  • In part 2 of Leica SL3 Behind the Scenes, I sit down with Head of Product Experience Nico Köhler to explore that the title means and what Leica has done most especially in the world of software.
NB: Leica provided transportation, food & lodging for a preview of the SL3 shortly before the official launch, but this is NOT a sponsored video. We did not get to keep any of the gear we were shown, there was no quid pro quo, no money exchanged hands, and - as always - the views expressed herein are absolutely my own.
Although clearly I am not unbiased when it comes to Leica!

Once again thanks for the video. My only problem will be getting my hands on an SL3. ...and paying for it

Hugh, Claudia, randomly discovered your channel a little over a month ago & was immediately impressed. Subscribe,…Check!!! Quality content such as this is a rare commodity amongst a vast menu of offerings. My unexpected retirement led to my having time to get back into photography. Your content is educational, informative and inspirational. Although, here in New Hampshire I don’t have urban street photography opportunities such as those in NYC, I find that I can incorporate such technique in shooting venues such as the Robert Frost Farm. I was even motivated to visit a local camera dealer and check out a used Leica Q2. . After holding it in my hands it was like,…Oh, so this is what he’s talking about!!! Maybe a Leica someday.
Wishing you continued success and growth. God Bless you both.

Thanks for the great videos. It was your videos talking about the importance to you of your mother’s Leica III, as well as the company’s history and philosophy, that first got me interested in Leica. Fast forward to today and I’m still watching but also enjoying making my own experiences with the SL3 I picked up on launch day.

It would be nice if the Leica FOTOS app could remotely trigger the connected camera that is in either the INTERVALOMETER or BRACKETING mode (it’d be ok to not see the acquired data if the time between exposures is too short). Of course, Leica sells a physical Remote Trigger for the SL2 and an old school manual shutter release cable will work with M digital cameras, but the CL has no such trigger option.

It looks like you and Claudia had a great time in Wetzler and love these interviews. I know I can't put a SL3 in my hands since it will create another itch I don't want to scratch and I just purchased a Q3 which I love and a Z8 with a bit of glass in the past few months. As much as I love the Q3 and the images I'm able to capture, I have not had as good of luck with Leica Fotos app as you. Sometimes it seems to take forever to sync or it stays in some type of connected mode after I'm done shooting and I find the camera hot inside the bag and a drained battery. Latest firmware on Q3, latest version of Fotos, iPhone 14 Pro. Hopefully I can get resolved with settings or software. Thanks for all your videos and hope to be in one of your workshops in the future.

Important feedback (although sorry to learn of your issues). I hope Leica reads your comments!

Hello to everyone. The Leica video was great talking about Leica cameras but I think we are forgetting ; That a brand new Leica cameras are out of reach financially to the majority of the consumers. Not to mention trying to get your hands on the actual Leica cameras. The average camera store does not shelf or carry such high end cameras because the average camera store will only carry what the store can sell to the average consumer or what the consumers are willing to pay.

We do sell them. But I think it's like owning a hand built car or dining in a Michelin star restaurant: You can enjoy it if you want to afford it.
But if you don't - you don't have to miss it. Because it will not make make you a better photographer or offer you anything substantially different in terms of producing pictures.
It's not something that anybody "needs", so you can always watch it from a safe space without being grumpy.

This video isn’t made for the majority of photographers.
