Thank you for all your videos! I’ve learned so much watching them. I’ve watched them all! How often do you make new ones. You are a great teacher! Thanks again!
Thankyou very much Elaine, appreciate that. I generally make them every week and upload on a Tuesday or Wednesday sometimes every two weeks depending oh how large the next project is due to filming. :)
Great tip to keep all the small pieces in a design together! Usually I use a piece of clear packing tape, but this would work much better. Thanks from North Carolina, U.S.
Thankyou very much, packaging tape works really well, this is thicker so if you have uneven tess it wont work as well. Thanks for watching and appreciate the comment. :)
I used this for my first piece, we call it contact paper in the states and is found where you would pick out shelf liner for your kitchen cabinets. Comes in rolls. About $3 a roll. Cheers!
Something else I didn't know! How graphic designers/sign writers use this product. Now I have to find me one, to beg from! You have certainly accumulated a wealth of knowledge!
Thanks so much Wendy. Definitely sign writers that do digital printing and laminating use a lot of this type or similar type of product. I am always learning. Appreciate the comment. :)
Thankyou very much. That I cant say because it would depend on the environment its in as with any product that has adhesive once its been applied to the tess. I have used the pieces 2 months later and all has been fine. It also depends on the how aggressive the adhesive is because you can get products that have some tack to products that are very aggressive. Thanks for watching and commenting. :)
Very helpful info. Once your stepping stone cement is dry, I assume when you flip it out the laminate will pull off? Could you also use clear shelf liner or contact paper?
Another great video!! Question... I noticed you were using glass tiles but is it the same for ceramics? Also, do you use this like mesh and glue the laminate down with tiles attached, or is this a reverse method where the laminate is actually the top and you remove it after gluing? Sorry if that shoukd have been obvious. Thanks very much Peter!
Thankyou so much. It works best with flat surfaces such as glass but will work with crockery. This is quite a thick laminate and it would be difficult to adhere if you have tessera with various thicknesses. I have used this for the reverse method, it was my first mosaic, I used thinset for the adhesive so I took a lot on a little bit disastrous but I saved the piece. lol I would probably use a mosaic film for that rather than this material if I were to do it again. But its perfect for keeping flowers and other things together to use at a later date. Thankyou for the comment and for watching. :)
Thankyou so much. Generally you will adhere to mesh with a adhesive and then apply it to a substrate permanently or if you are working off site and take it with the mosaic on and apply it onsite, I wouldn't use the Laminate for that. :)
Polystyrene can be used for a substrate such as creating a gazing ball it can be used for creating different levels in a mosaic, also for creating sculptures or for bulking things up. :)
I believe you made a mistake in this video. The tile should not be facing up in the mold as the concrete would cover the tile. The tile which is adhered to the sticker paper is place correct side down into the mold, then the concrete will be poured into the mold.
The sticky side is facing toward the concrete with the tess on so the back of the tess gets the concrete poured on top, I dont think I mentioned tile, when cured flip the paver over, peel off the laminate. timecode 7:19 unless Im missing something. :)
I caught that too. Perhaps the issue is what type of tess is used. If it is not opaque with color going all the way through (such as when using plates). If you put the tess on so you have the design of the plate or color of the tess up and then put it in the mold with the sticky side up, the cement would cover the front of the tess. Of course, if you are using only opaque tess with no additional design on it, that won't be a problem.
You can stick to mesh but the advantage of this is its instant and you can change the pieces if you need to re arrange and its also good for just holding a small design in place like flowers where you want cut more of them out but dont want to adhere them down that day, just holds them in place for temporary storing. :)

This product is a lot thicker than contact paper, we have that here as well. This film is used in manufacturing. :)
I especially like the re-use or upcycle aspect of this idea.
Thankyou so much Nancy appreciate that and thanks for the comment. :)
I’m new to Mosaics so I appreciate all of your tips! Thank you.
Thanyou so much, glad you're enjoying them. :)

Thankyou so much Phyllis so glad you are enjoying them and thankyou for the comment. :)
Brilliant suggestion. Thank you 💕
Thanks so much Dianne, l find it works a treat. ❤
So very helpful! Thank you!!
Thanks so much Lori, l use this a lot to keep my flowers together until l need them. Thankyou for the comment and for watching. 😊
Loving learning from you. Thank you!
Thankyou very much, appreciate that and thanks for watching. :)
Love this idea. How long can you leave it attached to glass before you assemble the mosaic

Thank you so much for sharing this informatio
Thankyou very much Faten, appreciate that. :)

Thankyou so much, yes the laminate peels off when you flip the paver over. Some people do use contact paper that you cover your books with as well. :)

Do you have a stepping stone tutorial? I really want to make those the most right now for my garden.
l have a tutorial on making a concrete stepping stone.
Could you show us an actual demo. Because I'm not understanding the whole process or purpose.
I'll see what I can do. :)
@@TreasuryRoad thanks
Me too. Brand new to this and would like to see the whole process
Very helpful video, thanks. Do you also use mesh as a backer like the laminate?
Thankyou so much. Generally you will adhere to mesh with a adhesive and then apply it to a substrate permanently or if you are working off site and take it with the mosaic on and apply it onsite, I wouldn't use the Laminate for that. :)
You really are a great te 10:30 acher!!!
Thankyou so much Nancy and that for the comment and support. :)
Where do you purchase the 230 micron laminate please. Google has failed me.
There is not one particular store, the videos gives a rundown on the type of companies where you can get it from. :)
Where do you buy this laminate Peter?
The details and explanation are in the video. :)
What use would polystyrene be in the mosaic world? Thank you!
Polystyrene can be used for a substrate such as creating a gazing ball it can be used for creating different levels in a mosaic, also for creating sculptures or for bulking things up. :)
