Thanks for this, Mal! This is fantastic information. Using the way you broke this down, I use a combination of 2 and 3. I'll take not only filter media from another tank, but water as well - maybe as much as a 50% water change from an established tank and put that water into a new setup - depending on how large the new setup is. And I'm not sure if you mentioned it or if I missed - I'll usually add some API Quick Start to inoculate the tank with beneficial bacteria as well. Just my two cents. Great share, Mal. Cheers, Mate! ~Ron

Thanks Ron. Its a great call using tank water too. It is something I missed tbh. Ive never used quick start, nor prime so didnt want to mention them. I recently changed the filter on my angelfish tank to a fx4. I seeded that with my old filter media and i never got any spikes. Seeding is definitely the way forward for anyone who has the opportunity.

@@BGN_Aquariums I agree. I like the seeding method as well. So how do you like the FX4?

@garageaquatics2023 oh mate. I love it. Its a 300L tank. I had an oase running on it. With a large internal running along side it. The oase sprung a leak so went for the fx4. I thought the water was crystal before. How wrong is was. I would highly recommend it. Would put one on the Rainbowfish tank but they are bulky. So it wouldn’t fit. The only downside about it really is its size
