This made me super sad, because it’s happened before to real people.
I was thinking that that has happened lots of times in real life. It gets even more horrifying when you realize in some parts of the word this is actually happening right now.

“We have to evacuate” that might be the single scariest line in this song.
Imagine someone that’s pretty much unstoppable killing off all your friends and family and all you can do is run and hide.
If you think about it, it's not a true genocide route because some of the monsters, including Alphys has gotten to an area you can't access.
@AleNoConstancy Wh-- no! In the fangame that exists you have to kill the shopkeeper NPCs, Grillby, Napstablook(again), the Riverperson, and everyone in the true lab.

You can just see and hear the fear, seeing Alphys try to comfort that Lion Monster, it shows how much your actions has affected the Underground, imagine if you will, you live in a city, you're married, have friends, a place to call home, a job, then one day, you're invaded, enemy soldiers are trying to take your city, and you have to leave, your city is in ruins, sure you may come back someday, but you most likely lost everything, your house, burned out, your workplace, a pile of rubble, friends and family sadly dead from crossfire. This is how the Monsters feel, they lost everything.
some fight back for the others escape, just hoping their loved ones survive.

So not only to you have an unkillable genocider (yay) in your neighborhood, they also either smile while doing so, or don't even flinch. I don't know which is scarier.

The only person in the genocide route who actually stood a chance when he didn't evacuate with Alphys was Sans, Sans put up a legitimately challenging fight, and even convinced me to reset, I spared Sans out of frustration, reset, I then happy did pacifist, so, good job Sans, you did exactly what Undyne tried to do.
For me, it was Asriel. The face of a good friend begging for his life when the purpose of my run was to show him fear, that he can fear, and show the consequences his line of thinking. A shame it's pointless.

Why Alphys? I know she is weak but she can trap us, thats why.
And asgore had a chance too, because of souls.
But yeah Sans is mostly the hardest in all of theese.

I like how her lack of stuttering shows how serious the situation is, and how her voice shows that she's not confident (Most people tend to stop stuttering when confident). She, of most monsters, probably knows how urgent the situation it. She watched the human kill Undyne, the "Undying". She's probably shaken to the core, but still knows she has to be in-control.

The key word is "tries". They know that they CAN'T kill the human, but they try to do that, to buy some time for monsters to evacuate
if they can't stop this killing spree, then they would at least stall for time to escape.
I would like to think that yes, Alphys is hoarding everyone in the True Lab, but I like to think the Amalgamates are protecting the lab and the people and gooeing up the elevator so you can't go down and if you do, it's not like you can kill the Amalgamates anyways.

You can play through Genocide normally, but if you stop and analyze what is happening, you'll be heartbroken by the effects of Genocide and what creature you've become.
Honestly my theory is that alphys killed herself and mettaton started the evacuation process saving as many as he could while the amalgamates protect those that mettaton saved granted in neutral run alphys is alive and wishes she killed but in most i think she killed herself

I find that unlikely. The neutral ending you mentioned is the worst neutral ending (aborted genocide in Hotland), if she didn't kill herself then she wouldn't have in geno.

This may be an unusual opinion, given the competition...but Evacuate is probably my favorite song in the Genocide Package. I can't stop listening to it. Don't get me wrong, Power of NEO, Papyrus Believes in You, DeTermination...this package has some incredible songs and there's some stiff competition. But this song is so unexpected and it turned out so well. I always expect to hear CORE adapted, and it's nice to see they chose Another Medium instead, particularly as the Musical didn't have it. Hearing from Alphys was also a pleasant surprise, since you normally don't see her on this route. The whole idea of this song is clever, and it does some awesome world-building for the musical and the package - I mean, there's a line from Mettaton at the beginning of Hotland that tells you this evacuation is happening - but you never see it. Here, we do. We get to see the Monsters fear, and boy does it bring a chill.
Then there are the lyrics themselves. Not gonna lie, when the first line was simply "Run." I just buried my face in my hands. "Our days are done." So simple yet so perfect. It's brilliantly written both as a song and a story, and you can feel the monsters panic and despair. The third verse "This is the end, family and friends..." Might very well be the most beautiful verse Alex has ever written, and I don't say that lightly. I teared up. But it wouldn't leave nearly the impact that it does without the performance of the chorus, to say nothing of Brenna. Her passion and her determination to save everyone, fighting against her own self-doubt, is exactly why she's the perfect Alphys. I don't think I've had a chance to praise her yet, so I hope she sees this.
The artwork...the artwork is on another level. Whenever we're not watching Frisk mow down monsters, we're given something even more heartbreaking. While this may be all I know about Moony, it tells me enough to tell me that she was incredible. The details on the characters, the way the world already seems to be breaking down...and the emotions she captures. Seeing Alphys herd the anguished monsters into the True Lab, hurt my soul almost as much as the first picture scared me. As people have said before, it looks as though Alphys and the monsters are running...from YOU. The viewer. Nothing gives me more chills than a POV of the REAL monster in this story...the player. The way Moony harnessed these characters just enhances the entire piece. There's an impending sense of hopelessness as you really start to realize that the human cannot be stopped. Kill them, they resurrect, and continue the job. If UNDYNE couldn't stop the human, who can?
So yeah, that's just my two cents on why this is my favorite song in the genocide package. I wouldn't quite say it's my favorite Undertale video that MOTI has done (Reunited is hard to dethrone....) but I just thought this one doesn't get talked about as much as Megalovania or Power of NEO, so I threw my piece in there, lol. Peace, everyone.

