I'm way late to the party, but I have a GLS holster for my P07 and had the same issue with it being too tight. It doesn't break-in and the locking mechanism doesn't work properly. The "fix," I learned after the fact, is that while the GLS Pro-fit is the base model there are different sub models. If you want to use it with a P07 or P09 make sure you buy one of their Wide Models designated by the center code 750(standard) or 450(long). So the part number for this holster starts 578-83-xxx for standard when you need a 578-450-xxx wide for a P09. Hope that helps anyone who wanders across this while shopping. Cheers
I am sure you figured this out but you are suppose to take that alan wrench and loosen the bolt up the clamps the 2 halves of the holster together until you get your desired fit and retention I ran this holster a the farm for the glock 17 it was awesome but you should be able to adjust it to be much smoother than it is right now
That’s either the wrong holster or it needs adjusted with the T handle wrench. But by now you’ve figured that out! I have a few of the gls holsters, the pistol should virtually fall into it and lock securely, and come out just as easy when gripped properly. These are quality rigs.
The 578 GLS "Wide Standard" fits my CZ P07 perfectly without squeezing it in the holster (as in this video). You can then adjust the cam to take out any looseness. I assume the CZ P09 will stick out the bottom. The Fit Guide on the side of the package should primarily list Sig P320 and 226 with Red dots meaning they require the shims. But this fits the CZ P07 and 09 without the shims. Fits much better then the "Standard Fit Guide" in this video.
I have the 578 and when I put my P229 into it the first few times, it went in. Then it stopped going in for some reason. I saw the guide said mine needed the shim so I put that in, but that makes it worse actually. From what I can tell, it's not going in because there's that little plastic knub in there stopping the trigger guard from going in all the way. It looks like I gotta take my Dremel to it and shave it off. I guess. Man it is an absolute pain to find a retention holster for my P229, cause it has the slide cut for an RMR and I want to use my X300 with it. As it stands the 578 won't even work with the X300 so if I want to have any retention holster at all, I gotta ditch the light on the P229. Awesome
My CZ P-09 does not fit in this holster. You had to crush it in there and it was so tight it would push the slide back. I had to Dremel "ports" in the side where the pistol was rubbing and cut part of the locking cam out. I made it work but would def not recommend it. I told safarliand about the issue and they sent me a 40% off coupon for a future purchase. Seems like they would change the holster finder option, but who knows.
Thanks for sharing, really nice. What I've learned about stretching Kydex holsters a bit, is to heat up the holster with the gun in it to reform the the holster for your gun some what. Doesn't work all the time, but never hurts to try.
Thank You Kotaboy as always you do good work. I use a Safariland on duty and have a few ALS holsters for off duty and they are excellent retention holsters. Not sure I like the idea of a easy finger "grip" release as an ideal "retention holster though. Anyone can grab your firearm in a normal grip and pull your gun right out. I do love the fact that you can use the GLS in a ton of guns. I can't wait ti Safariland comes out with a ALS multi-holster for several firearms. They put that out and they will sell a TON of them.
Just picked up a GLS from 'Going outta business, 50% off most of the store sale' at Gander Outdoors. I think it cost me about 20 - 25 bucks to finally replace my old SERPA (Lol) for my CZ 75 clone. Being a fullsize, 4.5" barrel, 19+1 pistol, it's a bit on the large side for a concealed carry piece, lol. But with a barrel as long as some PCCs, 20 rounds locked and loaded, plus four more 19 rnd mags and three 17 rounders... I'd say it makes a not horrible "Truck Gun" until I fabricate a larger (yet low profile/subtle) secure locking enclosure for something like my 10.5 AR pistol😎😜. Anyway, Cheers! 🍻👍!!
Luckily stumbled upon this holster for my sar k2p. Never heard of safariland before I found it at Academy... but you can bet your ass it stays on its own independent belt now... and if it aint on my side, it's hangin close to where I take off my boots.
KB32, Are there any holsters with higher level of retention that you could recommend for the CZ P07/P09, OWB? Would also like to know how you feel about these kinds of holsters when it comes to open carrying a firearm? Thank you for any guidance and knowledge you might be able to share and God Bless you sir.
I have a Springfield 1911 and sometimes the gun trips the switch that locks the gun in the holster. I have to manually press the part that locks the gun. Their are shims that need to be installed but I got no instructions with the package. Any suggestions?
If you actually watch my video , you'd now I was bragging about this holster 6 moths ago. As a matter a fact used it with my X5 last weekend and uspsa competition. :)

