The appeal of narrowboats, for me, is that people are able to take a leap outside the box and live a lifestyle that makes them happy. Making big changes is a real leap and is just as appealing to me wherever you land. It will be great to follow you through the process of figuring out what works and what doesn’t do much. Good luck!
Hi Cherry. It seems most people are incredibly supportive of my decision to return to land, though I have upset one or two. For a variety of reasons, it's just what I needed to do right now. But I take with me not only an incredible 6 years on the cut, but the youtuber experience too. I'm still not 100% sure how my future videos will pan out... as usual, I'll see what happens!
Loved the relaxed laid back cruising videos you put out there Johnny. The fact you've sold your boat is a positive for you and a new adventure can begin, looking forward to your new videos on different subjects, hopefully in the same laid back format. Enjoy your time on land .
I'm pleased for you have sold the boat so quickly, but sad because I will miss your videos. Good luck in what you decide todo in the future, thanks for the pleasure that you have given us.
Hi Geoff, thank you. It was good that I found the right people - the benefit of selling privately (that and not having to pay a huge commission!). I was a bit surprised by the speed of events though.
Hi Jeffrey. In the end I realised how important it was to sell to the right person. I think the new owners will get a lot out of the boat and probably do a few upgrades too. At least they wont have to worry about it sinking or other!
So sorry you’ve had to sell your narrowboat. I know you have your reasons and it’s what works for you, so I wish you all the best. I hope we see you back on the canals one day. We are just starting out so I can’t imagine having to sell our boat and go back on land. Good luck to you ❤️
Glad your settled back in your house. Hopefully we can all still follow along with all your walks and new adventures as you upload them X Good luck with getting your house and garden straight X
I will miss your entertaining and informative vlogs but I think I can say that most of your subscribers are hoping to share in the next chapter of your life. Why is is that boats tug at our heart strings? I’m so happy for the new owners as they must feel very honoured to have been chosen to live in your (not now!) lovely boat. Good luck, Johnny, and I expect to see the grass standing to attention, eventually, like a bowling green!
Hi Susan. I really hope the new owners are getting on ok - it's a bigger step than people realise, transitioning to a life on the water. Slowly I'm getting my house in order.
Hi Carole. It was a very peculiar evening, sitting on the boat with all my stuff gone. I did film a bit so If there is anything usable I'll put it up at some point. I must say, I did envy the new owners, being at the "start" of it all.
Glad the sale went through for you Johnny. Who knows what the future will bring. But as you said before, you are where you need to be for the moment. I am sure the garden will look lovely and you will get settled in. Will look forward to any videos you post. Take care. 🤗😊
That's it exactly, for whatever variety of reasons I just needed to go back to land. Was a bit of a shock when the boat sold though, especially so quickly!
Johnny, I love your videos. I have said it quite a few times. Quite honestly, if you video yourself opening a packet of crisps, I'd watch it. You are just awesome to watch. Enjoy your garden and I look forward very much to whatever you put out. Although, the opening of a packet crisps would be amazing :-D
Hi Steve, sorry about that! I have a few things I still want to cover on the PN channel, and plenty stuff coming up on the new channel soon to be announced.
Well, I'll keep the notification bell turned on because I look forward to next year when you get your landlocked life all sorted out & start designing your next boat. You have a real knack for that & it would be a shame to let that go to waste. It was a minor miracle you managed to squeeze in a separate office & a bathtub on the last one so it's no surprise to me that it sold so fast, and now that you have one masterpiece under your belt, you probably have plenty more ideas how to make the next one(s) even better. But in the meantime there'll no doubt be plenty of opportunities to film epic London city hikes to fetch Christmas turkeys & whatnot during raging natural disasters, not to mention all the house reno DIY vids you could film. Onward & upward, Cap'n!
Ah, Johnny, I'm going to miss you on the cut but I'm sure all your future endeavors will be just as successful. I can't wait to see how your garden progresses. Be well!
Brilliant Johny, I know I'll make the transition with ease. You've got a lot on your platter, chop all those tree's down so you get good solar, put a tow path down each side of the section. No, it's great, you can pace yourself. Take your time and plan ahead. All you've really got to do is compile a thrilling episode for us, joking. I've got the old Hole in the bucket dear Liza thing going on when it comes to modernising and repairs, it all seems to be one big expensive circle with no obvious start point. Thanks, and take care.