"This is the end, family and friends, they've killed them all! Never would dream this is how it ends, when angels fall.... away we have to crawl..." not only is it beautiful and heartbreaking, it also has a well-put-in reference to the dark Prophecy briefly mentioned in the game, how an angel will fall and make the underground go empty; yet some monsters were dreading the idea that this could be an angel of darkness, not leading them to the surface, but rather wiping out the whole race. As Genocide!Frisk did.
"We will die... by our friends..." And they do. They're seen fighting against you, together, with what little they have. Faithful yet hopeless until the end.
"Leaving behind, the world we know... and leave the firelight's glow" ahhhhh I love pretty metaphors. And pretty lyrics, dang. And when it changes to "and all we had to show" sung by the chorus at the end of the song and then followed by silence, it gives me chills.

Plus, a lot of people didn't like megalovania due to the vocal focus on emotion rather than singing prettiness, so I wouldn't be surprised if some people liked this over megalovania.
This was written after the Genocide Package finished. That said, I DO like Megalovania and the acting range Steel showed in it. I just like this song more.
The line: never would dream, this is how it ends, when angels fall! Coupled with the fact that as the monsters are evacuating, the brave few like muffet and mettaton stay behind to try and stall you, knowing damn well that they would be slaughtered just brings me to tears.

Oh my... this song... this artwork... these feelings... these tears... oh my...
When this song started, I could feel the monsters' panic, as well as Alphy's desperation to get everyone to safety. And then I began to feel all the sadness all the monsters felt at having to leave everything they know behind, and essentially abandon their hopes and dreams... And that's when it all sunk in: the human... it's path of genocide ruined everyone's hopes and dreams. The monsters can never be free now... I mean, of course I always knew this somewhere in my mind, but it wasn't until I heard this song that it just *REALLY* sunk in... And it hurt... A lot... However, despite my heart slowly cracking as the realization continues to sink further and further into my soul, I still thought to myself "This is incredibly tragic, but maybe the tears won't spill over this time. The monsters are going to safety! The feeling is more panicky and desperate then anything. Maybe the tears won't spill over..."
Whelp, guess what ended up happening? Yep, the tears ended up spilling down my face... Actually, that's an understatement. Not gonna lie, I ended up bawling like a freaking baby by the end of the video. I mean, the tears were sitting in my eyes for a little bit, and I thought they could be held back... That is, until Muffet came on screen. Her death always gets me, and it's all because of the DANG LITTLE SPIDER THAT PLACES A FLOWER IN THE AREA WHERE SHE ONCE STOOD AND IDK WHY THAT HITS ME SO HARD BUT IT DOES ToT As soon as that little spider came, the tears came flooding out of my eyes and down the sides of my face. Those tears just kept on coming, and even if I tried to stop them, I really don't think I could've. Especially not when I saw the very end of the video...

