I am building a scale model of this car and really enjoying you taking it apart for me to be able to see all the components. It is great to see you enjoying your project and thank you for inviting us to watch. Your dedication to it is great to see.
Great work. I have an E24 myself that I’ve had since 1996 / college days. I am currently doing a full restoration. While the car is mostly great, I am after a show room condition. I have one advice for you: only buy genuine bmw parts when it comes to suspension. Yes, they cost more but will certainly last. That’s my experience from owning 23 BMWS of the E30/E28, and E24. Lemforder is what you want if you don’t want to get it from the dealership. It is the OEM or what BMW used with their logo. Good job and if you need any advice as I am well familiar with this car and many 80s BMWs, reply to this post. I have watched all you videos so far and liked all. Keep up the good work.
Great work! There is a story about how the King of Sweden and the male members of the Swedish pop group ABBA 1979 was in able to get BMW Munich to specially adapt tree 635CSI to comply to the Swedish pollution regulations at the time. They invited the top BMW management to a ABBA concert in Germany with VIP treatment. The Kings was a grey metallic and the other ones was dark blue metallic.
I'm enjoying your high quality, really well thought out videos. Full of great information too! You are clearly very passionate about your shark and I can't wait to watch your project as it progresses. By the way, there is a sneaky access port for the rear suspension top nuts. It's behind the rear seat backs, which unfortunately have to be removed for access. But you have more room to work and it will save you from having to get inside the boot.
Thank you so much! Someone else was kind enough to point out the access point for the rear shocks as well, but I decided to not use that option so I did not risk breaking any interior plastics getting it apart. I haven’t broken any (yet), but I took a vote and me whining about doing this from the trunk won.
With all my years compressing struts, I never thought of using a press. I will use zip ties on the spring when compressed to save my teeth. I hope you have footage of your track time with the miata.
It feels experimental at first to use the press, but after a half dozen times, you’ll be doing it in your pyjamas, with one hand, drinking the morning coffee.
Ooooh man, oops woman. I have wanted an E24 for "forEVER". I went through all this and more for my E30. Great looking job. (Even to be able to do the work…. Im jealous)
Nice video ! Me and my girlfriend are in love with the E24. One day we will own the ultimate driving machine ,too. I left you a Sub ! Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland !
Interested in the passenger side right front grille for the headlight if you still have a extra one one for your 635 I'm in your area I live in Plantation
Is everything ur doing necessary cuz i was thinking about buying an e24 and everything ur doing looks like something i cant do tbh and i dont have half the tools u got

@@mariemotors BMW did not start using brittle plastic until the 90s
Beautiful job and beautiful car! Love your enthusiasm!!

I have a couple of videos up, but also tons of footage that I need to pull off of the GoPro and edit down to watchable segments.
Great video! I had a E28 where I swapped in a S38B38 and this is all very familiar!
Great progress ;)
It used to break my heart to see these cars in my local scrap yard, unwanted apparently unsalvageable, thrown away like trash.
Subbed...gladly. Looking forward to all your content.

Where did you get the tool to press out the rear subframe/trailing arm bushings?
It's technically made to remove ball joints, but this is the kit: amzn.to/3vEYcBv
It has been incredibly useful across many projects.
@@mariemotors Thank you!! I hope you are feeling better.
