Really love seeing all the creative things fans are making for HeroQuest, especially with AxianQuest having so many cards to augment and facilitate solo play. As someone who adores HeroQuest but doesn't always have a group of players wanting to play it with me, it's nice to still have ways to play with everything by myself.
other alternatives to the temporary hero deck are: - d4 - sleeved hero cards - d6 [1-4 heroes, 5 heroes choice, 6 zargon's/zorgan's choice] - deck of cards, give an ace to each hero, anytime you draw a card match the suit to the hero, you can then put them back, or leave them out to change keep or change odds for the next event. or put back either face cards or numbered cards. this method is easy to employ and if the heroes collect the cards you can give temporary bonuses. run [2-10] +2 move, royal family [j-k] restore 1 BP or 1 MP, collect every card for a bonus potion. default potion of healing [+1D6].
The goblin thief card reminds me of the similar looking guys from Golden Axe lol. These look really cool and I would love to use them for replaying old quests. I think AH is bringing the game closer in line to what these cards do. Hopefully, they are taking notes! My one gripe is that stacking artifacts would make heroes insanely strong. It seems like every armor bit adds BP! Still, these offer very cool ideas
The little guy from Golden Axe was one inspiration, yes, along with the Diablo III treasure goblin! Stacking effects is hardly possible, because you can't benefit from two artifacts with the same affix. The most you can do if you want to pump up your BP is one item "of the Exalted" and one "of the Colossus": the two, together, will give you +2 BP and +1 MP (or +2 MP if you also have one item "of the Spirits"). But how will you get all those items? The Arcane Emporium only offers 1d6 randomly drawn items after each quest, so it'll definitely take a lot of time before you even get to see them. You will also need 1000 coins to buy each, and you must hope other players don't want to buy them too. AND THEN the Astral Hunter will come and devour them all :D If four heroes have 2 items each, you have more than 60% chance to summon the hunter at each quest. Rather than worry about stacking effects and increased power, I would worry that the heroes need a back-up non artifact weapon for when the hunter appears and leaves them without their toys! In all truth, a group of 4 heroes should try to have 4 or 5 artifacts maximum total, in order to keep the chance for the hunter as low as possible. If/when they find more artifacts, the best approach would be to keep the best ones and get rid of the others. Power-hungry heroes WILL, sooner or later, get punished and loose (almost) everything. - Giuseppe // Axian
They're neat cards, but I definitely would keep them limited (removing the need for the astral hunter) and not purchasable. I'd like artifacts to be kept as rare items, and not something merchants are just walking around with selling to anyone. If magical items and artifacts are easily accessible, it creates a story loophole imo in why the world is having difficulty with "Zorgan's" forces. The sets seems like a good cards for those who want to add power for hero's, but feels a bit too diablo like for my taste with suffixes, treasure goblins, and choose your ability path. Not for me, but I'm sure many tables will have fun with it.
i would use both i even have a cute miniature of a goblin girl with a 2 handed sword(gonna rule it as a broadsword) and a big bagpack i bought and painted on a whim to use as the mini for the gobbo hero
Hi! I was coming back to watch both of your AxianQuest overviews but realized that your other one was made private. I remember enjoying the commentary you had, and I'm just wondering what the reason for the change was? Hope that it's something that you're okay with sharing, and thanks for the great content you keep making :)
I believe they're both on AmalgamAsh, and need to be moved here to better serve the algorithm. They'll be here in their new home before too long (actually just forgot so thank you for reminding me!)
@@AshQuest I'd thought that too, but when I checked the actual AxianQuest Website that other video showed up with the "This video is private" display, so I assumed that was why I couldn't find it on AmalgamAsh either. Thanks for the info though!
You can continue using these with expansions beyond the base game, or even homebrew quests. The cards are nice to have even when using with other homebrew assets, in my opinion :)
You could just double the money found in dungeons, or offer a quest clear bonus of 100+ gp...but be ready to stop giving such bonuses in case it makes the game too easy when they buy equipment!
@@AshQuest more treasure cards with more coins and more wandering monsters, can make monsters drop money too, 10 coins the easy one 15 25 50 and 100 to the others

Another fun and informative review. Not usually a fan of review vids but these always have some useful nuggets.
