Tarikh is a daily program in which we present you with incidents and stories of noteworthy persons of Indian History in Hindi. In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about liberation of Goa. The "armed action" for liberation of Goa was code named Operation Vijay by the Indian Armed Forces. It involved air, sea and land strikes for over 36 hours, and was a decisive victory for India, ending 451 years of rule by Portugal over its remaining exclaves in India. The engagement lasted two days, and twenty-two Indians and thirty Portuguese were killed in the fighting.

One correction the first attempt to liberate Goa was by Second Maratha Chatrapati Sambhaji Raje 1683.....
This was on compliants by Hindus of religious persecution....
Viceroy was on the run only saved when Sambhaji had to divert to meet the Mughal forces travelling from Delhi

Nehru was waiting for the right time . He used all means to make the ground strong . He used proactive step rather than reactive step . He used reactive use in 1947 Kashmir war , but few mistakes now causing the biggest problem now . He may not have calculated properly .
Nehru was responsible for partition along with Congress.He was not even the elected representative of Congress ,but a nepotism choice.Subhash Babu was choice .His naiveness was seen in Hindi chini Bhai bhai saga .Nehru list of mistakes is endless , starting from Rejecting seat in un.
@@astheticrose960 Partition was solely due to the British and the Muslim League -- Indians largely did not want it. And Nehru did far more than any Indian PM. It is completely possible that without him at the helm india would have balkanised and ceased to exist like every pandit was predicting at the time of independence. Lastly, nehru did not reject the UN sear -- it was never really available. Read up upon these things and don't reply on WhatsApp forwards.

Yes, Nehru ji was a very complex personality and politician.
He waited for 14 long years due to unsuitable circumstances at internatiinal levels.
During these 14 long years, he continued to deliver his soothsayings and placatory soeeches on Goa and concealed his real intentions.
But when international scene changed, Nehru ji forgot his every pledge & conciliatory lectures in this matter and annexed Goa without any remorse.
Perhaps, observation of USA President Canady quoted in this video was right in this regard.
Perhaps, Nehru ji annexed tiny Goa for his vote calculations. He was an expert vote politician who knew well that emotional voters of his time (as against that time, present Indian Vote politics is totally motivated only for more and more racial and sectarian Quotas) will once again vote for him enmasse in the name of his flimsy brand of nationalism for which he used tiny Goa as a pawn.
Indeed, Nehru ji was a very clever and complex vote politician. His every thought was motivated for his electòral gains.
It is sad that Modi ji too is on the whole toing the line of very complex Nehru ji in the conduct of domestic and international affairs.
Perhaps, there appears to be no alternative for him in the available circumstances.

Nehru ke pass Phursat kahaan thi, he was busy in his Own World of Cigars & His Lady Charm. But you forgot to mention the role of RSS in Goa Liberation. RSS aur Mahasangh ka bada role tha Goans ko Azaad karwane mein.
RSS as a organisation never participated in freedom struggle. Nehru spend almost 13 years of his life in jail for freedom movement. It was the Indian forces are liberated Goa, but yes if RSS people have done any protest that is good too.
& the people of goa still gets nationality of Portugal
