Looks promising. Their website is a mess though. Couldn't find anything, let alone a download for this. So I gave up and downloaded RetroArch instead. Works great and is much less confusing.

This is great. I am so old school that when i heard that this would run on a very low end and ancient PC, i thought to myself, "I wonder if this would work on my pentuim 2 and pentium 3 computers.
I bet it would tbh mate. I did mine on an old laptop, even lesser than the one I shown ion the video. A mobile i3 with 4GB of RAM and no GPU and was fine :D
I know that these setups are designed with console controls in mind, but I'm curious about a front end that has visuals and meta data compatible with point and click adventure games. And maybe sorts them by company. I just like the idea of having a library fully set up and with a nice interface.
yeah, they just seem to add packs as they go along. As most of the work is already done I spose its just a case of making the packs stable for the PC front end... I hear lots more systems on the way
I want to use a better front end than Retro Arch that also allows retroachievements. Is there any others that allows you sign in and use retroachievements other than Retro Arch?

Awesome video man. It's my opinion that Launchbox with RetroArch is the best setup for emulator pros. I have my old emulator PC hooked up to an old 52" TV and use bluetooth to pair my Xbox One Controllers to it. Went ahead and spent the money to buy Bigbox, and it's absolutely amazing. Did take a lot of tweaking, but have several emulators you didn't list here like Mame, Neo-Geo, PS1, PS2 and more.
Perfect timing! A mate gave me an old laptop (Dell Latitude D620) to install retro stuff on. I have installed Windows XP so now going to try this out. Hopefully it works. Of course not expecting it to run gamecube, anything high spec but old stuff up to N64 should do.

I love the direction Emulation and front ends are going... everything is done for you out of the box... just bring your own games. When you get these pre made hard drives... you tend to suffer from choice fatigue. You can’t make up your mind on what you want to play and when you do, your already thinking of what you want to play next... and as soon as you fail or get frustrated you are quick to bail and move on. When we were kids, we stuck with the game we had because it might be the only new game we had to play for months. I don’t see that anymore.
Yeah mate, the download is tiny and no setup required... I love it for my arcade as it "just works" and is so simple to use on an arcade setup. Worth a download even just to try
I gotta say, I want expecting it to be so well configured either. At minumum, you alyas have to setup the emu or controls, bezels or something... this one was just good to go. So easy to review as all I had to do was game hehehe
This + Ps1, ps2, ps3, wii, wii u, gamecube, and dreamcast would be fine for me. I was looking at openbox originally but I didnt wanna do all the setup as I've grown tired of doing full installs, I'll keep this in mind for future, especially since it supports Linux.

Lucky me I have my own ftp emumovies account. But there something I brother for a quite while. Recently I download a huge pack of nessica games and also the fronted. Strangely it doesn't run them. One question, do I have let the games zipped or unzipped? And which part of the folder should I let them?
its a mission mate. You will have to unzip, but I dont know what your setup is like, but if its not configured you have to set each game up individually
It depends on what you want. Arcade games are currently expected to be zipped as are some other systems I believe. Some systems are currently set up to use unzipped files. You can basically change that by changing the extension in the settings.conf file of each system. As long as your emulator supports it (and MAME does), RetroFE will support it as well. The designated folders are also defined in settings.conf, and currently differ depending on which version (Micro, Lite, Gold or Packed) you use.

oooooh man that retropie card pack theme!!! Could you imagine a 3d version where you browse the shop counter( as platforms), and then when you select one you get to open a pack hearthstone style and get 10 random cards (games) to pick!!!!! I would pay someone to make that for me!!!
Simply Austin one thing I keep requesting over on the launchbox forums is assignable hotkeys, specifically for the pick random game function. With access to all the games being so easy the main (first world) problem I have is wasting 30 mins just scrolling deciding what to play! Narrowing it down for you would be a great feature.

