Katatonia at its peak!!! My goodness i grew up listening to melodies like this as a teen. When music still retained its value and when metal music used to orchestrate an entire life for each of us
i was in school that times.. mid 90s.. and i had ana audiocasette with katatonia and gorefest on back side.. very strong feelengs now listeting it.. thank you everythyng..
I feel under the weather and I was craving for more death metal songs to listen.. I can't complain about the drum sound like others. It is the flaws that make this album so memorable. Perfection is not beauty to my senses; it's boring, like a perfectly symmetrical face with no identity. Imperfection is authentic beauty.

Could anyone care to recommend albums with tracks similar sounding (bearing an utterly melancholic mood) to the ones on this album? Popular albums suggestions in the same vein probably won't help 'cause it's very likely that I had listened to them already -- Opeth's Morningrise and October Tide's debut album were sonically the closest i had listened to this date. I'm so madly in love with this record but unfortunately can't find enough time out of my daily schedule to look around for similar albums or artists. Thank you so much in advance!!!!🙂
Rapture from Sweden are probably the closest to the Katatonia sound. Gallows is a great track if you like the Brave Murder Day era and I Am Complete if you prefer the Last Fair Deal Gone Down style. Opeth's Blackwater Park is also a masterpiece. Atoma's Skylight album and Slumber's Fallout albums are also remarkable. Lacrimas Profundere - Helplessness from the album Memorandum is probably the most melancholic. Nobody touches Katatonia but these act come close. Also, if you're into Middle Eastern flavours, Orphaned Land - Mabool album is incredible, not as melancholic but very huge in scale and biblical in themes. Hope these songs can fill your week!
The Mantle by Agalloch 🤔 Windowpane by Opeth. The Hunter by Mastadon. New Moon by Swallow the Sun. Mourning Sun by Fields of the Nephilim. Holographic Universe by Scar Symmetry. One For Sorrow by Insomnium.
I'm also a huge fan of this album and have had a hard time finding anything close to it because it's a combination of different genres. You have the Death Metal growls, the Rock/Grunge moody sound, melodic solos, and the rather strange Shoe Gaze/dream pop type of influence. For me nothing is like this album, but I found a similar moods in Dark Wave, for example Drab Majesty, Lebanon Hanover, and in Rock bands like Seether, Staind and even some Nirvana. Also check out early Kent, they were a huge influence for Katatonia during this time: ua-cam.com/video/pZ7lGhV1hQo/v-deo.html

Already Katatonia is over. Brutal vocals are gone and gone ... The doom, gotic and black metal bands of those times have either softened or adapted to a market by changing the vocals. Example: anathema, tiamat ...
Opeth growls with Katatonia melodic riffs is so nice
So agree
One of the best metal albums ever made
Вообще 10000000% эта классика родила треша тысячи!!!
What a vocal performance, goddamn.
My favourite Katatonia song by a far reaching distance.

I would tell the world
I'm catching flies by now
Speaking to someone
Breaking the windows
This house is dead
The sound of falling
When the pictures are moving
Between the memories
The sound of falling
When the pictures are moving
Dead in time
Brave, try the meaning of loss
I know your smile is deadly at this point
Wherever you are I am not

All the moments

I would tell the world
I guess I should know
The limits of the world
There are moments I find myself
Not breathing at all

Katatonia's been doing Rock for a long ass time now, everyone in the Metal scene already knows that.
Wolves evolve
And Opeth. Unlistenable any more, IMO
Ever played in a band? It gets boring as fuck playing the same thing over and over.
Cry about it, I'm sure that'll fix things
Better than any Opeth album.

I'm sorry that you were born half a man. What's it like?
Guitar work in this song is quiet monotonous ngl, i prefer opeth for such works, katatonia is good to, these two bands are my go-to bands
honestly they are both good and also different subgenres of metal
Why tf would you even compare them?
This sucks. Theres a million bands like this.
