- Cement Mixer Restoration Big Clean Up. I am doing a Clean up and restoration of a cement mixer / concrete mixer from the ground up. I use Pressure washing, wet sand blasting, Evapo-Rust, paint thinner. Take a look how this is coming along.

The mixer was picked up by my father in the early 60's. The cement / concrete mixer has seen a lot of work and abuse from many members of the family. It is time to get it running again. I will start with the GE Electric Motor then move on to Jack shaft, Brake, Yoke, Drum.
Lots of work to do.

Using your pressure washer as a blast unit is a neat idea.
Worked great Tom. Thanks.
That pressure washer sand blaster seems to work a lot faster than a regular sand blaster.
Works great and no sand dust. Thanks Ken.
Top Tip for cleaning rusty parts go down to your local builders merchants and buy a couple of gallons of brick acid/patio cleaner it does exactly the same job as evaporust but at a fraction of the cost
Thanks
Looking good Randy.
Thank you old iron.
Coming along very nicely and your not getting mixed up the least bit. Thanks for the video.
Not to bad, big parts and not a lot of them. Thanks Harold, stay dry.
This project is really coming along nicely!!!!!
Yes it is. Working on the the repairs and getting primer on. Thanks Scout.
Nice job!
Thanks MC.
nice job.
Thank you! Cheers!
Got a lot done can't wait to see it finished
Thanks Larry, coming along well.
You better double up on ear plugs when you hammer out the barrel 😁
I can't get that many foam plugs in my ears. I am not a Ferengi. Thans Youchol.
Back in the day, my father and his old Italian cement buddies would kill for that mixer...ah let me re-phrase that...FORGEDABOUDIT lol!
Thanks AWDJR.
Don't we all need a bigger shop for bigger projects, mostly where Summer only last a few short months...??? 🍺🍦🍦🍦🍦😎👍
Mixer getting real clean... !!!
Nice and clean working out well. Bigger shop sure would be nice. thanks Pierre.
I've had one of those water blasters for a couple of years, there fantastic.
This unit works great love it. Thanks James.
Can't wait to se you bang your drum.
Thanks Randy great videos
Thanks Christopher. There will be some serious banging.
Randy, I'm really enjoying this series, it is interesting to see how someone with all of your experiences tackles something like this.
Thanks Pat. This is the first cement mixer I ever tore apart.
Glad you got the file out. Lipton will be happy.
I have to keep the file god happy. Thanks Stephen.
That sandblaster attachment is a good addition. The Mixer barrel and frame are looking good. You should wear double hearing protection when you try to beat out those dents.
Blaster is great. Thanks Vernon.
I have done dry sand blasting for more hours than you would believe. That wet blasting looks good to me. I would like to try that. Looking good Randy
Worked really great, no sand dust and better containment of the sand. Much better than dry blasting. Thanks Randy
I suggest heat and beat to straighten up your drum.
Thanks Brian. I think this is the path fro the most part. Still looking at removing the cone portion to repair.
Morning Randy! Looks like it's comming along nicely.
Yep getting some primer on before winter. Thanks Craig.
Randy that blaster worked real good a big improvement from trying to get that paint off the hard way, looks to have saved a lot of drudgery. I hate removing paint even worse than I hate painting, likely because I worked painting houses for a few months after I got out of the service until a 'real' job came along, not a fun job, my hats off to anyone who can do that job and enjoy it.
Worked great John. Still a lot of work. Thanks John.
The blasting can be messy stuff do do , i hate doing it ! . Coming along great . Cheers .
This wet type of blasting is not a as bad and worked great. thanks Max.
Awesome project Randy, I learn so much from your experience. Kindest regards Joe
Thanks you Joe. So do I. LOL.
Looking good, Randy. Enjoying the series. Glad to hear the Evaporust worked out well for you... I've always had excellent results.
Thanks Joe. The evaporust works great, very impressive.
looking great Randy , ENJOYED !!
Thanks Shawn.
WOW! It must have been a late night last night????
Timken Roller Bearings. That piece of old iron was made to last. It deserves the TLC you are giving it.
Never saw a water sand blaster in action. Looks like it made a difficult job EASY and was well worth the money it cost.
John
Very much so well worth it. Came out great and worked well. Thanks John.
If you need to do a lot of sandblasting, go over to ua-cam.com/channels/j_XaV1ss-qdD-lPUtTEcXw.html and find the videos of Doug building and using his own version. He is building a 70 foot junk-rigged boat in his front yard. He buys his sand in 3000 lb bags.
Looks good Randy, lot of work.
Thanks Bill. Yes this is, but coming along.
Big job cleaning up that ol' unit😊. Turing out great, nice work!
Thank you Just1Guy.
Great results Randy - this is being a very interesting series. :)
Thanks Chris. Big project but steady progress.
Coming along great. Very nice restoration.
Watching in Alabama
Thanks Anthony. coming along.

Worked Awesome. Thanks Chuck.
Chuck, awesome comment. LOL
Looking good.
Thanks Doug.
Almost ready to remake the Hoover Dam.
Almost, do you want to come and help? Thanks Rustinox.
Could you use a slide hammer on outside of drum weld temp. lugs to pull on / Good video.
Thanks Mike. Good idea, maybe I can use that in some sots.
Just a FYI for people. Northern Tool Co. has the blasting attachment for pressure washers. They have 2 sizes, 8 bpm and 12 gpm. Here is a link for the 8gpm unit:

I also have a link in the description. Thanks for the additional link Paul.
The mixer is coming along great Randy. I am curious to know how much sand it took for the blasting that you did.
Thanks Jim. 3 sacks #20 worked the best. 3 sacks #30 worked well and better for the tight spots.
Looking good, about how much sand did you use doing the clean up?
Thanks RC. 3 sacks #20, 3 sacks #30.
Hello Randy? I need 12 Yards of 36 MPA for 7:00 AM tomorrow are you OK with that.
I am in Hope BC.
I am ok with that. I call a truck for you. I will charge for that. Thanks Joe for the great comment.
HI Randy, as you know I'm not overly safety minded, well I risk my fingers every night 😀, but perhaps a mask would be an idea especially if that is silica sand you are using. I know it is wet sand and only short term exposure but....
Thanks Chris. I will be long in the ground before silicosis sets in. I am hoping for death by to much bacon.
@@RRINTHESHOP way to go👍👍👍
My ambition is to die a rich old pervert but I'm only 2/3rds there.😏
@@chrisstephens6673 2/3 to being rich, 2/3 to dying or 2/3 to being a pvert?
@@RRINTHESHOP that would be telling🤔
@@RRINTHESHOP or rich and old, rich and pvert or maybe old and pvert, your guess.😇
