I saw a homeless guy outside my grocery store and I didn’t even think, the first things I did was get a fresh fruit cup, a small tray of veggies with dip, a large sun sandwich loaded with meats and veggies, a few bottles of cold water and a bowl of mushroom soup. I also ordered either a tea or a hot chocolate from the in store Starbucks… I paid for the food and took it outside and offered it to him - and wow he was so incredibly generous in his gratitude, the way he spoke, he was so kind. I said I had something from Starbucks coming too and went back in to collect it. And he was eating the soup when I came back out. What surprised me is usually I spend a bit more time thinking about helping someone and that wasn’t the case then, I just did it. And wow, his gratefulness it really stood out, cause I know I haven’t been grateful like that in a long time.
I just videod a Robin singing in the garden before watching this. He was just singing with the joy of being alive. It made my day.

When one little negative thing pops up… turn towards the positive, turn away by being truly grateful for your eyes or your ability to read or hear or taste. It’s a miracle.
Gratitude is shown living in each moment. He is so correct about giving attention and appreciating. His description about gratitude with the table, trees, etc was spot on and inspirational. That's how manifestation works.
Grateful for food in my stomach, roof over my head, socks on my feet, , my parents taught me to be thankful for small blessings,I don't do it to manifest a better future,, just to enjoy the moment
being grateful for the hard challenges as well--there are many lately, but I see how they are coming up and how I am able to respond better (inside I feel ok) not sick to my stomach like before--and I just keep going knowing it is teaching me--letting me practice what I need
so this brings bad stuff!

I think gratitude is the opposite of complaining 🥰
Eckhart points out that gratitude is not a result of perceived comparatively favorable state. Super subtle, and being grateful because you have it better than most or it can get much worse is simply chasing an ideal state that simply doesn't exist in the present. If you are genuinely grateful, you will realize the value of gratitude simply because you have so many wonderful things.

I have eyes that can see. I have ears that can hear. I have a heart that feels. I have a mind that grasps. I have a conscience that teaches. I have a body that performs. There is peace in my land. There is peace with me and my God. There is a love in me I can share. There is access to water all through my house. There is a comfortable bed in my bedroom to rest my body upon for hours overnight. There is light every morning. There is good I can make happen. There is surprise blessings every day. I have an eternal home with my Savior waiting for me...etc..The gratitude I have can keep on going, as far as the east is from the west.

Thank you for these ideas today. Many speak about Gratitude these days. I thought I always had to start with the words "I'm grateful". I appreciate hearing that I'm showing gratitude when I'm feeling moved by the beauty/goodness around me. This feels more natural to me.
I am grateful to be experiencing the fullness of life.
I'm grateful and have mucho' appreciation that you share these observations. The now. Inner body awareness. Those two easy thought reminders change lives. I can connect now with the beauty how it feels to be present and in the now The birds of paradise in bloom, the ocean, the connection to nature, the inhaling of cool salty air, and just walking, observing, and feeling the now. ET is on point.
I see gratitude as treasuring all. There is truly no good and bad; it only appears that way. Hence, I have no regrets. All is usable.

It does seem helpful to always keep in mind that you in fact have been born into fortunate circumstances. It's not about comparison, it's more about safeguarding against taking things for granted. Knowing that a hot shower is actually an immense gift keeps you rooted closer to the essential factors of life. We know this, to some extent, because we know many don't get to experience them, which in turn helps us to work to make sure others might one day enjoy a hot, clean shower. Dave

For me Gratitude leads to the opposite effect: Whenever I am grateful for something and I write it down, I these exact things vanish from my life shortly after. For example, I was grateful for the guy that I met and the nice time we had spent together and only 2 weeks after our relationship was over. The same with my dog, that brought me so much happiness, he was bitten and nearly died. I am so scared to be grateful, because I know that the things that I admire so much in my life are taken away from me, once I appreciate them.
