i worked at walmart for about a year in 2005-ish working in the Tire and Oil change area. My greatest "walmart" moment was a guy trying to steal a VERY large screen TV by running out the back entrance (though our car department). As he ran through, about 6 cops were chasing him and he got tased just as he got to the parking lot and he and the TV went flying between the cars and a rugby teams of cops jumped on him. I sorta applaud that the dude thinking he could outrun so many cops while carrying a HUGE TV but I also commend those cops for putting on a fantastic "taser" show for everyone in the vicinity of the action. It was like a live performance of "COPS" tv show. Highly amusing.

I worked at Wal-Mart for 5.5 years. The two people who come to mind when you think Walmart trashy are the guy who came in wearing absolutely nothing but was so large his stomach covered his personal areas, but management didn't kick him out until a CUSTOMER complained ( the employees didn't count we had to suck it up), and the person who tried to return a used pregnancy test. I did not bother asking her what was wrong with it. I told her it was a biohazard and that she had to contact the company. I also yelled at her for trying to put it on my counter which I had just cleaned.

The last time I was in Walmart, I exited with my grocery cart and noticed a woman with a ton of kids standing next to a rack of bicycles waiting as a clerk unlocked a chain running through the merchandise. The second the bikes were freed her kids each grabbed one and started peddling through the parking lot dodging around the cars. I stood there horrified someone would accidentally run over the youngest on a small tricycle too small to be seen. Just then the oldest boy dashed by and grabbed my purse out of my shopping cart and sped off with it. A customer in the parking lot watching the whole episode whacked the kid knocking him off the bike and handed me back my handbag. Cops told me this woman and her kids had done this before at another Walmart. There is often times some crazy drama going on at my Walmart!

After working for a Walmart Supercenter (open 24 hrs) for 5 years on overnights (10p-7a) I can confirm that you'll see alot of the WM crazies. Esp after the last call for alcohol goes out. Then there's a stampede to the registers to checkout before the register won't ring it up. I've seen the parent who forgot milk for the kids' morning breakfast cereal wearing their robe & slippers to the very tired factory worker who's just hungry & wanting to go home at 4a. So there are a number of WM crazies at any time of the day at your local WM.

There are some real characters at Walmart. I used to work at a Walmart on the grocery side of the store. The most obnoxious customers was a family that we'd refer to as the "Marco Polo family". The family would split up and rush around the store, as if they were trying to break their own record for getting their shopping done in the fastest time. There's an old TV game show called "Supermarket sweep" where you're timed and have to rush around the store to find items. These people acted like they were contestants on the show.
It was super annoying because I'd seen them almost wipe out other shoppers. And if that wasn't bad enough they would also yell to each other from across the store. One group would yell "Marco!" and then you'd hear the other group yell "Polo!" from the other side of the store. Eventually they stopped coming around. Either they moved away, or maybe management told them to chill with running through the store and shouting Marco Polo to each other.

I actually worked at Walmart for 3 years. I started in the back room, basically unloading the trucks, and managed to get in the garden center. Some highlights from my time there:
1: had a lady complain her hibiscus tree was “too wet”, after we had a MASSIVE downpour.
2: A man legit asked me if I could “Angle the sun away from his eyes”, as he was getting glare from reading the mulch and soil bags.
3: When we were out of a product, a lady insisted that we had it, and even went as far as pointing it out in an ad… it was for Target.
4: An older guy walked completely by the section of lightbulbs, came to me in Garden, and asked if we carried lightbulbs. Further inquiries led to me walking him 20 feet to the CENTER of the lightbulbs, to which he replied, “oh, I didn’t see these.”
5: I had a Karen try to price match a gallon of milk with a Kroger ad, when I and my manager told her it wasn’t happening, her logical response was to hurl the gallon in question at our manager. She was arrested for assault.
6: I witnessed 2 fights during Black Friday; the first one was 2 college bros fighting over an Xbox 1; the second was 2 grandmothers fighting over a kid’s tablet.
7: Had a 6 year old climb our racks in the Garden Center, where we displayed the outdoor patio furniture, and was chilling in one of the chairs, until he realized how high he was. I had to rescue him with a candy bar and a toy, and was thanked… by the mother hitting me with her purse for giving him the candy.

