    I completely love the idea of the 3rd set, HOWEVER, you are right. What jagex should do to fix the bleed issue, is make the lunging perk not do less damage, but actually work within berserk/sunshine/death swiftness. Along with the engine work required to fix overriding bleeds.

      Disagree.
      Having a Sunshine rotation and a 'downtime' rotation is a feature, not a bug (especially with magic).
      The issue with the third one isn't that it buffs bleeds to be worth using outside sunshine.
      It's that the build time is so long it's roughly as niche as Bik arrows, while being way less powerful.

    Ah, beautifully put. I was in the same boat after reading how the passives would function, and was even leaning toward wanting the 3rd option, until I was reminded of the flaws of DoT coding in the game. Now I too agree option 1 would be the favorite, and I like the consistency. I absolutely do not like the idea of option 2, as I’m blind and don’t want to depend on hoping to take notice of the RNG factor. (And I feel the audio team needs more credit for their work. Admittedly I’d love to get a sound effect for when I have max Residual Souls and Necrosis stacks, but I can only dream…)..
    I also think it is a cool idea to experiment with unlocking the basic abilities to be useable by both 2h and Dual-wield. But for a final product I want G-Conc locked to 2h. It is such a loathsome idea to take the most powerful staff not only in gameplay, but as an Elder Artefact… and just chuck it into a necklace. Perhaps add a passive to the staff giving it a crit buff to incentivize using the staff for its special attack.

    I’m surprised bleeds don’t get affected by prayers or curses or deaths swiftness ultimates. It always felt like they were underwhelming and now I see why. They could definitely benefit from a damage increase in that case. I didn’t know that they were unaffected until you showed that list. That’s a game changer for me for sure.

    Having only tried the beta for about an hour, as well as not really being a magic user; #3 is absolutely the most fun to use - the spam of bleeds, seeing all the hits at once, just pure joy. #1 would be my choice if they arent able to completely fix bleeds before the release of these weapons, but if they somehow managed to pull it off, #3 is the clear winner, by several margins.

      @@TheRSGuy Seems like we'll probably see a second beta if reworking bleeds is on their crosshairs for this weapon set, if there is I really hope they include other styles in the beta so we can be sure the bleeds aren't bugged for non-magic styles on release.

    I think the bleed option is best if we want a playstyle that can stand on its own without fsoa.
    A bleed centric playstyle could allow for breaking the "stack as much crit as possible" situation we're currently in.
    This also allows "Equilibrium aura" to see light for high-end pvm. All that being said, they will need a few changes beyond the what is in the beta.

    Great video! Hopefully the Jmods apply some good changes from the beta feedback, as there are definitely a few tweaks neeed with the proposed passives.
    I understand the purpose of the beta was to focus on the feel, not the numbers, but I think the CD reduction numbers do play heavily into the feel for each of the first two options.
    I ran a simulation using the numbers from the beta, and the following rules (ignoring adrenaline): Use WM whenever it's available, or any other threshold/ult/spec when at 0 insatiable stacks to get back up to 2 stacks. And the results came out as:
    Option 1: ~6.67 WMs per minute (WM/m)
    Option 2: ~7.5 WM/m
    Of course this isn't a realistc rotation, and if it were then the numbers would likely be closer than that.
    Option 1 would feel better if the CD reduction was increased by an extra tick as it would mean WM would be available exactly as the GCD ended, although this would bump the maximum WM/m up from ~6.67 to ~8.34. Alternatively, if the CD reduction stayed the same but 4taa was possible with the new wand and orb, then it would allow for 2 staff autos between each WM which would take an extra 2 ticks, pushing the GCD back in line with WM coming off CD.
    Otherwise, I think in its current form option 2 feels like the most fun option, but it definitely needs some kind of indicator that relieves the constant action bar scanning.
    As for option 3, I think too much needs to change regarding bleeds as a whole for it to feel like a good addition to the game.

    1 small correction i believe bleeds are affected by eruptive (though they arent by most other perks)
    i havent tried them but my initial reaction to option 3 is does it open up potential for a mage poison build? while you do have a point that bleeds dont synergize with most things, they can be extremely strong in poison builds
    they dont sound anywhere near as strong, but as you were describing them, i felt like the same description would also fit bik arrows pretty well, the longer the fight lasts your attacks and particularly your bleeds get stronger and stronger

    The third weapon set could use a third passive that allows bleed abilities to benefit from sunshines boost. Without the set, bleeds will not scale in damage from sunshine.

