I just started watching diving videos, and I am so impressed with the incredible beauty and stunning creatures. I'm hoping to hear at least an acknowledgement of a Creator of all the things that we enjoy in these videos. Thank you!
We're glad you found our site and equally impressed by the variety, complexity and diversity of the underwater world. The symbiotic relationship of algae and coral (which, unfortunately is getting stress tested again with the warmer waters) is a marvel and we love watching cleaning stations...from juvenile wrasse all the way down to tiny shrimp advertising with their wildly waving antennae. It's been an extremely fun/educational journey and we can't wait to see what new creatures we meet every dive.. Thank you for joining the ride with us!
Thank you so much for those kind words, FlamingGuppy! It really is amazing what an iPhone can do. I should get the 15 Pro Max in the next few days and can't wait to see how well the new zoom works.
When I lived on church street (1 block east of Eden Rock) in the 90s, a goliath grouper used to hang out there. The thimble jelly migration in national Geographics "jewels of the Caribbean Sea" was filmed there. They were very cool to swim with.
Great video and this dive site brings back many great memories! My parents had a home on Grand Cayman for many years. The inspiration to get scuba certified was snorking at Eden Rock and watching the divers go through the swim throughs and seeing the champagne bubbles as you call them! When I returned home I got certified and later on and did my PADI Advanced Open Water certification in Grand Cayman. I have dove Eden Rock more than any site outside of the US. As you may know there are thousands, perhaps millions of fish called silversides that live in the caves in the summer months. I have spent a lot of time sitting in the caves and watching the Tarpon , Grouper, and Jacks hunting these fish. One of the best dive experiences I have ever witnessed! Thanks again for you awesome video and Leslie's photos are stunning!
We certainly understand how the site would inspire diving certification, Scott! We were told about the silversides while down there as well. While they sound very exciting, we already have 2022 booked between Curaçao and Bonaire. It is something we will investigate for 2023, though! Also, thank you for the kind words. Leslie was stoked about the photos comment as well. :-)
Unfortunately, the Superior Producer video will be a while. So far, I've only been able to go once and I would like to get at least four dives in for a video. Since you can't dive it at night, I'll need to have extra day footage. We should have more opportunities to dive it (no cruise ships) in the next month or so. Potentially, we could have it in April. Next up is Blue Bay on the 27th.
Just a “short” stay. We’re actually leaving for home on Wednesday to spend time with family and pick up a few toys. Will be back in Curaçao on Feb 1st and diving with Rebel on the 2nd. You are welcome to join us! 😀
@@TropicLens enjoy the holidays. Happy new year. Love to dive with you some day in Curacao. I just got my new camera. Tg6. Now im struggling with the settings..
Thanks Henk. You enjoy them as well. :-) Congrats on the camera. Leslie also has a TG6, though left it home given luggage size/weight restrictions. She might have a few pointers. She asked if you were using a strobe.
@@TropicLens yes i have a videolight and macro ringlight that can also flash. But im still trying which settings are the best. I like her pics on instagram. Would be great if she got some advice for me. Maybe whatsapp is easier for this. Ill contact her on instagram
Top 5 shore dives in Grand Cayman: All 5 have dive shops and bar/restaurants. 1) Eden Rock 2) Lighthouse Point 3) Cobalt Coast 4) Turtle Reef 5) Sunset House
We love fish watching and fish ID vids. Your ending feature showing and naming each creature is really helpful. Could you show each fish for a little bit longer? That would help us beginning fish watchers a lot. Thx!
Ask and ye shall receive, Jennifer. We've already selected longer songs for the Sea Life sections in both the Curaçao and Bonaire 2022 templates. Each ID clip will just about double from around 2 seconds to about 4 seconds. We have one more Grand Cayman video using the existing template, but starting with Curaçao in February, they will be longer. Hope this helps.
We've been to Grand Cayman a number of times and while we always carry DSMBs in case something goes wrong, we have not deployed them. That said, if I am understanding your situation, someone had an issue with deploying one? That does seem odd.
You need to tell the dive shop if you are going to launch a SMB at the end of your dive. If you don’t tell the dive staff, they will consider the marker as divers in trouble. There are many underwater navigation markers at lighthouse point, turtle reef and cobalt coast shore dives so you can complete your safety stop at an existing 15 feet surface marker in a safe area from boats. At lighthouse point, this 15’ marker is where you can find sea horses.
No, a diver down flag is not required, especially at shore dives with a dive shop with underwater navigation lines and an existing 15’ safety stop marker in an area safe from boats. In most cases if you launch a smb it indicates divers in trouble or lost.

Great diving on Grand Cayman. Awesome video, thanks for sharing.
Yes, we miss Grand Cayman. That is a particular island that is close to our hearts...and Eden Rock/Devil's Grotto is our favorite site on the island!
What an incredible video! Your channel is a hidden gem, you're so thorough with the fish annotations and absolutely breathtaking photos/videos.

@@TropicLens Thank you for the reply. I am in the process of booking my trip to Bonaire for August! Have a great day and Happy New Year!
Great! We'll have more Bonaire videos starting in late June. Curaçao from Feb - May. :-)
Beautiful camera work, and I love the fish identification. Thanks!
Those swim throughs are amazing
Indeed they are! :-)
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. Like
You are quite welcome. Glad you enjoy the videos RomanAYZ.

Thank you for the kind words Pete.

Does Grand Cayman require shore divers to carry a Diver Down flag? We were called out at Lighthouse Point for using our SMB after our dive. :(