Hi Phillip, yes it can certainly be overwhelming - when there is a lot to do. I try and break things down into manageable chunks, but honestly, it's knowing where to start...
life's guidance of twists & turns who knows where it may lead but i'm sure it's going to be fascinating Johny - so pleased you found your wonderful boat a good home - the next chapter begins - go well
Sad to see the old boat gone.. watched most of your episodes ... But you have to do what's right for you, 💯🤙🤟,Xmas clips a favourite.... Heading to the shops with that old trolley... Classics .... A Legend 🏆🏆💯 fella ...👊👊
It is always good to hear from you, Johnny. I look forward to going along on your future adventures, whatever they may be. I really want to know if you are happy. Leigh, Texas
@@ProjectNarrowboat change of any kind is stressful, so just remember to be kind to yourself and to breathe. Lots of us out here are sending our emotional support to you and even admiring you for making a change. Not everyone has that courage. Leigh
Hello from sunny Barbados....I really enjoyed your vlogs and sure will miss them, I find you to be entertaining in a personal way (if that makes sense) so please continue your vlogs....show us what you are doing around your home and how you are going about it....good wishes for the future .
I'll miss you, Johnny! Miss your greeting, and you're wry, quiet style 😔 Good luck with whatever adventure comes next. A saying I heard lately on another vlog applies-"Rule your own world!"
Hi Chris. Plenty to do in the garden and around the place. I'll let the dust settle and see what else I can come up with though still a few cruises to edit up :)
I’m still gutted you’ve left the NB life JL and had hoped that maybe you’d just moor Dera Rosa up for a while while you were back doing your house up. I’m sure you’ll have done loads of jobs already both inside and out. I’m glad you were happy to find decent people to buy your NB and whatever price they paid they have got themselves a lovely well looked after and cared for boat. As I’ve said before, take good care of yourself and stay safe. Ignore the guy who wrote the negative comment - you’ve still got your supporters 👍👏
Thank you for that Sheenagh, it's amazing how positive and supportive everyone has been. It was really important to find the right people for the boat, more than just the money. Hopefully they will get on well.
I shall miss your canal travels JL, but you have to do what's right for you, I look forward to seeing what sorts of videos you make next, whatever you do, I wish you all the best, and will be watching as always, take good care of yourself 🚢🚢🚢
I can hardly wait to see where you go next. Hopefully you can move me along to your new channel instead of changing it to the point where I have to find you again.
Hi John. Yes exactly. If I do anymore boaty stuff, it'll be on the existing channel, if I do something else I'll make another channel - that way people wont have to unsubscribe for getting stuff they are not interested in. But I'll be sure to put a plug for any new channel on the current Project Narrowboat one.
Would have been surprised if you'd not sold your narrowboat quickly. Your work is meticulous. Too bad your laptop is having hissy fits. No photos of patio work and result, I can't believe I'm the only one who'd enjoy watching home and garden renos.
Its sad that you soon sold your boat and stop boating, in my mind i suspect that you doesnt come back to narrowboats. I will not follow in another interest of blog but I will send hugs.
Hi Gunnar. It's interesting that you say that. I really couldn't say one way or another right now, but it is something that I know and like so it would be "easy" for me to get back into it. I'm also interested in moving to France. Who knows...
Hi Dan - I know! The one good thing about land would be the ease of getting utilities (especially in the winter) but with the incredible price hikes I'll certainly be missing that lovely solar.
Another one bites the dust, unsubscribed. Yet another poor coper who is not cut out for this lifestyle but; hopes to hang on to viewers, good luck with that.
Why do some people always feel the need to just be negative and nasty? His job is not to live up to your "exacting" standards, and keep you entertained. Blocked!
Hi Dan. It's your opinion and you are perfectly well entitled to it. I did live aboard for six years, but a variety of things made me return ashore. You'll miss the Wendover Arm video!
If you don’t like JLs videos then scroll on by - he has followers who do like his videos whatever they are about and no one is forcing you to stay subscribed- there’s no need to make negative comments
You might not miss the cut yet, but the cut misses you mate. Take care and let’s catch up soon
