Arcadia Quest was the first Kickstarter I backed because it looked cool and the gameplay convinced me that it could be a lot of fun. This is the game that got me into the hobby of playing board games. This will always be a special game for me.
I've watched Tom rave about this game for years and I finally bought it a couple of weeks ago. And am I glad I did. Some of my friends still approach it as a serious dungeon crawl though, planning their moves very carefully. In the very first game one of us had a character who is ignored by monsters if he doesn't attack them. So he just ran past a few of those and then thought "Well I should probably start killing some of them". Attacked the nearest monster, missed pretty badly, the monster didn't, he died, everyone laughed. So yeah, very entertaining game and a real story maker :).
Ticket To Ride was my gateway game a couple of years ago, proving that board games can be fun. Up to that point I had only played games like Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit which I absolutely hated. Arcadia Quest was my gateway to both ameritrash and miniature games. I'm obsessed with it! And everyone I've played it with have loved it too. I bought the original just 3 months ago and now I got Inferno, Beyond the grave and Poison dragon on my shelf aswell. Now I'm just anxiously waiting for the Pets expansion to hit retail in Europe. I've tried other CMON games like Zombicide but found them incredibly boring. The quests in AQ make all the difference. My gaming group always negotiates short living alliances in order to get to those quests fulfilled and ends up stabbing each other in the back due to PvP quests. So much fun!
HELP!!! Can someone help with a issue on the rules. I'm not to sure about. When a hero kills another hero for the first time. Do they get 2 coins? One for doing it first. And one for killing a hero. Or is it just the one coin for doing it first. Then every other clan kills that same colour will only collect a coin at the end of the game?
Outside of being a collector, there are so many heroes for Arcadia Quest at retail that the exclusives are entirely unnecessary. But, it's pretty easy to just jump on their next Arcadia KS if you want to fill out the hero ranks. I purchased the base game at retail and enjoyed it. Later I backed Inferno and Masmorra, and I feel like I have an overabundance of heroes now. There's probably more heroes than I'll ever use. The KS provides good value to your dollar in regards to plastic, but the retail games and expansions give more than enough variety.
yeah I missed the original KS but got all the Inferno KS stuff but before Inferno I went retail to get all the original base game + expansions / extras and i have way more than I need now.
Staunch! It is 6 missions long, Tom seems to keep saying this. He said the same thing when he reviewed Inferno. It does make me wonder how much he actually plays when he doesn't know how long a campaign is?
He speaks "5 missions" just before he starts to talk about equipment, so I think he got confused about the 5 Levels of equipment (plus Starters) and mixed it up.
Why I hate Arcadia Quest: Kickstarter Exclusives. At this point, If I dont catch it on KS, I dont think Ill buy another CMON game on the open market. (Unless they Stonemayer things and start releasing upgrade packs).
I stop plaing the campaign when the heros becames ridiculously strong. When a hero can throw 18 dices to defend himself... it's so difficult to win against him. It feels so unbalanced. This is why I don't like Arcadia anymore! 😐

This game is fantastic. I acknowledge that it's not for everyone, but it hits so many notes that I love. I only wish more people were in to it!
Two aspects really attract me to this game, firstly the models to paint and the bright and cheery game itself.
"Why i love" should be a series that comes out in February every year 🤣
watching this in Feb I have to agree!
Great stuff Derrick! Had me cracking up. The to do list and the dumb and smart monsters was hilarious.

I’m kicking myself for not getting it on kickstarter.

Is it just me or is Arcadia Quest supposed to be 6 missions long instead of 5?

+1 for the smart interesting monster with glasses :D
Should i pick Arcadia Quest or Arcadia Quest: Inferno?
I don't have any yet but I'm waiting for Starcadia quest on kickstarter
haha i love all those memes and stuff in the video.
If a gamer says you shouldn't be swayed by plastic, cut ties.
You don't need that kind of negativity in your life. ;)
The unpainted models is the main drawcard for me, I don't want prepainted models.
Chibi-style is the best style. ;P

I have to say, everything you described there (objectively) pretty much convinces me that I won't like that game.
