent is very good and you held a fluent conversation. It was mostly with yourself …but at least you tried. The others who came in here had no French accent whatsoever ! They couldn’t even understand much of what I was asking them and frankly, when I see your teacher, I’m going to tell him what I think of him ! “ If the oral exam is still similar, I wish everyone the very best ! We had no internet back then. We heard no one speak French except the senior teacher, who didn’t speak with a French accent at all. There was a younger French teacher for a while, who got drunk, most lunchtimes. He’d swoop into the classroom, wearing a black graduation cloak as most of the staff did. He’d grin and would then lean on the wall mounted blackboard for support but without standing up straight. He’d look around the room, leering. Then he’d usually spend a while trying to grab a stick of chalk, having often dropped one onto the floor. How he never fell over, was a miracle. Every lesson, he’d write some “ naughty” words in French on the blackboard, tell us what they meant, then “ Put those in sentences, hehehehaha”. Then he’d stagger out at great speed and not come back. If we’d had a teacher like Alexa, we’d have cried with relief and happiness. 😁
Looking forward to this video and I will assign it for homework to my Middle School students just like I assigned your A1 level video of the same format. Thank you for all your amazing videos which really help my students improve their French listening, speaking, writing and reading skills in a very fun and entertaining way!
Hi, fellow French teacher here! How do you assign the videos as homework? The first thing that came to my mind is an EdPuzzle activity or a written reflection / using the words in their own sentences. Just curious, especially as a first-year teacher 🥰 I'm always looking for more ways to engage my students!
No way this is A2, these are not frequent words. This is more like B2 level word vocab, never came across about 75% of those words and I read French at a A2-B1 level.
Kind of take things like this with a grain of salt. It is kind of like those books or articles about "umpteen English words every high school graduate should know" and it is a list of words that No one ever uses.
Im about the same level as you and I agree. Even the English versions aren’t words I use as a native speaker. 😔 glad I’m not alone but still, back to studying for me! lol
1. L'ordonnance = the prescription J'emmène mon ordonnance a la pharmacie. 2. Le grenier= the attic Range les decorations de Noël dans le grenier. 3. Le chirurgien/ la chirurgienne= the surgeon Dr. Baines est le meilleur chirurgien de l'hôpital St. Exupery 8. La colère= the anger La colère de Charlotte est imprévisible 9. L'emploi du temps= the timetable. Son emploi du temps est chargé 10. L'escalade = the climbing Pour me détendre, je fais de l'escalade.

I’ll go back to my seat at the A1 table….however I’m nearly done with my A1 and just about to get to A2.
In my head I think I’m A2 borderline B1. After this I’m A0 and got only one Colere 😢
most of these are words we never really use in casual conversations but it's still nice to know them
I got just le chirurgien 🤦♀️
I can assure you that these words are deep into B1 and even B2. No chance that these are even considered A2
😂😢😂😢😂😢 mutual feelings
I've been learning French for 15 months but haven't covered any of these words!
Alexa, Respects and more Respects for the way you express yourself so distinctively!!

Umm, at least 6 words out of these 10 are used in daily life. So not sure how you can say that they are at B2 level
Im about the same level as you and I agree. Even the English versions aren’t words I use as a native speaker. 😔 glad I’m not alone but still, back to studying for me! lol