It is always an honor and a pleasure to have the opportunity to see her beautiful work. She was blessing to this earth; a lovely soul that was taken from us at a time we all feel was much too soon... But I still firmly believe that she is still sending love to everyone she cherished, and still cherishes, in this world. I know that she is with her fellow angels in her place above, smiling at each and every one of you. She loved her friends and family, and she knows that they all loved her. Aw man Moony art. I miss her and it's really nice to see stuff she did. Her work is great and it's just so nice to see it again. Her Alphys was particularly one of my favorites, the detail of the scales on Alphys' face and how heartbroken she looks so sad and the detail of the claws on her hand and ah it's so good. And the poor lion looks so crestfallen and Catty's like... welp we're outta gel pens we're scarred for life now. But yeah mmm. Good art.
The song is so nice. I love Another Medium so it makes me so happy that it's finally appeared in some form in UTM. The chorus is lovely and the line "when angels fall" is just SO GOOD and I love the bit about "all we had to show". The Geno route has such a great feeling of loss and what could have been, and lines like that really drive it home. There was so much beauty here and joy and the Underground is so full of life, and you just. Wreck it for no reason. Brenna is a standout here as always, the desperation in her tone and how it matches with CORE is SO GOOD. There's something so intense in her "leave it behind", I dunno why it hits me so hard. And then she's backed by the chorus with "leaving behind the world we know" and it's SUCH A JAM which I feel so bad for thinking but ugh. It's SO GOOD.
Excellent job as always guys, you're all so talented and this is so, SO great.

I gasped seeing Moony's art on here, and then squealed at how good it came out. I LOVE how she draws Alphys with all the details on her skin, and how she captures the fear in all of the monsters.
Brenna and the chorus all sound beautiful! The chorus harmonises so well and Brenna takes a strong lead and nails the song! Good job guys! :D

Why Mettaton NEO is 2:
I try to explain why Mettaton NEO Genocide is so touching because you killed everyone, he didn’t get his ratings. You killed everyone, all his fans, so he never got the fandom he wanted most in the world. But then you kill him, and he says “You dont wanna join my fan club?” Because you KILLED them all, so he asks you if you will just be his last fan, even though he knows you won’t be a fan, he just wants you to at least think he is cool and be a small fan, so he asks you if you will just be his last fan, because you took everything in his life away. He pleads, that why he doesn’t attack you if you check or do nothing. He spares you (kind of) he just wants 1 person, 1 fan, to appreciate him before he died, but you killed them all. You took everything away from him.
But it’s also sad because when he fights you he smiles, but weakly, like a sad smile, because he knows since he stood in your way, he saved monster kind, as alphas was evacuating everyone, as From research, while Mettaton NEO was facing you, alphys was evacuating everyone. That weak sad smile shows he is sad he had to lose his fans, but he still smiles because he now knows he saved monster kind. The smile is so sad because saving monster kind means he has to lose his stardom, if you don’t know how that’s sad, Imagine someone who wanted be a super popular youtuber, but he sacrificed 1M subs for his friends. But Mettaton Becomes Selfless and Sacrafices his stardom, and himself, for monster kind. Becoming That selfless to sacrifice your dream and life is so touching.

Definitely the most heartbreaking song out of the Genocide package. You can really feel the horror, the gameplay in the back of the monsters getting slaughtered one after another as the song goes on shows how hopeless everyone is against the human.
I think But Nobody Came is way more heartbreaking

Chara can take out bosses in 1 or 2 hits, but takes 5 just to take out some normal enemies?
I would think that LOVE gains more power the more you kill, and you might be inclined to think that the hatred against the bosses, would lead Chara/Player to do more damage to them. Especially Mettaton who imitates and loves humans, which Chara hates them. (Which may explain why he thought fighting a murderous demon child with a tin can called NEO was a good idea, because he WAS powerful but Chara would have disliked him a lot leading to them being farther away from him=More damage). It's beautiful, the chorus so *full* sounding and resonant. It's great to hear more of Brenna, too. Alphys is so in the background during the geno run, but she's still doing her best to save those she can. Supporting them. But not every one left. Geez. Seeing Tsundereplane just exploding like that, followed by the rest. O2 yelling for his partner. Muffet's spider. Ugh.
The lyric were also great. Ugh. "Never would dream / this is how it ends / when angels fall" and in the end "Leaving behind / the world we know / and all we had to know" were places that especially stood out to me. for different reasons. One is the angel motif, which seems far more potent in the geno package than in the pacifist musical. Perhaps it's because the underground never got to know the human as anything but the angel of death, while in the musical the human became both friend and family instead of some mythical construct. The later...sorta ties into it, I suppose. Of lost opportunities. They are leaving everything they've ever had and ever hoped for, all for the off chance that they can escape and survive, while they know most won't.

Moony was so great with drawing Alphys. She managed to capture the lizard-ness without making it too awkward, and I love how she'd always color in some of Alphys' scales to add to the texture of her hide. The expressions are great in both images. Fuku (I think?) just looks so lost and worried and Alphys is so urgent as she tries to usher everyone toward the lab. I loved seeing all the npcs in the backgrounds, even bratty and catty in the elevator...
I wish she were here. I'd be flailing at her in excitement. She was such a huge fan, and eventually got to do THIS. Now I'm just...it hurts.

