USB Mini-B has been making a comeback recently, despite everyone saying it has been deprecated. USB-C is complicated and expensive for manufacturers to implement, so, anything that doesn't require USB-C's speed or functionality is still built with Micro-B. Back in 2007, Micro-B was chosen by the industry as the universal charging connector, replacing the plethora of connectors that existed back then. That is why you still see them in most devices for charging, rather than USB-C which more expensive from a manufacturer's point of view. Unfortunately, despite its ubiquity, Micro-B is flimsy and too many ports keep breaking, even with moderate use. That's why many manufacturers are now choosing the more robust Mini-B connectors and ports with devices that don't require high data rates. I keep seeing more and more new devices with Mini-B ports, everything from external drive enclosures (non-SSD) to smart monitors to external tuners.
i want to nominate you the teacher of the year and the best professor awards
Me too!
He is the best teacher.
"it doesn't mean its Adolf Hitlers USB.." haha gold!
cool. I didn't know that about the Red,Yellow, Orange ports being charge-capable even when the device is off. That is actually really useful.
