    Thank you Cathy. I'm not a Nurse or studying to be a Nurse, but rather a 59 yr male who is scheduled to have a TURP soon and your information was very helpful, thank you again.

    I had TURP done on 10/02/2023 the best thing I have done. My other doctors were just giving me pills for years. They just about destroyed my bladder. I was having to use catheters sometimes to pee. Just find a good surgeon who knows what they are doing. That is what I did was to find a good doctor, who told me what I needed. I pee so good now, I wonder why they made me suffer for so long. Pills do not work they did nothing for me.

      agreed, had this procedure about 4 months ago now. Glad to be off the pills (Flomax and Avodart) and zero major issues. PSA test scheduled for next week will be interesting to see what the reading is; pre-surgery my PSA was 14.5 even with both pills.

      It’s great that you are getting more information on your upcoming surgery. It is a very common surgery, but there is definitely a recovery period and things to expect after the procedure. Here is a link to a website that provides reliable, good information about TURP: medlineplus.gov/ency/article/002996.htm. I hope your healthcare team takes excellent care of you and you have a speedy recovery. Take care. ❤️

    Thank you doctor. But I have some questions. 58 years old, have been taking alphalytics for over 5 years. I felt terrible. The pressure was unchanged, but the head was spinning, the strength was lacking. A couple of times, when I tried silodosin, the worst of all molecules, I had to phone my wife to come pick me up, because I didn't recognize the way home!!! The latest generation alphalytics, tamsulosin, alfuzosin, silodosin, do not lower blood pressure, but cause dementia. It's not life, but survival. Miserable survival. For over 5 years, at every moment, I seriously thought I was dying. Furthermore, on a sexual level, tamsulosin and silodosin do not cause retrograde ejaculation but total anaejaculation. Also after a few months, you can't urinate. I do not know why. Maybe the prostate swells and prevents it from coming out? I don't know, but it's terrible. They are counterproductive. Since you urologists say that ejaculating frequently, it reduces the risk of prostate cancer by 30%. Isn't it a contradiction to prescribe something that completely blocks ejaculation? I mean, take silodosin or tamsulosin and you'll have a 30% greater chance of cancer? And in the meantime will you live worse than a stray dog, due to the extreme discomfort they cause? Is this to avoid having a surgery that takes about thirty minutes? Alphalytics are NOT candy! Better the resector, the laser, the steam, whatever you prefer, but not the alphalytics. I err?

    • @LevelUpRN
      @LevelUpRN  Рік тому +1

      Yes those are in the Nervous System section. There are cards that provide an anatomy and physiology review towards the front end of that section, and eye/ear disorders are towards the back of that section.

    The nurse observes an increased number of blood clots in the drainage tubing of a client with continuous bladder irrigation following a transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP).
    What is the best initial nursing action?-good a.
    Increase the flow of the bladder irrigation
    b.
    d.
    Measure the client's intake and output
    Administer a PRN dose of an antispasmodic agent