If I recall correctly, it uses a modified version of 0.196, which sorts out some playability and control issues. You'd have to ask BritneysPAIRS for the details, since he's the one who made it.
Another fantastic video, Austin! When you say “just add games” do they need a specific naming method or will the front end just detect what they are? (If that makes sence lol).
Sets are based on HyperSpin 1.0 XML files and standard MAME; you should be able to find matching roms easily. The front-end will use any rom really, but if you want it to show the matching artwork the names need to match.
I couldn't install it, everything went ok with the download ant the extraction, but It doesn't open, some trouble with the "atiadlxy.dll" and stuff.. makes me sad dude..
If we have to bring your own games, what romset do you need to match everything else? No-intro? And if yes, where do you get the most recent version of that if say, you're out of PleasureDome? :)
I believe they use TrueRip... but NoIntro naming of the sets should work perfect too. I use NoIntro, but for some systems it may be worth asking the devs on the Discord I linked. I may give out the wroing kind of info :D
Mega giant CHUBBY. Looove trying out different FEs so far I keep goin back to launch box though. It is a bit finicky sometimes though. I’ll be trying this one!
Looks great. Especially being able to have games all in together and not separated by system. Unfortunately the real difficult part seems to be actually downloading it. Signed up to two different websites and now I need some kind of invite code that I apparently need to ask for on a discord channel I can't find (separate to the actual CoinOps one that is linked here). I'll check back at a later time to see if it has gotten any easier.

Ughh, and I just paid for BigBox the other day. Sure, I am glad I supported one of the many frontends... but still haha. Still gotta stick with big box because of its support for the newer systems though. ALTHOUGH I WISH the problems with all the MAME games, Arcade classics, FBA, etc. would "just work" controller wise like they apparently do with this new frontend :)
OK pinpointed a couple mistakes Maggie isn't playable in the Simpson arcade, I'm assuming u wanted to say Lisa but that's understanding and "PC ENGINE" not "PC EXPRESS", but all in all great video presentation

You can add whatever games you want to either tbh as far as I know. The FE picks up on whats i the ROMs directory. More details on packs will be in the Discord from what Im seeing
Will you one day do a collect where you can store you pc just you can with Retro Game because site like Steam are just a bit messy especially when they use list? 👍🏻 Because one day modern Game will be Retro.
So, do u wanna say , that all that game artwork on games is inside the coin already? -edit, after carefully examining build, it seems it is packed with artwork and snaps, it doesnt supprise me that emumovies is making them post on their site, they probably made "Claim" on it. Knowing EM they tend to Claim right to every artwork/snaps made for emulation gaming everywhere
Any word on if they're going to make a build (linux+Front End) specific to raspberry pi? This would be perfect for the mini-arcade I'm looking at setting up; as opposed to Retropie or Lakka. Heck, this would even be a good alternative to Arc Browser on my Nvidia Shield. I do agree though that Launchbox is still the best option on PC, just more work to set up.
There's plans to do so, but nothing concrete yet. RetroFE runs fine on the Pi, but the rest of the setup needs to be converted since the Pi uses different emulators and the .bat configuration scripts need to be converted as well.
Most of the time I just use the basic Launchbox theme (Very cool how you can customize that now btw). Attract mode types are great when you are showing people how cool it can be, or on an arcade cab, but it's just too busy for a home PC only I use. Unobtrusive would be a good word for what I like. I do have a question though. Are they using any standalone emulators or all Retroarch cores? I'm assuming all Retroarch, but thought I'd ask.
No retroarch at all from what I have seen so far mate. All standalone... MAME, WinUAE etc etc... I like how smooth they got the launch and exit etc and with the real MAME version you get such better filters if your into that stuff

I know that it takes quite a bit of time if you do it yourself... especially for stuff like WinUAE that aren't the most user friendly things out there lol. Usually you would have to sacrifice some quality for the sake of compatibility, but this seems like the best of both worlds. Great find!

I definitely ran Spectrum games through Coin Ops on my original Xbox. I guess it came with a pack since I bought it preconfigured.

I still have Hyperspin on my arcade cabinet that I configured many years ago. Yeah, that wasn't easy to setup at all. It's still good though.

yeah, worth a look around to see whats going on with them. Launchbox ios a great option, but some setups are better for some tastes and needs :D
They need to make one of these front ends with built in screen capture functionality to auto save video snips of games you play.

oooooh man that retropie card pack theme!!! Could you imagine a 3d version where you browse the shop counter( as platforms), and then when you select one you get to open a pack hearthstone style and get 10 random cards (games) to pick!!!!! I would pay someone to make that for me!!!
hahaha... now that does sound like an interesting concept. You can randomize the games, but I like that idea better :D
Simply Austin one thing I keep requesting over on the launchbox forums is assignable hotkeys, specifically for the pick random game function. With access to all the games being so easy the main (first world) problem I have is wasting 30 mins just scrolling deciding what to play! Narrowing it down for you would be a great feature.

