Good tip turning the bars against the forward foot. Thats also more natural direction for me to turn the wheel in air so could be more relaxed to whip on to "the wrong side". Got a DH bike for this season I guess its easier to whip with it when the double crown doesnt turn like a single crown.
Thanks For taking the time to create this video. I’m 53 and learning to whip. It makes me a little nervous because I don’t want to land sideways. This tutorial was great. I’m going to try this Saturday and I’ll let you know how it goes.
Your whip is your signature. Also, the correct way is to turn your bars like way #2 he describes here, and the way he does it. When people learn to whip without doing that, and worse even turning their bars in the opposite direction, is looks awkward. And if your whip looks awkward, you might as well not even be doing it.
some of the super steezy guys literally carve the shit out of the lip like you did on your second the last one. but keep the bars straight the whole time. Looks the best but probably the hardest to do right.
Not necessarily if you carve it definitely helps get the momentum moving in the right direction. And when you keep to bars straight you still are able to use your arms to move the front of the bike. Turning the bars just creates an easier way to get the back end out. There’s no right or wrong way to whip, just easier ways to get them going
How was it contradicting or confusing? I'm just explaining all the different ways to whip. There's a point where I contradict myself with "carving" but I explain how that technique is used on longer mellower lips and not short and steep ones. I also am emphasizing that there are endless ways of whipping but in this tutorial I explain how to do 3 specific types.
Thank you! This helped me a lot! I am a 54 years old man trying to learn how to whip 😆
Glad I could help 👊🏼👊🏼

Was using as an example of the look of it…it’s a trick that looks the same across the board when people do them. Thats what I was trying to convey 😅
@@jonsimek Haha, I know I'm just messing around!
This was so confusing. You contradicted yourself throughout the video. Pick a description and stick with it.
