  • The difference between MUST and HAVE TO in English with example sentences.
We start by looking at the difference in meaning between:
    - I must write a letter to John ... and ...
    - I have to write a letter to John.
We look at obligation and whether it is personal or external.
We learn which to use when creating questions.
We look at MUST in the difference tenses including the past tense and the future tense.
As a bonus, we compare HAVE TO vs. HAVE GOT TO, including which to use with adverbs of frequency.

    Please explain this:
In this video, it says use "Have to" when others make the decisions. But in another video of yours about Uses of Must, it says use "Must" for laws, rules, and obligations:
E.g: She must pass the English exam. She can't graduate without it.
Why is "Must" used in the sentence while others (the university officials) make the decision?

there is somthing about I'm not very sure.
    About the second sentence,
"The teacher said: You must complete the essay by Friday"
here "must" is used as an imposition, the students has not other option?
What I mean is that if they don't want to do it, they can, of course they will have a bad punctuation.
If a police say you to you to do something, he is going to tell You "you have to" because he is not giving you other option, it doesn't depend of you if you want or not to do it.
    is this right?
