My Dad told me over 70 yrs ago, "never be afraid to ask questions, if you don't know something" Nine times out of ten you will get your answer, and gain knowledge. and I've never forgotten that , and your video proved that out again!. great video and thanks for showing it and sharing it.

I've worked on my own lawn equipment and learned a lot from my dad. God bless his soul. If he were here today he'd watch these videos too. He never took a lawnmower or chainsaw to a shop. He did his own work. We'd go get the parts we needed and went to work. Hope the younger generation is watching these videos and learning something from them.

That's great. Glad you got it running. It's great that a little help from your audience did the trick. There's no shame in admitting you can't fix something because for everything you can't fix there's about a 100 things you did fix.

YES!!! I’m so happy that my suggestion was the solution! That 50% acetone shouldn’t sit in there too much longer, though. I’d flow a bit of kerosene through when you get the chance soon, and then regular bar and chain oil after that! The feeling of fixing something you’ve had for a long time is priceless.

I love your videos. I'm self-taught in many things, but with many videos like yours and others on UA-cam, I'm always learning something new. The best lesson I ever learned in school was in the fifth grade from the best teacher I ever had. He stood before the class and told us "When you graduate from high school or college, you are not out of school. Life is a school and you must never stop learning!" That was a lesson I'll never forget and it worked well for me ever since. Of all the things I've learned, my best skill is fixing things and sometimes things that are considered to be unfixable. That's why I got the nickname 'wizard'.

Congratulations Steve!! Like John B. said....it's very rewarding to get a piece of equipment brought back to life! YOU...deserve to have it working! You have no doubt helped thousands of followers with their own equipment and provide an invaluable resource to anyone willing to learn. Thanks again for sharing.

Steve, what I like best about your videos is that you get to the point without needing 20 minutes of BS to getting to 5 minutes of information. Ever since I found your channel (youtube didn't "recommend it") it's the first place I look when I have a problem or question on a small engine. Are you ever going to run out of problems to solve? I genuinely hope not.

Just open it and place it on your venerable workbench in honor of all of those you view! Yeah! May the wood you cut with that John Deere warm the hearts and toes of many who sit around your fires!

I will say this however, you guys up north must not have to deal with the 'safety' chain crap that us folks down south have to deal with! Your saw went through that piece of wood like a hot knife through butter!!! Good work brother!!!

I have had a 70v John Deere for 35 years & I still use it. Its a beast of a saw because it never causes any problems just a carburetor kit and 3 or 4 bars plus many chains. live in central Minnesota it outlasted my uncles new
Steal chainsaw. Yes we burn wood still enjoy cutting wood.

Steve, love the videos. You're an excellent instructor/teacher. One request, when adjusting the carburetor on small engines explain why you adjust the setting from highest rpm to back out until it just slows down. BECAUSE: ".............. ". Because, making the setting rich protects your motor during full throttle response,? Because this setting positions the throttle for quicker response?.You do a great job of telling what you are doing, not everyone understands why you're using those settings. Keep it up!!! Great job👍

Glad it worked for you. BTW you can do that with a newer saw but it's a little more complicated to do and requires 2 people (or 1 person who has a complete disregard for safety and a zip tie). What you have to do is have one person rev the saw to get the pump moving while the other mechanic pressurize the tank. We do it to sthil and echo saws daily in the shop. Happy cutting
