Byron Allen great job, but this is the steps that Civil Rights leaders should have asked for by asking for Economic Integration, Instead of Social Integration.

Great point. But that would have taken even longer to get black folks as close as they are to economic inclusion today. We see where the promise and delivery of 40 acres and mule left us.

Could he be saying the same thing because he's talking about the same topic? He's being asked the same or similar questions? Hence, the answer is going to be the same. No script really needed. Especially when speaking the truth.

If sales are high in black communities, why pay an additional expense to advertise in the same environment when you are advertising based on location?

The words self-serving and disingenuous come to mind each time I listen to a Byron Allen interview. It took a while but we got to two good questions at 1330 min and again at 1600 min. I am trying to reconcile the case why a company should be compelled to do business with a company based on who owns its - the group identity of the company ownership is irrelevant. If you want to specifically target the Black community with advertising I would suggest BET (owned by a “white” corporation) ahead Weather Network (owned by Byron Allen’s corporation). The response he gives to this question is beyond weak. So put aside the rhetoric, this should be straight forward. In 2019. McDonald’s spent $1.6 billion on television advertising in the U.S., with $5 million, or less than 1%, going toward Black-owned media, according to the lawsuit. Interesting but irrelevant given I assume advertising on BET wouldn’t qualify as a black owned business. Be that as it may, prior to 2018 what was McDonald’s advertising budget on the Weather Network package of channels? Prior to 2018 Weather Network was a "non-Black" business? Did McDonald’s cut the spending once Byron Allen bought the business? This man' seems to be fairly successful despite all the barriers in his path and his frivolous lawsuits. Really not sure how he can succeed in a racist world, maybe his advertising revenue would increase if his spouse became the face of the company (given she is white) but I guess that would undermine his legal dispute. This point is intend to highlight the hypocrisy of his argument. It would be irrelevant who is running his media empire (TV channels etc). If the channels attract the demographic a company wants to sell to, a company like McDonalds is going to advertise with you. The history lesson on Madison Grant and Hitler is interesting. It is highly emotive but seems highly irrelevant to the issue. This lawsuit deserves a defamation counter suit. Luckily I think evidence still matters in the Supreme Court - hence he was shot down in that forum.

Mr Allen is setting precedent, pressing for clear interpretation of the laws that were set over a century ago, to “level the playing field” for human beings that were and in many instances today, considered to be property. Mr Allen is the only descendant of American slaves that has position and capital power to fight. He’s proving that black American descendants of slaves aren’t wealthy because black American descendants of slaves have been legally excluded from the opportunity to gain and hold wealth. You sue, you win, you reap the benefits. This is America, that’s how it works.
Your statement, Mr Russell, proves so much. People use the word reconcile wrong. You’re not “trying to reconcile,” you’re trying to understand why a company has to justify refusal to do business with black owned companies. Corporations coming to the table with fair offers are reconciling Mr Russell. God is shedding grace on America, crowning America’s good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea through Mr Byron Allen and by the laws of our great land of opportunity. He is American and he will finally be treated like one and it will set precedent for the rest of us. Mr Allen, a true American hero.

@@SagiFireSirena Thanks for the reply. Please check out Wes Hall ( ua-cam.com/video/gdWqnEMx92I/v-deo.html ). I had to go back and watch the video again and review my comments after I read your reply. I honestly don't put things in the context of slavery...it really goes nowhere but it is a bit of an emotive smoke screen that only serves to keep people locked into a cycle of poverty. Life is a struggle and everyday we face challenges. The challenges are not the fault of someonelse or a system. These are life's challenges and if you look at it differently its really easy to simply give up. Mr Allen didnt become a business success with this oppression mindset; I remember watching him on "Real People" many years ago and its a testament to his business acumen to be where he is today. Much like Robert F. Smith, he isn't where he is by chance or by charity. Like Tyler Perry he worked hard and is seeing the benefits. In Canada, we see this a lot in first generation immigrants - they understand their roots, which can sometimes be truly oppressive, but they come to a new country and realize opportunity and they seize it. Wes Hall's "rages to riches" inspiring documentary is a great example - he chose the more difficult path than that of his brother, Canadian billionaire Michael Lee-Chi is another first generation Canadian arriving on a plane and building a significant business empire. There is no fixation on systemic oppression or barriers. Rather, it is hard work, innovation and intelligence that creates opportunity. In Byron Allen's case the facts will prove the merits. Prior to 2018 what was McDonald’s advertising budget on the Weather Network's package of channels? Prior to 2018 Weather Network was a "non-Black" business? Did McDonald’s cut the spending once Byron Allen bought the business? Seems like something that could be sorted out rather quickly

@@markrussell3428 hard work, innovation and intelligence does create opportunity, but Americans who are descendants of slaves still can’t rise up the same way any other person in our country can due to unfair policies. A black/brown person from another country can come here and succeed faster than black/brown Americans that are descendants of slaves. Great books I suggest you read or even watch a lecture about are, “Black Wealth/ White Wealth: Hidden Costs of Being Black” by Tom Shapiro. “The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America” by Richard Rothstein. There are other studies about how the Federal Government has placed policy to cripple American descendants of slaves and strengthen everyone else. Tyler Perry and few others like him are phenomena that rarely happen. I’m speaking about average working class families.
As far as the whole McDonald’s lawsuit goes,
Mr Allen owns Weather Group but he also owns Entertainment Studios. He owns 12 high definition television networks that are carried by programming distributors like Comcast, AT&T uerse, Dish Network, Direct TV and many others. McDonald’s spent almost $2 Billion on advertising but only $5 Million on African American owned media but black people made up approximately 40% of of American sales revenue. That’s billions from black American McDonald’s consumers. After that black man acquired The Weather Channel, mc Donald’s refused to advertise with Mr Allen for both Entertainment Studios and Weather Group. (That made me grimace my face, tilt my head and say hummmm, in a questionable way.)

I think McDonald's has the right to spend their advertising money where they want to. Byron Allen is just a professional money grabber that sues anything and anyone while screaming racism. I won't watch the weather channel anymore because he owns it.

Bryon Allen really never advocated for the black community unless issues pertained to him. Yet, his battles won, may help the black community. I applaud his accomplishments but I am not a fan.

Everyone is entitled to who they back and or support. Please tell us what black men that you are a fan of. I think that would benefit the black community far more than demonizing, knocking, or pointing out the faults of a black man such as Byron Allen.
