Alternative to PCR tests

UW-Madison biomedical engineers have developed a faster, simpler and less expensive alternative to PCR tests, the gold standard for detecting SARS-CoV-2. The test, which could easily be adapted to other infectious diseases, is based on an innovative combination of technologies, several of which have been developed in the lab of David Beebe, the John D. MacArthur Professor and Claude Bernard Professor in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
