That high note wasn’t Chance it was Bastien. During the BTS they were goofing around and Chance lip synced that part because he was trying to make Rob laugh and they decided to keep it in the video😊
The song was a suggestion by Bastien and, in my opinion, it was the perfect choice as an introduction song. It sure shhowcased Bastien quite well. I liked Tim's bass, Rupp's percussions and Rob's and Chance's background vocals, too. Overall, it was a perfect performance. Btw, those high notes weren't done by Chance (it was Bastien). He and Rob were just fooling around and had a kind of competition going on. They (or probably Jimmy) decided to keep it in. To me it was clear that you very much enjoyed the new song and if you want to hear more new of them you only have to wait until Friday. They're going to release the next one then. And your headphones are just fine, they still fit the colour scheme. Hopefully UA-cam doesn't make this comment disappear again (this is my second attempt). Thanks for the reaction.
Mortius, the video was done in TN. However you are correct, that one scene on the lake. That is Mount Rainer in the background. Points out her window. That mountain/volcano right there.
You can tell they had a blast filming this. It fills me with joy to see them so smiley and happy. Bastien obviously brings a lot of joy and exuberance.
Bastien is actually a OG for Home Free. He actually sang in Chris Rupp's group 7th Ave too. That is were I first heard him, I'm so glad that he is the one they picked. They sound so great together. I have missed seeing you. I'm glad that you are back with Home Free. I always enjoy watching your reaction to this group.
So good to see you releasing this one - lovely to see you enjoying it so much. Home Free have a Christmas album planned, so be prepared for plenty more Christmas music from them.
I've been having a great time watching reactors who are not familiar with Bastien. This was a perfect onto for him. Shows off his voice and his personality. I get to see them in person tonight. Can't wait.
@@hollyevoy2118 It was fun. Although it was at a fairground grandstand, so we were pretty far away. Sounded great, though. Started out with one of my favorites - Listen to the Music
@@kmwwrench I saw him in August (minus Home Free) at a Back Yard Bash and I was in front row. He came down from stage, so was singing about 1 foot away!!! Gail L.

Home Free did a great cover of one of my favorite Bonnie Raitt songs. Bastien's voice was perfect for the lead. Everyone sounded awesome in the background vocals, Rob with his bluesy sound, Tim's bass & Adam's vocal percussion. Looking forward to more of the new songs with the newest member.
I understand your feeling about the latest album. They were starting to get into a rut. Even if Austin had stayed there was a need to shake things up. Bastien joining the group has given them a needed shot in the arm. Bastien chose this Bonnie Raitt cover for his introduction to the Home Fries. Can't wait for what comes next. Great analysis.
It seems the shake ups happen about every four years or so...Chance joined in 2016. The ick happened in 2020 forcing the guys to get really creative and now the latest Adam.
Pardon me for asking but besides the re-enhancing of older songs, which I don't think was all that bad and I think a nice homage because it was 10 years, where was the rut? Unless that's what you're meaning.
@@sarahc2401 The Sing-Off was a shake up, too. They said in interviews at that time they were flat lining before they made it to the show. It brought them from a mostly midwest regional group to national/international notice.
@@sarahc2401 it's not unusual for vocal groups to need to shake things up every few years to keep their music fresh and exciting. Pentatonix and Voice Play have had changes over the years, too. The Pandemic forced a shake up to all of them.

@officialmortius I always love following up tim doing this song with his cover of evermore from beauty and the beast. Just a fun complete opposite direction
I totally understand when you think you recognize someplace in photos or video and you have to stop everything. I once recognized a park in a friend’s photos from a particular tree. 😂
This video gave us a lot to Talk About, didn't it! I understand the need to re-record tracks that were originally done under contract to another entity, but I felt like they were feeling a bit stale. Bastien has given them a new spark. It gave Rob a chance to go low and bluesy, it let Chance lip-sync to Bastien's high notes (but I think we all believe he could do it if he wanted), and it kept the Tim & Rupp underpinning that is the Home Free signature. The original by Bonnie Raitt was one of my college jams. I love what Home Free did with it.
Bastien has fitted in seamlessly. I love this rendition of this song. Bastien sang with them when they first started so they are very familiar with his voice and stage presence. Great reaction again Mortius
Good reaction Mortius! Bastien sounded great. It was not Chance doing that high part, it was Bastien but they were fooling around during filming and Chance was mimicking Bastien and they kept it in. I thought it was Chance too. I agree that Bastien has a smooth voice or clear voice I should say and he sounds great. Good Bonnie Raitt song.
I joined for Six, and have since caught up on Epic. I’ve never heard of Home Free, but now I have something new to check out! Are you familiar with Marianas Trench? They are a Canadian band that I think you would LOVE. I’d love to see you react to their music. Marianas Trench does concept albums, so the songs all lead into each other like a musical. They reuse motifs, both musically and lyrically, and both within an album and across multiple albums. Listening to their albums is much like experiencing each Saga from Epic for the first time! If you consider this, you should listen to each of their albums in order: Fix Me (optional, as it’s not quite got the concept album formula down yet, but a few motifs begin here) Masterpiece Theater Ever After Astoria Phantoms Haven (newly released) The harmonies are so good, and they do your favorite thing! Dropping the instruments to just harmonize mid-song! If you have any doubts, just listen to the first song from the Phantoms album, called Eleonora, and decide if it’s something you want to listen to and react to. I guarantee you will be hooked.
Fantastic! Just like I knew it would be. Looking forward to seeing/hearing more of the smiles, energy and sounds Bastien will bring to the group. Thanks for the Home Free reactions. ( it's about time. LoL)
I know it may sound weird, but I'm so happy that Home Free got a gay member now! I've seen some cases of homophobia being present within the community, but that will surely weed those bad apples out, just like their "Everybody Walkin' This Land' song did. Home Fries are a wonderful community, and I'm glad that it's only getting better and the unsavory parts disappear 💜
The fact that so many people apparently self-identified with who was being called out in “Everybody Walkin’ This Land” was wild. Glad those people showed themselves out.
At one point you suggested Rob was likely carrying the high harmony over Bastien. Personally, I didn't get a clear indication from the video (though, as most everyone should know by now, the video is lip-synched to a studio recording as demonstrated by Chance's game with the last high note), and my current setup isn't giving me a clear separation of those parts, so I could try identifying the tone, so i can't opine intelligently, however in the past, Home Free has said that when Austin was on lead, Tim would often carry that high harmony. I would imagine that remains the case with Bastien, and It's probably been done more since Chance joined and can comfortably carry the bass line for all but the 'dragon breath' lows. Rob is easily capable of doing so, but over the years the boys have seemed to prefer Tim in that role, at least for the catalog they have at this point. They put the best singers in the best roles to suit the song, so trends may change with song choices. Counting the days until I get to see them in mid-Oct..
Great reaction, Mortius, loved it and loved your energy and enthusiasm! I once heard Home Free say in an interview that Tim is sometimes doing the very high notes, the one above Austin‘s, and not Rob. Maybe it was also the case in this song!