Every Saturday night, I work removing last week's sales sticks from the shelves and putting up this week's. Since I hit almost every aisle in the store, I've found VERY interesting "abandoned" (empty, stolen product) packages on the shelves.
A couple weeks after I'd started, I found empty packages left in a kind of trail through the store:
    - condom package
    - pack of mini-incense sticks
    - cologne package
    - early pregnancy test kit package (came 2 in a pack, only stole 1)
    - package of Dove chocolates

All of a sudden a little girl [whom I found out later was his 6 year old daughter] came running up to him from the bathroom. She said something to him and Dad's head immediately snapped up and he went to the entrance of the women's restroom and stood there. To his horror, and mine, a grown man came walking out!! The next thing I know, the Dad was yelling at him and blocking him as he is trying to get away. I immediately said to the cashier that the police needed to be called, but she just ignored me and kept scanning the items. So I said to the cashier next to us to call the police. This man needed help. She too ignored me and kept scanning. So my mom said she would call on her cell but had to go to the entrance and I stayed to keep my eye on his kids while the Dad is doing his best to keep this guy from leaving. I again asked for help from employees, even asking for a manager, but got no help. So I did the next best thing I could think of and just started yelling for a manager. It was amazing how quickly a manager showed up and security as well!! When I spoke with the Dad later, he told me he chose that line because it was right across from the restrooms and he felt safe letting his little girl go in as he was a single Dad. When the little girl came out of the stall she was in, the man was in the stall next to her, grabbed her, and pulled her into the handicap stall with him. When he turned to lock the door, the little girl had enough since about her to maneuver herself around him and run out!!! I don't know how that Dad kept from putting his hands on the pedo, but he did!!

That is terrifying! One time when I was in a Walmart there a guy was clearly being abusive to his girlfriend. I was scared for her but at that point he wasn't doing anything that would cause the police to do anything. A Walmart worker and I were scared for her safety. When they went out into the parking lot as he got to his car he started yelling at her. He then picked up a rock and was about to strike her in the head. I yelled as loud as possible I'm calling 911. He immediately stopped and took off running. I did call the police and the Walmart employee and I stayed with her for awhile while I was on the phone. She had bruises on her but sadly she made excuses to protect him. She clearly had been beaten before. It's so sad that people in an abusive relationship find it so hard to leave.

@@ms.krueger2660same. Sad state of affairs but it happens. At a swanky restaurant down the road from us, there was a pervert who would hang out in the men's restroom and assaulted at least one boy. If it can happen there, it can happen anywhere.

I would also throw a fit after to get the cashiers in trouble or even fired. Its so sad that bystanders don’t help (except you) , but the employees needed to call 911, security, management, etc

I don’t know if he said anything to him but my nephew was super creeped out by his behavior. My sister complained to the manager but I don’t remember what the outcome was. The boxes that say reuse, Walmart gets $1 each box are supposed to be sent back when they are emptied, as part of their recycling effort, but a lot of businesses don't bother with it, easier to just throw out the boxes!

How much does shipping cost to return the boxes? If it's more than they'd get for recycling, makes sense.

    • @genericface
      @genericface 5 місяців тому +1

@@w1975b It doesn't. They would just give them back to the driver on the next shipment. This is more a deterrent against employees walking off with them for their own use, or destroying them instead of opening carefully and returning for reuse. It's a shame tactic "you just cost us a dollar".

My now middle son, now middle aged, was often torn between spending his allowance on a matchbox car or a Star Wars action figure. His budget wouldn’t cover both in the same week. His Walmart stunt was to take the item he was going to buy the next week to the Barbie doll section on the next aisle and hang it at the very back of a rack of “Barbie” accessories. Nine times out of ten, it was usually there the following week. Needless to say, he didn’t confess this routine caper of his until many years later. So even though I try not to be one of those Walmart weirdos, I’m afraid I’m the mother of one.🙄

Lewis, here is the back story on the kid with yellow shoes and yellow cape. Several years ago Walmart came out with an employee incentive perk. They were originally handed to customer service managers during the 'Back to School like a Hero' promotion. Customers were directed to speak with those employees if they had any questions about items parents needed to purchase for their children who were about to begin school for the new year.
Of course some employees were appalled to have to wear them and the slightly touched in the brain loved them. The kid in the photo obviously was told to go to the storeroom and find one of the capes that were left hanging on a coat hook. Notice the blue on the back of the cape is the six pin Walmart logo.

They did a bunch of grocery shopping , but what they brought us was not $400.00 worth. I notifiedthe store and the practice of allowing someone else to claim it for you was stopped. She pretty much always finds someone to strike up a conversation with and almost always prays with them or for them. She doesn’t just do that in an obnoxious way or force it on them. It’s usually after she’s talked with them for awhile and if they’re receptive or ask her to. She has so many interesting Walmart stories. She also was on the news one time because someone hit her in an intersection and she ended up praying with them and someone caught it on camera and sent it to the news station. That’s just the kind of person she is lol.

And people putting things down in weird places is just annoying, I swear sometimes I could literally follow the path they took around the store as I put stuff back. The boxes at the end are what we get small batch items in (like refilling hand towels and packs of pencils just so the shelves stay full) the recycled cardboard box itself costs the store one dollar IF not returned to the warehouse. Yes we bundle them up and place them on a pallet (25 per bundle and 12 per pallet).
