I’ve trained some Wing Chun but no one there was under the delusion that it was to be used for fighting in MMA... It is a very nice way to exercise though :-)
it's just a corrupt event there is nothing anyone can do about it sometimes the chinese are too patriotic to take an L same thing happened in the second fight of Yi long and Buakaw
Mad respect to Xu Xiaodong for *staying* in China to try to fix the problem instead of just leaving. Just on his name value alone as “the kung fu hunter” he could easily cash in on it at this point, but he’d rather suffer for change in his home.
Uhhhh, trust me, he wanted to leave but can't, go watch an interview with vice that he did, him and his manager got into a HUGE argument mid interview cause Vice asked a question about his social media being blocked and his manager literally sounded terrified about him mentioning ANYTHING about censorship and Xu Xiaodong literally yells at his manager to leave and all he can say is I KNOW WHAT TO SAY NOW GET OUT, then he looks at the guy from vice doing the interview and his reply to the question about his social media being blocked was "my life is normal everything is okay". I was blown away, how sad it is to live in a country like that, very little rights, China has stripped and ruined his life, I think at this point if he wanted to get out he would have to like sneak out of the country and lose EVERYTHING, his entire livelihood would likely be lost the moment he escaped with his family, its probably impossible tho without him losing everything he has worked hard for, I think at this point he stays because he literally doesn't want to lose everything he has worked so hard to build, but to be honest if he came to the US he probably would have a huge following and would be even more successful here.
Complete b.s.! First of all, building up your social credit score is relatively easy. You can feel free to look that one up on your own. Secondly, the Chinese government would be happy if he left. They wouldn't care if he did. In fact, Xiaodong did say that he would love to move to Australia; although, he would probably move to any western country. Notice how there were no takers. No country expressed any interest in him moving there. He would show up in Australia or the U.S. and immediately do the only thing he knows, start hopping online and attacking Taekwondo and Karate schools, calling them "fake" and then getting sued for it. He's a useful idiot only so long as he can make his western fans think that, by beating up older and smaller people, that he is somehow "disproving" the 800+ styles of Kung Fu. Just look at this fight as an example: Wing Chun doesn't claim to have any mystical powers or to use Chi. The commentators admitted that the guy he was fighting had successfully beaten fighters from other styles. So, what happened in this fight? Did Xu "disprove" Wing Chun? Did he "prove" that the fighter was "fake"? Or did a bigger and stronger man walk through his opponents punches and kicks, and land heavier blows or throw him to the ground? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.
Here’s my take on wing chun, I’ve never trained it and I don’t hate on any style out there. But most of the wing chun fighters online think they can spar/fight when only training their forms and moves with the wooden dummy. The only way you can make wing chun effective is sparring with tons of people with different styles and derailing off of wing chun a bit while still keeping its fundamentals. I can see wing chun can be effective if used right and having the user adapt their wing chun after hundreds of spars with other styles. I still think that wing chun is dope asf regardless. To me it’s more of an art to stay disciplined, rather than a fighting form.
My Sifu let us train with different UFC styles and we have no issues dealing with them....Sifu Mullins in Arlington, Tx is the truth and he always spoke about these none fighting Wing Chun schools. After we get so many hours of training he makes us go out and test it so when we come back he will correct the problem....
Wing Chun is dead in mainland China, Xu is just fighting semi-scammers (maybe they dont think they are themselves) with titles. I've trained in schools there and they never went beyond the very basics. America has better WC schools than China. HK has the best.
I really think people who like Wing Chun should try Jeet Kune Do, because the whole style is about adaptation, and traditionalism isn't gonna stop the fact that when you practice on the weaknesses of your style, you advance it.
You guys are basically me and my friend when we watch street fights and MMA videos. I'm the more energetic type, while my friend is the more chill and analytic one.

after Yi Long, Xu Xiaodong is my favorite fighter. if you watch this guy match you will know. strength is a real deal in real life. Yi long famous for the true fight, Xu Xiaodong famous for destroying fake masters. respect.
I showed this to my dad and he deadass claimed „The wing chun guy could have had a fair chance if he didn't wear a shirt that was so easy to grab on to.“ like, I can't.
This video convince me that Bruce Lee was right of changing Wing Chun to Jeet Kune Do in order to adjust to the situation or environment. As Martial Artist we shouldn't be afraid to spar with other fighter and their respective styles. That way we will know the weakness of our Martial Art.
I grew up loving kung fu. The philippines is kung fu crazy. I was heartbroken when bruce lee died but moved on to other idols: Meng Fei. Chen Xing. Wang Yu. I thought kung fu was unbeatable. This is martial arts so why do you keep going on about this guys Dong? Nobody cares how impressive this guys Dong is. Wing Chun is NOT effective vs MMA or Muay Thai. Wing Chun is NOT effective for a modern no rules street fight.

the thing that all y'all are ignoring is that in 80 years xu xiaodong is gonna suddenly drop-dead because of all the damage his chi has taken in these types of battles. :(
I'm a JKD instructor and in JKD we teach kickboxing, Muay Thai, boxing, Wing Chun and Wrestling, as well as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Wing Chun is the one martial art that doesn't really work against MMA. I actually sparred with a Tai Chi master and all I did was shoot, takedown and mount. I didn't want to hit him. He was helpless. Like a baby turtle.
I can imagine devote practitioners not wanting to give up. When you've dedicated decades of your life to learning your martial art, learning that it's basically not winning you real fights is a hard pill to swallow.

I practiced Shaolin Kung Fu when I was younger, so I have a profound respect for the Chinese Martial Arts tradition. But this over-mythization of traditional martial arts, to the point of stating that they give you superpowers, that they make you invincible I think is ridiculous, and anachronistic. Xu Xiaodong is my hero, now. It was about time someone punched the hard reality on the heads of these pompous assholes. I'm convinced Ip Man and Bruce Lee would agree with him, not Ding Hao.

