For me, jet drag cars have been fun to watch and experience for over 50 years. I was a young lad in the mid 60's when I saw my first jet car drag race. Wow... ! The approach to the line really hasn't changed in all these years. It was, to the best of my recollections, the same now as it was in the 60's. If you wanna impress kids, take 'em to the drags and if they have a few jet cars it will be a memory for life... guaranteed!
Could not agree more! Not to mention that the drivers encourage kids coming into the pit area, and often times offering a chance to sit in these cars. Priceless memories for a lifetime.

@@DragStripRiot This 45 year old "kid" still loves em, seen my first Jet Cars at Connecticut Dragway holding my mom's hand, i was just barely walking then Early Early 80,s i been into Drag Racing my whole life, and i Still Love seeing the Jet Cars, always been some my favorite drag cars to watch.
They aren't messing around nowadays. Back 20 years ago they were just a spectacle.
Shame how 50 years ago there would be 50,000 people watching and now it's like 500 but I am glad the sport is alive and well. Amazing that a blown 500 c.i. Nitromethane internal combustion reciprocating engine just dusts these... Amazes me every time.

My dad raced jet cars back in the 80's and 90's
That's awesome! What region did he run, and what was the name of the car?
He was based out of Portland, OR but he raced the entire country. He had a few cars their names were Sonic Syndrome, Maga Force and Hell Fire. Him and his partner were first cars to have the colored smoke
I seem to recall a jet car show from the early 90s match race events that featured the colored smoke show. And now we know. ;-)
