The Story of the Bear Flag Revolt

This is the Story of the Bear Flag Revolt as told by William B. Ide himself. In 1846, the Mexican government was growing more uncomfortable with the increasing immigrants coming into California. Ide was a leader of a group of rebels that fought against the Mexican government in Sonoma to establish California as an independent republic. This brief but daring overthrow was a flash point for the war to obtain California for Untied States. Ide presided over the California Republic during this rapidly transitioning time.