Reality vs fiction lol which one are u
@@redlawton8896 TL;DR I think traditional martial arts are beautiful and healthy, but they surely don't give you superpowers. Anyone who say that is either ignorant or a conman. I hope I made myself clear now.
Shit if you put it like that when it comes down to a traditional Chinese martial art I respect the training in the elemental spiritual mindset training 100%
Considering how Bruce Lee is a pretty big reason that MMA even exists as it does today, I think 100% that he would agree with Xu Xiaodong.
The shaolin temple headmonk said that Xiaodong is actually doing a great service by putting fake masters in their place. Actual shaolin practicioners are the ones angriest about people lying about their tradition and using the shaolin name without consent
7:24 the little showboating head movements he threw in there between flurries was just golden. Psychological warfare at its finest
Ref: It's a draw.
Joe Rogan: Are you happy with this call? Right now how do you feel about this???
Xu Xiaodong: Bruce Lee you're a fake... I can beat you with only one hand... Come on...
Bruce Lee: Ok... I can beat you with no kicks and punches...
Xu Xiaodong: Really? Hahaha let's go...
Bruce Lee: *pulls out his nunchucks
I'm still curious where Bruce is pulling those nunchucks out of. 😂

Yep. We will do a breakdown of that ref soon. There's footage of him online teaching Shuaijiao.
Nah he gets respect tremendous heart

@@ryneagheilim9782 Referee =/= judges
No respect in accepting that decision, when he clearly lost.
I’ve trained some Wing Chun but no one there was under the delusion that it was to be used for fighting in MMA... It is a very nice way to exercise though :-)
That was ridiculous!... who are the judges for this??? They need their license stripped. There should be a rematch this week
I think they should just move on.. hahaha
it's just a corrupt event there is nothing anyone can do about it sometimes the chinese are too patriotic to take an L same thing happened in the second fight of Yi long and Buakaw
The judges have licenses? Who said that? You don't need a license to be a "master".
Probably they are the same judges for international parents 😂🤣🍻😁
I bet even the judges cant get a win against the mma guys😂
Really fun commentary! 🍻
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is such a hilarious fight. Is this the same event as that one-armed boxer that you showed me?
Yes. His fight was after Xu's fight and against Ding's master.

Mad respect to Xu Xiaodong for *staying* in China to try to fix the problem instead of just leaving. Just on his name value alone as “the kung fu hunter” he could easily cash in on it at this point, but he’d rather suffer for change in his home.
i've read that he can't leave china anymore because his "rights" have been reduced (and his family too)
Low Social credit score keeps him from traveling
@@Jayman1329 damn, good to be informed on this stuff. Thank you
Complete b.s.!
I like that you can see just how much Xu Xiaodong is enjoying this.
Always the best commentary with jerry 🤣
I'm bleeding, making me the victor. - Wimp Lo
if you bleed but you managed to land a ko on your opponent on the last round then it's alright...but it doesn't seems like the case in this one.
0:11 that coach was the only real kung fu master at the time ,look at that flip!
Yep. He likely knows Shuai Jiao. Shuai Jiao practitioners try to land on their feet because they don't necessarily always practice with mats.
Thumbs up for the amazing Ref.
Wow the full story is finally revealed. That was amazing.
The Ref is the real attraction of this fight 😂😂
"These open hand strikes, bro, what are you doing? Throw a fist." ... Bas Rutten would want a word with you :D
Bas Rutten was like, three times the weight of that guy... He also knew how to actually kick.
Palm strikes are useful in barehanded fighting so you don't hurt your knuckles. Wing Chun dude just doesn't know how to put power behind them.
Wing Chun fighter expertly blocked all the punches with his face, excellent technique 😂😂😂
Great commentary
Much appreciated
The decision of that fight reminds me of the Black Knight from the Holy Grail! lol
Tis but a flesh wound.

Fantasy VS reality, period!
Xu Xiaodong should've laughed at them very loud. 😂😂😂
My stomach aches from laughing.

I really think people who like Wing Chun should try Jeet Kune Do, because the whole style is about adaptation, and traditionalism isn't gonna stop the fact that when you practice on the weaknesses of your style, you advance it.
The other guy is a actual mma fighter its not about style its about training ...

I showed this to my dad and he deadass claimed „The wing chun guy could have had a fair chance if he didn't wear a shirt that was so easy to grab on to.“ like, I can't.
Does he still think that?
This is why Bruce Lee didn't rely on a single fighting style. Mixing the best of every fighting style will always be better.
@Miami Heat I didn't say he could beat everyone in a fight, did i? But i'm sure he would destroy you easily, smartass.
What happened? I think Xu is super badass for exposing them. But where are the bruce lees ang wang yus to save kung fu from the hilarious farce it has become? Is Qi la la that hope?
Thanks for recommending Meng Fei, Chen Xing and Wang Yu! We'll have to look at them in the future.
@@FightCommentary they were nowhere as good as bruce. light years away. still, they kept kung fu movies alive and they were not these pathetic bruce lee clones. but they had nice stories and were sort of transitional to the jacky chan era. This is martial arts so why do you keep going on about this guys Dong? Nobody cares how impressive this guys Dong is. Wing Chun is NOT effective vs MMA or Muay Thai. Wing Chun is NOT effective for a modern no rules street fight.
I saw the international wushu association logo in the jackets Of the judges, then, this fight was supported by that association, then, the wing chung was supoosed to be a "real" máster. And the draw, what a shame to the Martial art spirit, they life in a smooth dream.

At last round that win chun master abandon his wing chun discipline stance and do regular defense instict stance instead.
Yep