What is the Safariland part number of the holster?
Can you write the Safarilamd code for the holster for the CZ P-07? Glas 578-xx-xxx? Thanks!
I have been running the Bladetech and it runs great for IDPA
From what I have read, there's a retention screw to adjust the "grip" ...

Thank you so much for this. Saved us all hours of research. Well not me, I wish I had seen this sooner.

Nice holster and nice to go on the ride of you preparing for the 3gun match....
That's what I've been carrying my g17 in. it fits all my pistols.
Will it fit cz shadow 1 or 2? Thank you,.
Can't you adjust the retention with a Allen wrench so it's not so tight? Carry On?
Yes you can he needs to loosem the bottom screw
3 years ago now. Ahhh... this holster doesn't 'break-in.' You're just doing it wrong. Hopefully, by now you've got it all figured out.
Man I know this is a CZ video, but that Sig is soooooo sweet!! Great stuff brother!
excellent video i use for variety of full size M&Ps great holster
this old so im sure someone already told u to use the allen key for the tension screw on the side of the holster to loosen a bit.
** Isn't there a retention screw to make adjustments on the holster based on pistol thickness? **
That's awesome Kota!
How do you feel about the holster a year later?
I would have no problem suggesting it
Just use the hex wrench to loosen it, that holster fits hundreds of guns. Fit full 1911, mp shield, beretta 92 and most things in between
Jonathan Lestingi it was nerve racking watching
Nice versatile holsters.
Hope it works well, I've been looking for another option to run during IDPA.
Do you know if it would fit a cz75b. Or even a cz75 compact or the p01? Which model gal did you have. Thanks
Red white and blue lives matter nice holster good review thank you kotaboy 32
Would a CZ75B fit this holster like the other CZs, look like it would, I'm just not sure.
You still using this holster? Will it also fit p-07?
Nice setup! Wish you luck brother.
@ KOTABOY32. Is there a retention device other than the trigger guard lock? That seems like an awfully tight fit to me.
Luckily stumbled upon this holster for my sar k2p. Never heard of safariland before I found it at Academy... but you can bet your ass it stays on its own independent belt now... and if it aint on my side, it's hangin close to where I take off my boots.
Nice holster! Looks like once you get the break in done it should perform really well for ya.
Good holsters they do take some time to break in
Thanks, I think that will work with my Tristar P100 !!!
I didn’t get the sticker 😮😢

If you're not worried about price, Dara Holster makes one for about 120
i thought for sure you were gonna pull the grip tape off the gun ! :-) cheers brother man, have a good evening
I recommend you put something soft on the inside of the front so it doesn't wear the finish.

Nice!
That should work great
Looks nice!
Nice holster.
will this holster fit cz 75 sp-01 regular not shadow, glock 19 and a sig p226?
Will this fit Taurus g3
They have a guide for what pistols it will work with
What template did you use to do your grip tape grip cutout?
I made the template. Just take a piece of paper and start cutting till it works. It's very simple. Think I did a video on it
Now your talking I have ones for glock 35 works great.
Oh damn, your still making videos? Awesome. I thought you gave up UA-cam. lol.
If you actually watch my video , you'd now I was bragging about this holster 6 moths ago. As a matter a fact used it with my X5 last weekend and uspsa competition. :)
The September 11 Benghazi attack as well
Pj holster is way better, god bless all people in despair
That holster doesn’t fit your gun
You need a wide long version
That thing looks like a POS....no thanks...
