Music is a beautiful match. That soft thump is as though we’re hearing the rhythm of the men (free and slave) build the epicenter of this young empire.
Before the civil war joe citizen could walk into the white house and ask to speak to the president. The security there was terrible until lincolns assasination.
Just finished the book, Empire of Mud, secret history of Washington D.C. This video was a great way to finish the story and add realism to the whole episode, Thanks
2:50 That is not a construction photo of that building. The building already looks very old and weathered and why are the bottom windows mostly covered by sediment? The actual bottom of that building is below the surface, this photo just shows the building being repaired. History is all a lie
Excellent. It's also nice when captions don't last so long that you have lost interest by the time the photo appears. Some video producers seem to assume that everyone has suffered severe head trauma in a car crash.
The photo at 1:48 looks like one of the very common "vanilla skies" photos one comes across where "construction" of these buildings are concerned. They've done so much doctoring/CGIing with these 19th century photos to keep their lies alive. Most of these pictures have men standing around, clearing posing for the camera, which was of course such a big deal then and people loved it and it showed. You see the horses and buggies/carts, and you just know they did not have the capability to construct these massive buildings that were made to last forever. The "great fires" that seem to have taken most of them down were not fires but some kind of directed energy weapons they already possessed at this time. You see a lot of proof of this in the photos of San Francisco, the "fires" and "earthquake" of either 1906 or 1908, I can't remember at the moment which year it was. But if you look at those photos and the condition of the buildings, and look around the area and see the pulverization laying about, it puts one in mind of what we saw in NYC after the "9/11 attacks". Just food for thought for those interested in researching truth in opposed to accepting the mainstream lies they are continually trying to force-feed us.
All those people in these photos are long passed on. Glad these photos exist. It's like looking into another civilization that existed right where we are standing. My great grandmother was born in 1865 and lived until 1966. Probably one of the last people from that time.
I've lived in DC for almost 30 years. It's amazing to see the building of these iconic sites that are still standing today. I only wish I could go back in time and walk these streets before all the barricades and fences were put up. I'd love to just walk up to the White House and gain automatic entrance-or the Capitol - and walk in any of the many entrances we can no longer use
Very interesting and informative. I work at the Capitol and have been there for 24 years. I learned a bunch of things from these photos, I did not know that the spot where they hung Wirz for war crimes as a confederate is where the Supreme Court stands now. It was also neat to see some photos of the streets surrounding the Capitol and White House and recognizing buildings that are still there today including some of the shops. Some of the houses that were shops in those photos are still storefronts today even.
The timing between each each frame is a bit too fast to read the text, absorb what it says and then examine the image that follows. So use the settings icon to slow the speed down and mute the music that plays so you can take it all in a bit easier.
WE did not build these buildings. WE occupied them. Built by the previous "Founders" (Masons), the ones overtaken by The "Free-Masons". They didn't build anything; they simply remodeled the buildings they got for free. This is why there are no construction plans or photos or drawings to be found. Those, if they ever existed at all, were burned up in the great "fires".
I JUST FOUND THIS CHANNEL, VERY GOOD I LIKE TO SEE THINGS CONCERNING THE CIVIL WAR AREA, THEY DO NOT EVEN TEACH THIS IMPORTANT TIME IN OUR SCHOOLS, WHAT A SHAME, KEEP THIS IMPORTANT TIME ALIVE, ALWAYS REMEMBER THE NORTH AND THE SOUTH FOR THEIR SACRIFICE FOR WHAT THEY BOTH BELIEVED IN
Digging shit out of the mud and patching things up. These people did not build these buildings from scratch which is why they look so aged already. Bullshit!!!
That view of the Smithsonian Castle is actually Murder Bay with the Smithsonian Castle as a backdrop. Murder Bay consisted of substandard and unsafe living conditions the poor and desperate men, women and children, loan sharks, illegal gambling games, sex workers, thieves, rapists, johns. Today that patch is called Federal Triangle. Rumor has it that the word "Hooker" came from a map of this area confining Civil War soldiers to one area for their low brow mayhem. General Hooker's map was labled "Hooker's Zone."
Great collection of photos, what I can’t understand is why did they build all these gigantic buildings but didn’t think twice to pave the streets, why are they all dirt roads?
The White House in 1859. Two years later Lincoln would be inaugurated and a couple of months later, the Civil War. Amazing photo, knowing what we know now.
Amazing that in 1863, during the battle of Gettysburg, only 84 miles away... there is photos of heavy construction going on at the Capitol building. I wonder if those construction workers could hear the sounds of battle on those hot summer days (Talking about cannons and such firing nonstop).
Zack x I remember reading somewhere that the cannon fire from Gettysburg was indeed heard in Washington, as well as several other locations up to 80 miles away.

Wonderful photos of our Capital's history! One thing I always wondered is how did people cope with hot summer days with all that heavy clothing, and no daily showers yuck! One final note... I am sure everyone of the people in these photos would roll over in their graves, if they saw how Washington has turned into money grabbing politicians who could care less what is best for the American people and keeping our country safe and prosperous!

Look up a couple of documentaries from US Capitol regarding the Cannon building and needed repairs that were started a few years ago. Horrible issues on just a 100 year old building...
I wonder who built all of these Romanesque structures and Castles across America and what happened to them... it's pretty obvious that the statues surrounding them at that time, some of which remain, have absolutely nothing to do with the America we learned about in American History. They want us to pretend that the "construction photos" for a new dome on the U.S. Capitol building or a new roof on The Parthenon (in Nashville) depict the actual construction of these buildings which were "found" here by our "Founding Fathers" as they are called. Whatever was done here and being kept hidden is the reason they burn books, make up beyond ridiculous narratives for their official stories, set arson fires to all of the museums, bombed out the downtown areas of every major city with the so-called "Great Fire(s) of ____" in the late 1800s/early 1900s (some of them more than once), and it is partly why they have censored the internet into virtual non- existence. All photographs of the days of olde, as well as drawings, maps, and art, are a very valuable resource we could use to see some truth about what was going on at this time in history. Unfortunately, the older black and white photos can be very easily doctored, esp. on the screen, but there are many which have not been tampered with. People now will mostly believe anything they are told and will not take the time to see what can be discovered with a careful or often even a cursory review of old photographs, drawings, or art. I have been researching photos, etc., like these when I can find the time to for a few years now, and my findings have led me to believe that we have probably not been told the truth about much of anything related to our history. It should also be apparent to anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear that right now, at this moment in time, we most certainly are being lied to and the people are deceived at an unprecedented level.