I think Alphys as a character really shines in genocide. She's a really awesome character in the pacifist ending but her character is really shown in how she finally can find it in herself to take charge here. She's not the sort to do something until the last moment, and these are the last moments. Her voice here legitimately makes me almost cry because it is a terrifying prospect, something larger than life trying to take everything from you.
And in it, someone acting to help the last survivors get to safety, someone who can do something while putting aside their own feelings of loss and grief, this shows the true power of her character.

Oh wow. I don't know what to say.
You can just hear the desperation in Brennas voice and it hits home so hard. The chorus is amazing as always and you feel like you are a part of it. The music and the voices are so powerful you feel like you are one of them, fleeing their home to escape being killed by a psychopath.
The lyrics are amazing, and again hit so hard. Brenna singing "Please don't look back/Leave it behind" just shows the desperation in this situation, and "We won't be spared/ we have to beware/ the humans hate" makes you feel horrible as the player because you know you are killing innocent beings, even if it is a "game" to you.
Lastly, the art. Moony's art is beautiful as always. It's just so upsetting that she wasn't here to see this. She will be missed by so many people. She made the world a little brighter. R.I.P Moony.

Who's the person singing going the highest part, the one during the parts such as "we might not all be free" and "When our day is done" and obviously the beginning segment and "never would dream this is how it would end when angel fall"? Whoever it is they are amazing for pulling off those notes and not making it sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks meets Mickey Mouse trying to break glass like seriously props to them, notes like that don't usually blend that wall and a lot of the time would sound forced and squeaky, but thou it has a tiny tiny but of it, it just ends up sounding like a female monster with a high pitched singing voice, which is exactly what you were going for.

I'm just gonna say, out of all the genocide songs, I think this is my personal favorite so far. It was so strong, it really showed how the human's actions affected the lives of so many, the chorus mirroring such. It was also really nice to hear Brenna's voice in this one, it really hit those perfect notes, giving orders and telling everyone to leave it behind.
I also feel that that last line, "And all we had to show" was really powerful, it really shows what a life the monsters had before the human, and how they destroyed the entire place.

The thing that really scares me is Alphys. Normally, she’s this stuttering dinosaur nerd who loves anime and has a crush on some armored fish. But here, she’s a serious dinosaur scientist who understands that the strongest being in the underground (Undyne) is dead, meaning that everyone she knows is about to die to the human’s hand, hence she puts matters into her own hands.
Seeing the scene of the Royal Guards at 1:24 and all the animation after Muffet' death in 1:36 just..

The genocide route is truly terrifying. Imagine, a new creature suddenly shows up, prawling your streets looking for anything to kill. If something crosses it's path, it's violently torn limb from limb, murdered, and the creature gets stronger. You run, you hide, but some people still can't escape. You wonder if you're next, if there's anything that can stop it. But your heros all failed and died. It looks like nothing can beat this abomination.
It's the plot of every horror movie, but this time, WE'RE the beast in their closet.

It's one stop further than just killing people. Monsters "fall down", then after some time turn to dust. Alphys turned monster who fell down into the amalgams. This "fallen down" phase is skipped, monsters are made into dust then.
I like how this has reminded me that, in any other run, the mercenaries of the CORE are out to get you. Now they're fighting for a cause nothing short of noble. Battle-hardened monsters, they've seen it all. And they're willing to put their lives on the line to save the rest.

It was quite a nice surprise to see something Moony made. I wish she could have seen how everything's coming together but at least she enjoyed having a bunch of crazy friends with the rest of the MOTI crew.
I really liked this song and how it was put together. Usually, everyone skips over the whole evacuation part, or Alphys, Muffet, and mettaton. I found the newness of the song very refreshing and creavtive. I really liked this song and how bittersweet it was.

The line that always got me with this one is "In death, we might see the sun" at 1:42. You gotta remember, a good portion of these monsters have never seen the surface. They only have vague ideas of it from their history and their elders (Gerson, for example). If you play through the Pacifist route, everyone stands at the mountain peak and watches the sunset, gaping at it in awe. Here in the Genocide Route, though, they don't stand a chance. All the young monsters, they'll never see what the surface truly looks like, and the older ones will never return to it. All they can do is hope that, if they fall to the murderer, they might steal a glance at the world they once hoped to return to.
Really love how this song was not only finally a cover of Another Medium, but also delves into Alphys's leadership role a lot more. I love the neutral ending you get if you abandon geno in Hotland, where Alphys becomes more courageous and steps up to lead the underground, and I'm so glad you guys explored that in the Genocide package.
The only way this could be better is if at around 2:05 there was a second set of lyrics in the background relating to the characters who did stay behind to fight you.

