I recorded the audio of this exact show as a 12 year old, on a cheap reel-to-reel tape recorder, because The Animals were on it. I listened to John Byner more than The Animals and this got me hooked on impressionists, and memorized his act. This brings fond memories. The tape is probably disintegrating in a box in somewhere in the garage. Thanks for sharing.
I love this guy. I’d forgotten all about him. Some news reader introduced a guy that sounded like “John Byner” . Sounded familiar . I looked & found you. Thank you. What a wonderful memory!
ed got back at byner on his next appearance ed would of course be off camera and would give the performers a cue when they were suppose to start their main monologue, on byner''s next appearance he said ed walked up while still off camera and looked towards byner but then turned and walked away without giving him his cue. Byner said sullivan was laughing so hard and to bad that wasant on camera.
Wow I didn't know he went back that far .... I saw a clip of him on the Carol Burnett show (Cowboy Dance ua-cam.com/video/WY1Mq75YXv0/v-deo.html ) and then I looked this up from one of the comments! As an 80's kid , I remember him mostly from the Bizarre Show (Canadian show) which introduced Super Dave Osbourne to the world LOL

...I did the SAME THING - and with the same outcome...prolly rotting somewhere...I recorded the comedy to do it in school on the following Mondays
Go get it🎉
Amazing! He's spot on. Thanks for sharing.
I remember watching John Byner perform on The Mike Douglas Show, Johnny Mathis was guest host and was deeply flattered by John's imitation.
The guy is a genius.
Always loved John Byner. I expect I saw this live at the time.
Now, I remember why we loved John Byner so much back then! I had forgotten. Thank you for posting this great memory.
such a talent.
I'm old enough remember the ed Sullivan show, and this is a great impression of Ed and the singing is dead on
I've watched this video more than 10 times, and I laugh harder each time
Love this guy
this guy had a ridiculously funny show of his own
He did over 300 characters in 3 seasons. Amazing
He was incredibly great on Bizarre with Bob Einstein.
The voice of my favorite cartoon character Aardvark on the Pink Panther show
You can hear the audience gasp with amazement when he started his Johnny Mathis bit.
Met him in texas very nice man
...he was GOOD!!!
IS GOOD!😁

Still very much alive in 2023….
Will Jordan, John Byner, Jason Mason an some few others did the best Ed Sullivan impersonation.
Great Johnny Maphis!
Johnny was most likely watching live if he wasn't busy. Many celebrities watched the show especially ones who appeared regularly.

You know, in Mr. Byner's audiobook, he discusses this show and the backstage titbits.
I remember that Byner used to do
an imitation of Robert Kennedy calling him Kenny Bobbety. Of course, this act ended after the
assassination.
Great !!! Time Machine please !!
😂😂EXCELLENT
JOHNNY M. 💙💙
David Spade in black and white? Just kidding. Byner is awesome here!
Now that's a suit!
Only an bot would "thumb down" something this classic.
Beat impressionist besides Frank Gorshin
This was from the same show where Jackie Mason's infamous "finger incident" occurred.