    I love combat betas because it gives me an opportunity to try new content 100% risk free and resource free, no matter how badly I mess up, the only thing I lose is time.
    Which imho is what "practice mode" should be ingame.

    The 25 stack corruption buff goes really well with rapid hitting abilities and from just that alone, it has my vote.
    Lots of dps increase potential from omni, gconc, abs, bleeds, tempest.
    The 50 stack buff gives a lot of adrenaline over time and would help a lot in long encounters

    I think the bleed effect would be nice as an alternate way to play mage, but you KEEP the charging so you can't use them with a crit build or something. Or make it so you can cast FSOA, switch to t95 dw, and then you stick them on for the rest of the sunshine. But buff the crap out of the bleeds. Make them HURT HURT especially when you walk with combust. that would be so cool. Or maybe make the special attack make it so bleeds can crit all as one and combust crit all at once as if it was walking. Spitballin here idk!

    I really like the idea of making the dual wields bleed focused, but yeah, they definitely need to fix bleeds for it to make sense. As of now I like option 1 the best for live, mostly because I hate rng proc effects.
    The whole walking bleeds thing is annoying and outdated anyway, there's probably room for some reward space in like a Greater Combust ability that just gets rid of that chore.
    As far as bleeds not stacking in group content, I recall them talking about potential ideas for that back during the combat beta so it'd be nice to see something happen there.
    And with bleeds not getting boosted by Sunshine, maybe that's just okay.

    I think we need either a new ultimate ability that synergizes with bleeds, or let bleeds be buffed by Sunshine, DS, Berserk.. Perhaps even both? RuneScape is currently lacking a massive oompf ultimate that isn't just damage or damage buffing. Something cool and special that really makes you feel amazing when you pop it. Whether or not that should share a cooldown with Sunshine is something the mods should figure out, but I think something like that could be the start of different build paths really setting a precedent in runescape.
    As for the DW, my favorite is for sure the Reset of Wild Magic. It's great and feels amazing. You're totally right that it makes you an action bar staring slave, which is terrible. If it had a cool sound effect or visual queue that was very obvious I think it could really show players what RS3 combat has the potential to be.
    Anyways im excitied for any of the passives as they are all cool, as long as we don't get FSOA EoF I will be satisfied. Great video once again Ryan!

    Currently, I'm of the opinion that all 3 should be scrapped and a new, more defensive passive should be cooked up (I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out):
    Magic is already the most defense oriented style, as it's the only style where camping in tank gear is a viable strategy thanks to Animate Dead, and on top of this, as a (likely unintended unintended) side effect of the GConc/GSonic changes, magic is now the only style that doesn't lose access to core abilities while shield camping. My vote is that instead of reverting that, Jagex actually leans harder into that and makes magic the default "tank" role for RS, and I think this is a great place to start that given the devs want to make it so each t95 forms a "core" that you build around for each style.
    However, if we're talking just the 3 given effects, I think effect 3 is the best one if only because it meets the stated goal of giving magic something to do outside a sunshine rotation (which, even then, I *really* wish it wasn't just a copy/paste from melee's ultimate -> bleed spam -> ultimate cycle)

    Definately prefer the third option assuming bleeds are changed, the first two are decent but don't solve the "outside of sunshine magic sucks" problem, spamming wild magic is also gets boring after a while because all it does is does damage, nothing else. Third option actually requires investing time to build stacks, you lose a ton of stacks swapping to another style to deal damage so the passive essentially becomes useless for a bridder since the dots dont get buffed within sunshine anyway, but for players that want to continue magic camping, you get to reap the benefits of all 3 which are all pretty powerful without even considering the special attack.
    The game needs more alternative builds to keep game play interesting IMO and the third option gives magic that opportunity whereas everything before that was just max ur crit chance and do damage which every other style already does lol, atleast now it shares some sort of similarity to melee bleeds but gets slightly different buffs that buff bleeds (haunted effect for magic and instant CDR reset and dot application)

      @@TheRSGuy That is true, though personally I would rather have them get this in game first and then find time to fix the bleed issue since I know they're aware of how bleeds are an issue in group encounters, maybe they'll do it during a gamejam or another beta.
      I wouldn't be disappointed if either of the first two are released but I would argue it doesn't solve the "magic sucks outside of sunshine" problem as you're mainly just doing what you already do outside of sunshine if you don't brid, just with a bit more adren and focusing on wild magic spamming instead of something like gstaff or iban eof

