Dutch History: The Tiel Tourist Office Throws a Party! (1927)

EN - Party week, market, fair and sports demonstrations organized by the Tiel Tourist Office. Tiel is a city (Hanzestad) and municipality in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands: the place dates back to the period 850-1100. According to the Benedictine chronicler Alpertus of Metz, Tiel was plundered by Vikings, but archaeological findings for the plundering are lacking. In the second half of the nineteenth century, Tiel grew into a small industrial city. The metal industry, galvanizing companies and fruit processing in particular developed. The city's mascot is Flipje, the fruit owner (the cartoon character of the former local jam factory De Betuwe). Source: Wikipedia

Het is een van de oudste steden van Nederland: de plaats stamt uit de periode 850-1100.
