Wow..i never think that srilanka have this much of beauty., beautiful hill stations and beautiful train journey with green nature ,but i missed waterfalls, but there is beautiful beachs and wonderful food and cleen green citys. Finally i love srilanka ❤ frm india.

I lived there like a Local, sometimes Months, but mostly 1 or 2 times a year for ~3-6 weeks! I need it so urgent now, because of private Problems I could not go since some years, and I MISS SRI LANKA SO MUCH, it's necessary to come back for me so soon as possible , I have to "fill my Mind & Soul -Batteries" with Energy! Yes specially one of them was stretching out of the door extremely. If she accidentally falls, she would be dead or crippled for life.

Wonderful experience. So happy that you guys enjoyed this journey. I am a srilankan living in Australia and big rail fan and last time I took this journey was in 1995 when this scenic route was not so popular.
Few important points.
There are 4 trains from Colombo to Badulla operating in this scenic route. The one you took is known as Podi manike which starts its journey from Colombo at 5:55 am. The next train to start from Colombo is Denuwara manike at 6:35am which is an intercity train with fewer stops. Next train to Badulla is Udarata manike departing Colombo at 8:30 am. Last daytime train to Badulla leaves Colombo at 9:45 am.
All these 4 trains consists of 1st, 2nd and 3rd class compartments. First 3 trains are newer push pull type power sets where as the last one is a locomotive driven one.
Fastest and most convenient way to reach Badulla is using Denuwara manike intercity express where prices of similar class tickets are slightly higher. It doesn’t go via Kandy as Podi manike or udarata manike and stops at the 3rd platform in peradeniya junction. It’s away from the main station so you need to be aware of that.
The last train no 1008 has an observation saloon car at the end of the train which is famous for its Panoramic views.

Spectacular!!! I didn't know Sri Lanaka is this beautiful! I used to travel by train in Ethiopia just like these vloggers do- sitting at the door. Specially in the green fields of Nazareth to Addis, it had been awesome. The new Electric train is shut though. You can't get the windows or the doors open when travelling. But nice technology.

This is one of the most educated comments I've seen. I'm not sure why they allow leaning and hanging outside the train. In fact, doors should be closed when the train is in motion. Nobody knows what are on the sides of the track. There could be trees, sign poles, truss bridge etc. You could easily hit by an object and cause a tragic incident. As he said even more experienced locals died while trying to hang outside the train. But, thanks for the appreciation of this nice route.

Excellent cinematography, sound and narrative.....so impressively well done as it was a "casual" travel vlog of you and your friends.....yet, it had many of the "technical" elements of a "professional" travel video. It is not easy to keep your camera so still and therefore, enjoyable from a "moving train". Your drone/aerial shots were well done and your editing was "spot on". Because I'm in close Friendship with my Brothers&Sisters over there they show me so many secret, amazing Nature-Wonders!
And may be you forget to tell, that in Sri Lanka are living four different Religions absolutely kind, peaceful and friendly with each other!
They are most Buddish, but also Muslim, Hindus and Christians, and they don't have any Problems with each other!
And on the Top of Adam's Peak you could find the Footprint of Buddha (or ??? ), Jesus or another "Holy Prophet" of the Lord as He goes up to Heaven....
Amazing very old Legends... It's Magic, but a very peaceful and good One!
Nobody feels more "true and worth" like another - all "same-same"!
Also in Kataragama... The Temple is it worth to feel it.... Pure Magic! Incl. the Temple Elephant, same in the Temple of Buddha's Teeth in Kandy!
Oh whow, I'm in Love with Sri Lanka, for me it's my "Homeland", my Soul is there. Inside of me it feels as I am born in the wrong Hemisphere! 😉😏😍
And this since 1980/81 (and I have been there so very often and often also long Months, too), and after so many Countries I have been before and in the meantime...Sri Lanka is very special ! It "catched" me....forever ! 💞🌞💞
The "Blue Hole", it's in the South and the Ocean blows ~~ in different Minutes ~~ a grandious big "Water-Geysir" 10-15 Metres in the Sky, it's amazing and the Big Cliff/Rock where you are standing on is moving.. Brrrrr.😮😵😵..under your Feet from the Power of the Water-Geysir! It's WHOOOW! 🙌😍
I'm a bit sad that you not have seen (or talk about) the big Lagoon (Sweet /salty-Water-Lagoon ) in the South-West, close/behind to Bentota along to Galle, with the lot of little Islands and the big Bird-Colonies.... Looks like big white Flowers in the late Afternoon, when the Birds are coming home to their Sleeping-Trees..... Hundreds, thousands of them are sitting in the Trees there!
Or the big "Bats ", the Flying Dogs (so cute, but really big!) which are flying out around the Sunset to find something for food. The Sky become dark of them, like a big Cloud! You can find them around the Hills at Kandy, at "Elephant Bath", as Example!
You See....there is a lot more to tell about Sri Lanka.... 😍💓💞...

P.S.: you didn't tell, that Sri Lanka has at same time three (3) different Climatic Weather Zones! That's important, because when Monsoon is in the South-West, from Colombo till Galle/Yala National Park a.s.o., around the East Area, at Trincomale, Arugambay a s.o. is best Weather /pretty nice Season!
To Sri Lanka we (means: ME, and all other polite (!) friendly People please !) can come the whole Year... There will be every time a wonderful place to relax or made Excursions and Experiences in this old, magical Country!
And we can find on a small Island a lot of totally different Landscapes, from Desert (North) to Mountains (Middle), wild and carm Ocean (surfing and diving!) and Greens to real Rainforest! I love it, I can't tell it often enough! 😍🌞💞👍

Got to experience this journey. One of the best affordable scenic train ride. If you can sit on the right side of the train for the best view. The scenery is fantastic! 😍

ahmed R Haii, i stayed in Colombo for a few days, booked nuwara eliya hotel booking from Agoda app before i went to Sri Lanka. Just make sure you get the booking confirmation. And i remember going to Colombo Fort railway station to purchase the train ticket like 5 days in advance. However i think now you have to book tran a lot in advance. Just make sure to check it. I took the ticket from Colombo/Kandy/Ella. It was very cheap. It might take a total of 6hours. And from there we got a cab driver for the trip to hotel. Took 2,3 hours, he stoped for nice locations gave us a little tour and he even waited for us to eat even. He was really nice. Took about 40$. Just make sure to bargain for a good price as some might take higher prices. Be careful.