      @@tellusrs7773 tbh making all of the bleed hits hit in the same tick (which it sounds like that 3rd set does) may be what we in the business call a "workaround" (read: hacky solution that we hope is tempoary but realistically probably isnt :p) for the group encounters issue
      like when corruption blast damage is over 10 ticks, that is a huge window for someone else to cast it and nullify the damage of yours, but if it all lands in 1 tick, unless you both cast at the same time there is no problem, also not having to track the damage over time likely makes it easier to solve even for the scenario where 2 people do both cast at once

      @@custard131 that is definitely a way to hack around the group issue but it’s still only a 30% chance to proc, maybe they could switch the first and third stack around and make it guaranteed 100 stacks or something but fixing the core issue of bleeds with the current effect would probably be better than hacking around it like that xD

    i like option 1 best bc it is something that works / low input and does what it does no luck is envoled with it / i like option 3 but doesnt seem to live up to how it should maybe if they chaged what abilties are used with set 3 that would change our minds but im saying option 1 is best :)

    It's a shame about option 3. I got excited at the concept but bleeds are definitely not in a good place and are in desperate need of some attention. I hope this beta really highlights that issue and makes it a priority for the dev team. Great video my dude.

    I'm personally not a huge fan of RNG in rotations, if the 3rd effect was every X stacks your next Bleed will have it's cooldown reset, it would be more appealing. I'd prefer to be rewarded for being consistent rather than lucky

    I’ve played on and off for years and been into PvM for a while. I’d say the first option (of those three) sounds the best, something that’s guaranteed as opposed to the second option which is only a chance. And on top of what you said for the third set being a bad choice, I also think bleed or dot builds for rs3 are just bad. There aren’t enough fights in the game that last long enough to stack up that high of a count of anything, whether it’s abilities, or bik arrow stacks. They have their niches where they excel in, but a majority of the fights just aren’t long enough. What I think they should do for the second set is keep the stacks at 2, and change the second effect to be a 25% chance to reset ALL offensive abilities. That way it’s different than the first set and still viable/useful. As for the third set, for them to ever be viable as a dot/bleed set they need to rework the way bleeds work in group pvm, inside ultimates, change the way meta works to actually give people more of an incentive to use it, or change the way the bleeds/dots work inside sunshine as well as with invention perks. All in all though, I love the combat beta system. Jagex just needs to listen to their community and take feedback to make better content updates

    TL;DR preference, 1>3>2
    I agree almost entirely.
    1. Not much to say, kind of boring but the consistency is nice.
    2. On paper it sounds nice having a chance to do b2b2b2b... wild magics, but in my experience with these types of effects you just end up having a long time without any procs then (often when you don't need them) it will proc the reset b2b. So im really not a fan of this one, i understand wanting the "hero moment" but i personally much prefer the first version over this one.
    3. I really don't want magic to be bleed focused at the high end, we already have melee that lent into bleeds, and we also have ranged with the poison + bik arrows. We don't need yet another bleed build, especially as you say, bleeds need to be reworked anyway. So until then i wouldn't really want to see them lean more into bleed focused builds until that rework happens.
    I will say i don't mind the concept behind this effect though (building stacks during combat to augment your abilities). One problem i can see with it though is there aren't many bosses currently that last long enough to get much benefit out of a stacking effect like this (i haven't tested them myself yet, just going off this video so far). So while i like the idea, im not sure how much value it would bring to most bosses. I'd also be curious if the stacks only drop when you leave combat, if so they would probably be quite good for slayer.
    Overall im not a huge fan of any of these effects, but i like the concept of the 3rd, they just need to change it from bleed focused.
    The 1st one is my current preference, simple but effective.
    2nd one is comfortably my least favorite, for many reasons i really hope this one ( or something very similar to it ) isn't what then end up choosing.

    All these combat stacks need a dedicated display that we can reliably look at.
    The current cluttered buffs display jumps around and is too limited.
    TLDR If they want to add these stacks, we need a reliable way to monitor it.

    Betas are a great thing for the game. As far as effects... As a standalone they aren't as good as they could be. Definitely should look at more design changes or less effects

      ability tracker isn't in Alt1, but a separate third-party (open source). the necrosis stacks etc. is something you can add to alt1 called necromancyjobgauge.