If I recall correctly, it uses a modified version of 0.196, which sorts out some playability and control issues. You'd have to ask BritneysPAIRS for the details, since he's the one who made it.

When you say “just add games” do they need a specific naming method or will the front end just detect what they are? (If that makes sence lol).
Sets are based on HyperSpin 1.0 XML files and standard MAME; you should be able to find matching roms easily. The front-end will use any rom really, but if you want it to show the matching artwork the names need to match.

If we have to bring your own games, what romset do you need to match everything else? No-intro? And if yes, where do you get the most recent version of that if say, you're out of PleasureDome? :)
I believe they use TrueRip... but NoIntro naming of the sets should work perfect too. I use NoIntro, but for some systems it may be worth asking the devs on the Discord I linked. I may give out the wroing kind of info :D
Most of the sets of packed are based on the HyperSpin 1.0 XML; you can find a matching set on PD.

Looks great. Especially being able to have games all in together and not separated by system. Unfortunately the real difficult part seems to be actually downloading it. Signed up to two different websites and now I need some kind of invite code that I apparently need to ask for on a discord channel I can't find (separate to the actual CoinOps one that is linked here). I'll check back at a later time to see if it has gotten any easier.

Ughh, and I just paid for BigBox the other day. Sure, I am glad I supported one of the many frontends... but still haha. Still gotta stick with big box because of its support for the newer systems though. ALTHOUGH I WISH the problems with all the MAME games, Arcade classics, FBA, etc. would "just work" controller wise like they apparently do with this new frontend :)
OK pinpointed a couple mistakes Maggie isn't playable in the Simpson arcade, I'm assuming u wanted to say Lisa but that's understanding and "PC ENGINE" not "PC EXPRESS", but all in all great video presentation

You can add whatever games you want to either tbh as far as I know. The FE picks up on whats i the ROMs directory. More details on packs will be in the Discord from what Im seeing

Like the emu frontend but the lack of disc based systems kinda hurts.
yeah, still early days though. They managed to go from 4 to 18 systems in less than a week on their own. I hear PS1, PS2 and GC are next on the list.

So, do u wanna say , that all that game artwork on games is inside the coin already? -edit, after carefully examining build, it seems it is packed with artwork and snaps, it doesnt supprise me that emumovies is making them post on their site, they probably made "Claim" on it. Knowing EM they tend to Claim right to every artwork/snaps made for emulation gaming everywhere
Any word on if they're going to make a build (linux+Front End) specific to raspberry pi? This would be perfect for the mini-arcade I'm looking at setting up; as opposed to Retropie or Lakka. Heck, this would even be a good alternative to Arc Browser on my Nvidia Shield. I do agree though that Launchbox is still the best option on PC, just more work to set up.
There's plans to do so, but nothing concrete yet. RetroFE runs fine on the Pi, but the rest of the setup needs to be converted since the Pi uses different emulators and the .bat configuration scripts need to be converted as well.
Most of the time I just use the basic Launchbox theme (Very cool how you can customize that now btw). Attract mode types are great when you are showing people how cool it can be, or on an arcade cab, but it's just too busy for a home PC only I use. Unobtrusive would be a good word for what I like. I do have a question though. Are they using any standalone emulators or all Retroarch cores? I'm assuming all Retroarch, but thought I'd ask.
No retroarch at all from what I have seen so far mate. All standalone... MAME, WinUAE etc etc... I like how smooth they got the launch and exit etc and with the real MAME version you get such better filters if your into that stuff

I know that it takes quite a bit of time if you do it yourself... especially for stuff like WinUAE that aren't the most user friendly things out there lol. Usually you would have to sacrifice some quality for the sake of compatibility, but this seems like the best of both worlds. Great find!

EDIT: Does this version of CoinOps allow for you to change the layout so it shows the game box art like how many emulators were able to on the original XBOX?
You should be able to add that into the theme without too much trouble by reading the RetroFE documentation.
