I was rewatching this and I can't believe I missed the first time that your opponent also made the bad riichi

Really great video! Im starting to play riichi mahjong and I plan to play more in the near future. Is there a chance you can make a video about choosing what yaku to pursue in various situations? Thanks for the content!

Thanks! Good to hear new people getting into the game!
Yaku is a topic I have been trying to figure out the best way to approach for a while now- a couple people have expressed interest in it! Your understanding of yaku is going to evolve as you get more into the game, though. The short version is that yaku aren't really "chosen" so much as you allow your hand to form into a yaku. At that point, keeping flexibility is key, to allow the opportunities for the yaku to come up, and the true decisions are when to cut off avenues for those yaku to appear. I may be able to detail this one a bit more- I was looking for a project next week anyway!
      Thanks for watching!

@@Crow77 That's some good advice. I've taught myself by playing on Tenhou and did pretty okay, but now that I switched to MahSoul for the quicker matchmaking I keep getting smashed, because I never looked up how to form yaku or how to not end up in furiten.

Overt title: when to (not) Riichi
not so overt title: Crow_77 owns some chinese players in a tournament, despite odds stacked against them and their team.