    No plans yet for the fractured staff being more than just a spec swap? :c Otherwise stuff looks cool for a first pass, i like it. What if they just gave sunshine more uptime(since magic is really bad outside of it) and just, cut fractured staves cooldown in half? Would magic be overpowered then? I still doubt it'd even come close to what range can do, I don't really know what Magic needs but it's always been my favorite style, even going all the way back to when EoC first released. Just wanna see some cool/good stuff for it.

    Not that big fan how they just introduce new tier gears. I mean i rather have that the boss drop the gear, have it drop something that can be used on EG Seismic to upgrade them to t95. Keeping the gear progression more streamlined. Ppl tend to skip a lot of bosses, because it's better to get okay gear and then just farm some of the end game bosses.

    So this is why people are/still are buying up FSOAs the t95 staff will be on par with the t95 dw becuz both can now use gconc, instead of 2h being stuck with crap sonic wave. Makes sense, i saw the price im like do i sell its at 2.2 at 2.4 at 2.3 back at 2.6 at 2.9 lmao got ppl merching it and people actuallying trying to buy to play with the elder god weapon. I like 2hs didnt just get powercrept and jag thought to basically help both.

    Beta: A+ and i hope they continue this trend. Id almost like them to dedicate a world to it and just have them try shit. Maybe even have them take half finished gamejam projects and out them there so the players can feel them. Even skilling changes and all that.
    1 i felt was better than 2 as a concept. 3 i loved as a concept, and it didn't feel that bad, but it felt out of place.
    They definitely need indicatoion that cds are reset if they pursue this type of thing

    Option 3 sounds good.. but wouldn't work.. cause you can't use magma temp with dual weilds.
    And dropping magma temp/sunshine in beginning would be 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♀️

    Option 1 is definitely simple but better than Option 3. Option 2 is a hard pass. I do not want to have to pay attention to if yet another thing happened or didn't while trying to remember what comes next during a boss fight.

    Corruption set was my pick however I dislike the fact that all three use stacks. It is slightly boring considering stacks are already so prevalent in meta combat at the moment with all the other combat styles. The fact that charging isn't staying isn't entirely relevant when you lose all stacks when you switch to a staff (I tested it, all three lose stacks when you switch) which might still mean fsoa eof could be meta which would be very annoying.

    The "charge" aspect of gear is such an awful path and frankly I do not trust them to not employ it. The core identity of RS over other MMOs has been the lack of a class system. You were supposed to be able to swap gear and styles at all times, and they keep pushing to remove this. Whether it's been a push to remove hybridding, changing how styles abilities work with other styles, changing the effectiveness of gear, it all removes what differentiates RS from class set MMOs. Necromancy's power creep did this exactly, there was no longer any point in being creative in pvm, you just take the necromancy class and outpace everything with half the effort. Admittedly other styles have caught up a bit now but the damage has been done and their commitment to continue down a path of removal of complexity is apparent. Rather than take the time to build a tool to teach players complexity they choose to remove it under the label of accessibility.
    This lack of demonstrated understanding of how pvm works at a high level is once again demonstrated by the third proposal, for the reasons given: "ooh bleeds that force you to play walk the boss simulator and give no utility, what fun". They can say they understand all they want but the actions show that what they understand is a push for afk revolution, not one for meaningful tradeoffs and creativity.

    they all seem not great, im not a fan of everything now ahving/relying on stacks. gotta pay attention to ur stacks and then u can do better dps. then the stacks only effect one ability so tis basically jsut do wild magic basic wild magic. when theres other abilities to do. i wish the days of just a nice and simple spec where it just does more dmg at a cost of x adren and or it powers up other abilities without stacks and such. the beta is a great idea though in general for things like this. sadly high end combat is so chaotic and sweaty.

    Wild magic is dogshit they need to hit harder in general.. you can’t compete with range spamming ultra dark bow and sgb with no cool down and two crit buffs, also the synergy that range equipment has with each other is insane

    3rd option is trash, by far the worst in terms of damage, there's no sense in a dot reset when dots don't stack, i hope they remove the charge from the dual wield, it offers zero synergy with fsoa, and just makes the fsoa an eof weapon, the 1'st and 2'nd option feel great, i rather enjoy the 2'nd since there's a little rng to work around.
