Thank you for all the time you put into these video and just slow enough so I can catch on and actually go over again and again if I need to. Keep the lessons coming I'm trying to get the hang of using muscles and the feel of tatting.
I love your videos!! New tatter and feel like I have perfected it now...well far from perfection..lol. Thank you for all the hard work you put into these videos and the web info!!
Hi Mistie. Thank you so much for your comments. I am so happy to help people learn this beautiful art. The links are always listed in the description box for any information you would want to keep. If no link to the information it is because the tutorial is not ready yet or the links we have are dead links and we are working to find a new link for you. We try to take all the guess work out of tatting. But sometimes even we have a bit of a problem. I hope to see you in the classes sometime. Until then Happy Tatting
Hello. I liked the clarity of the videos and your explanation. However I didn't know where to find the links to the additional sites you mentioned and the written terms
All links currently are in the description box below the video. Most of the links used in the videos can be found on the class site as well here. www.georgiaseitz.com/2017/2017index.html I hope that helps for future reference. Happy tatting
I have two questions about the sample 3 instructions. In version one, it says join to 5th picot of previous ring, but the diagram looks like the join is on the 6th picot? And in version two, I see the join stated as 2 - 2 + . . . , but if these instructions did not accompany a diagram, how would I know which picot on the first ring to join to? Thanks!
Hi Alyssa. Thank you so much for watching. To answer your question the actual diagrams and verbiage on this sheet is missing a picot. Thank you for letting me know. However the actual pattern would and should be correct that you would be working on. This however is not an actual pattern it is used strictly for educational purposes. So your real pattern would state which picot to join to if it does not have a diagram to follow along with as well. If it has both you are in luck because if the worded version is missing something you will be able to look at the diagram and see where to connect to. That is not to say that both could have a mistake and the photo finish piece is where you would look next to be sure you are connecting in the right place. A photo with a pattern is like finding a diamond. Because it can give you so much information. It can show you how big to make your picots and where to make your joins. So that is a bonus to all patterns. I hope this helps you. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact me. Happy Tatting
Hi Georgia . I ‘m a beginner of tatting . I make 3 times a small lace with instruction on you tube. Know I would like to start something on only a picture without description (only figures ) . Do you have a small video where is can see how to read than a pattern. I’m from belgium
if you are working from a picture, without description or numbers, you can try to guess stitch numbers. Or you can try to find the pattern using image search.
Hello I have a question for you I have this book that I got off of Amazon that I am trying to patting but the patting I am doing does not tell me that I have to reverse my work don't you normally have to reverse your work if you are doing to picot and chain The book is not very good on directions and maybe I am stopping to four ahead for parents right now for me just learning how to use the tatting shuttle. But normally wouldn't you reverse your work anyways I guess is my question my book is by Gun Blomqvist and Elwy person in the title of the book is called Tatting Patterns and Designs if you know this book better and I am trying to do is on page 86 and 87
you reverse your work after each chain and each ring unless the pattern states otherwise. Older patterns do not have that statement in the patterns because they assume everyone who is learning to tat and has no clue which is what knows what to do. Older pattern books are difficult even for seasoned tatters to work up. Georgia and a group of others are working to re-write the older pattern books out of copy write to today's terms. Just remember to always reverse your work unless it is stated not to. Many of the older patterns do reflect that. Hope that helps. Happy Tatting
Hi! Was wondering if there is an easy way to read a diagram pattern. I see some patterns and I have no idea where to start the pattern or where it ends. How can I break it down?
To help you with this the easy way is to start in the middle with a ring and work your way outwards on the pattern. Most diagram patterns will have a legend along with them that gives all the abbreviations. However some don't. In the video I show how to read a diagram pattern and I have on that long list of to do videos a more in depth look at diagram patterns. I hope this helps you. Happy Tatting
Hi Dan the term carry threads means the core thread is carried throughout the piece. Terms is a problem in tatting there are so many for the same thing. Just over time they get changed for various reasons.
Not necessarily. it depends on the designer. Usually they will have a notation stating what the abbreviation is for. If not then we assume it is a ring and reverse work is done after each element. Happy tatting
yes it has been changed. Just go to Georgia Seitz online tatting classes web page here www.georgiaseitz.com/ . Georgia will get you signed up. Happy Tatting

These links come up as "page not found". I really would like a copy of that 4 page list!
Yeah, me too! Did you find it?

I've seen "carry threads" in a pattern book. What are they referring too? Help!!! This is from Priscilla's Tatting book 2..
Thanks, Dan.
Hi Dan the term carry threads means the core thread is carried throughout the piece. Terms is a problem in tatting there are so many for the same thing. Just over time they get changed for various reasons.
Does upper case "R" always mean ring and lower case "r" by itself mean reverse?
Not necessarily. it depends on the designer. Usually they will have a notation stating what the abbreviation is for. If not then we assume it is a ring and reverse work is done after each element. Happy tatting
Enjoyed your video very much.
Thank you so much for watching and Happy tatting.
That comment actually came from Bonnye Sielken, not David lol
Ooops. My bad. I replied to David. Sorry Bonnye. I hope you enjoy the adventure awaiting you. Happy Tatting
The very 1st link in the list says "not found"
yes it has been changed. Just go to Georgia Seitz online tatting classes web page here www.georgiaseitz.com/ . Georgia will get you signed up. Happy Tatting
Some patterns do not have a center or rounds.
which pattern are you having troubles with. I could better help you if I knew what you were having problems with
The pattern actually looks pretty easy but is just very vacate on words
This is a very generic pattern used for instruction on how to read diagrams.
ไthank you
Thisntat website doesn’t work
She is no longer tatting and the site has been taken down.