This singing and lyrics really embodies the fear that everyone is feeling. With the evacuation, there probably would be some monsters trying to go back to see if other are alright or a possession was forgotten. Alphys is trying hard to make them realize that there's no turning back. They have to run away since the human has become too much for even Undyne, their hero, to handle. The voices also gave me that feeling that, even if the song is at the same pace as the original, it sounds sounds freaking amazing. Not to mention Moony's art looks amazing as well. If only she was here so she could see the result of her hard work. You all did amazing, and I love your videos so much!

There are no words that exist that could explain how unbelievably incredible this song is.
Also, the artwork. It’s incredibly amazing. It truly is the most unfortunate that Moony passed. I believe that she would have loved seeing her artwork used in the places it was used. The small details in Alphy’s face are so perfect and make the art feel more realistic. The other characters that Alphys are telling to get out look fantastic. Just another perfect detail in the picture. There’s so much to say but not enough words to describe it.
Brenna’s voice is perfect for this situation Alphys is in. She sounds scared, worried, but most importantly, urgent. Brenna’s voice just makes you think about how Alphys feels and how she’s acting, and it makes the song feel so much more complete and sort of genocidal.
Great job MOTI. You created a masterpiece once again. There’s so much to say, but I just can’t put it in words. Once again, I am speechless.
There is a line where I keep hearing Alphys sing "we won't be scared", but in the subtitles, it's "we won't be spared", and this detail makes me feel a hundred times worse. It is how you must act during an evacuation, you must not panic. And Alphys is trying to remind the monsters about it, but at the same time they all are horrified, so the "scared" turns into "spared"

I know this is 4 years later but I just want to say that this may be one of my favorite songs for the Genocide route in the musical. It combines fear, anxiety, hopelessness, and downright devastation in the music. The people in the background singing have this (I can't really describe it properly) horrific harmony, which just means they can convey their tones into the mood of the moment. I got to give props especially to the high pitch female voice because she helped balance out but she is also the voice you hear the most. The part where they say "flee" at the beginning of the song instantly sets the tone of the song and you can hear the background music bumping in. I would say that the best part of the song is the "when angels fallen" you can really hear this harmony and the mood feels like your heart dropping into your stomach. Another good part is when they say "we may not all be free but we try to believe" it sounds so beautiful yet so sad because we know that there are only a few people who are defending the underground when everyone else not fit to fight are hiding knowing that their heros are inevitably going to die. Later in the song they soon realize that inevitably they are going to die somehow even though Frisk, no, the PLAYER doesn't know their location. I know to some people Megalovania is the "best song" in the Undertale franchise but it doesn't really convey that much emotion except for anticipation and having a legendary fight against a skeleton that abuses the games system and can time travel. This song has so many different elements like fear, anxiety, depression, despair, and literally knowing that the world they live in will be destroyed and they can't do anything except run and hide. I also want to mention about Brenna (the voice for Alphys in the Musical), in this song her voice both portrays fear of the unknown and portrays a defensive shield that the monsters can rely on, notice that in the Pacifist route Alphys stutters and she constantly beats herself up for messing up on minor things but in this Alphys doesn't stutter and has to be their for the monsters as a reliable structure. I ultimately give props to everyone who worked on this and for Man of the Internet for showing us this gem they were building. Keep up the great quality videos and I will support you anyway I can.
When you do one of these routes... you can't go back. Trust me. This makes me sad, the beautiful lyrics, the beautiful voices. They make me ashamed to have done of these runs (also I do speedrun these, but that's beside the point.) My positivity is at least I did not kill per say everyone in the underground. @@fabrypetty1689 having heard the lore behind the game's start It's quite clearly the humans who started the war (sort of like how the decepticons started the war in transformers granted the Humans in undertale don't give a reason for the war the decepicons arguably had a reason to declare war (much like the United states the decepticons were treated poorly by the Cybertronian council and were mostly the working class (I mean Megatron himself was a Miner turned revolutionary shockwave was a council member too) very similar to the UKs treatment of the US and almost identical to Russia's communist revolution) so the humans in Undertale instigated the war and just made it worse when Asreil and Chara were killed thus causing king Asgore to do what he did in the game
