Listen bro, as a bro[ke] man myself, I can tell you that you wasted way too much time, energy and money trying to get your drywall to support a frikin cat. Home slice, you need to look up what "studs," are. They're the two-by-fours in your wall that go up and down that the drywall gets drilled into. Find those, and screw your cat platforms onto those. That would have been the first place I would have mounted those things to. Get a strong neodymium magnet and find the screws they used to secure the drywall. Get two up and down in a row, and you've got a line of where a stud is at. Rinse, and repeat for all mounting points. When you mount things to the studs, they're sturdy enough to allow YOU to jump up and down on them, with your wife (if you know that I mean). Your cat is so beautiful. That room is super cool too. The fact that you take time to play with him is awesome!!!! People sometimes forget to interact with them. It satisfies their need to hunt and run, keeps them healthy plus bonds you. You're a great cat dad
No drywall screws, no matter how expensive, will survive a vibrating load. Specifically, the drywall will always disintegrate over time. For a dynamic load like this, even only a cat's weight, it's a requirement for everything to be anchored into a stud. If your stud width doesn't match up with a desired plaform location, put a board flat across two studs and mount the platform to the board.
Yeah, this. It's also a whole lot easier to screw into studs than deal with complicated and messy anchors. I think it might be OK to get one stud each, then a couple molly bolts for stability. That's how I do most of the stuff I've installed in my house, and I haven't had anything come loose yet. The stuff that always comes loose are the undersized and goofy push-in/screw-in anchors, installed by the previous owner's contractors.

i install artwork. for drywall, those metal ones cannot be beat. the plastic ones of the same shape are also okay. the big toggle ones we would only use for really heavy stuff that, realistically, should not really be hung on drywall... for heavy stuff, you can alsp try to drill into studs, those metal supports.
This is the highest form of enrichment for a cat because this is what they would do in their natural environment they as both prey and predator animals need this. So well done.
Then you can't position anything at all using only the studs, dimfuk. You can't locate and mount anything whatsoever, using only studs. No pictures. Nothing.
They're fine for static loads, but a hyperactive feline bounding around like a lunatic is anything but a static load! That said, studs are certainly better strength wise, but Mr. Murphy sees to it that they rarely seem to be in the desired location.
Find any wall-stud, then measure 16 inches in either direction, it will solve the problem. Use 2.5 inch wood screws, attached directly into the wall-stud... the metal bracket will bend before the shelf sags.
I LOVE how your cat looks at you working on her new 'challenge' 😍 I am working on a simular project, 'bit' larger, they don't know yet what's coming and I can't wait to see them climb and fly around! Beautiful animal you've got there, tremendously talkative which is so so so nice.
As someone who worked at a Lowe's in the hardware department for a couple years, I always tell someone to get something sturdy and whatever the weight is, add an extra 20 lbs to the anchor. You might forget they are there and if you put something heavy, you'll watch your shelf just crash to the ground
I don't recommend glueing the carpet on like this. I recommend painting the boards with beeswax to make them waterproof and then buy fare sheepskins and fix them with boat tarp screws. Those screws have press-button tops. You cut the fake fur into the right size, then sew the edges to stop it from ribbing. You can then attach the press button top of the screw on the fake fur piece, then press it onto the screw fixed in the board. That way you can take them off and wash them and if they get frayed they can be easily replaced. Those screws are meant to be used to fic tarp on top of boats. The screw remains in the boat and the press button top is fixed on the tarp. They're very sturdy and you can just wash them with the cloth.

The "shelves" you are using look to be at least 2 feet in length so just use a stud finder and find the studs and screw the l brackets to wall into the studs. Doesn't matter if the bracket isn't placed neatly equi distance on each end of the shelve as long as the bracket on each side screws into the stud it will be solid. Btw your studs should be either 16 inches apart or 24 inches apart from center of stud to center of stud. Sheet rock isn't made to hold weight like that and is prone to crumbling...

My sister has bengals maybe I’ll recommend since she doesn’t walk them and doesn’t want them outside so this would be great since they are crazy and are destroying the house plus like to wee on my dogs bed and a few random stuff around the house
Yeah, the marking territory has to stop. Make sure they know You are head cat around the house, not them. Also ask the vet what's best to break them of that.
@@julieutley2073 Neutering usually prevents territorial marking but it's much more difficult to stop once they've established the behavior. Enrichment and exercise like in the video should help, an outdoor catio is also great for cats and keeps them safe.
@@julieutley2073 neutering at 6 months old is the way to stop marking. All the resr is stupid and is classified as animal abuse. U should not punish animals for what they do due to naiture
Bengals need to be provided enrichment. They’re a super high energy breed and not a good fit unless you have a good setup for them.
@@bambinaforever1402 not animal abuse. Training where it's appropriate is something I've seen other cats do.
This video was so heartwarming. It makes me happy to see a great owner spoiling a wonderful cat. Thanks for posting and sharing your experience.
Loved your sincerity towards cat lovers and pet owners....and your sincere intent to provide them with information that would help their cats have a happy time at home and a great relationship with their owners
We installed 8 foot sections of walnut tree to our cat wall. It is awesome to watch them scale it. Totally agree about the forces. I have large cats that are over 20 lbs and we put everything into the studs. You get hit in the face, and we have them jumping over us while we are sitting on the sofa. Very unnerving to have a missile with claws zooming over you! Location matters! ❤️

Says someone without a cat, I bet? That's usually a recipe for disaster.
he does have another cat, I saw one in another short
@@ChrisAndCats NOT!... We have two that can be very active. One keeps the other out of mischief. The more active of them getting into trouble left his own escapades.😊😅😢
So you disagree with him and the other 50 people that liked his post?
Two cats is a recipe for disaster?!
Then, as someone who grew up in a home that normally had at least 4 cats, plus the occasional visitor, I count my lucky stars that I survived into adulthood! 😂
While you are drilling the cat is looking like are you done yet!!!!! 😅😺
Счастливый котик, как ему повезло! Такой аттракцион ему не каждый хозяин сделает
Хороший кот - это кот который спит 😂
i install artwork. for drywall, those metal ones cannot be beat. the plastic ones of the same shape are also okay. the big toggle ones we would only use for really heavy stuff that, realistically, should not really be hung on drywall... for heavy stuff, you can alsp try to drill into studs, those metal supports.
Obviously it's better to go into the stud, not just rely on drywall for jumping weight.
This is the highest form of enrichment for a cat because this is what they would do in their natural environment they as both prey and predator animals need this. So well done.
I never trust drywall anchors. Drywall just isn’t strong enuf. I only ever screw into studs.
Then you can't position anything at all using only the studs, dimfuk. You can't locate and mount anything whatsoever, using only studs. No pictures. Nothing.
Agreed. Couldn't figure out why he wasn't just using the studs
They're fine for static loads, but a hyperactive feline bounding around like a lunatic is anything but a static load! That said, studs are certainly better strength wise, but Mr. Murphy sees to it that they rarely seem to be in the desired location.
She’s so sweet and athletic. What a beautiful cat!!!
Find any wall-stud, then measure 16 inches in either direction, it will solve the problem. Use 2.5 inch wood screws, attached directly into the wall-stud... the metal bracket will bend before the shelf sags.
고양이가 정말 행복해 보이네요.
나도 내 집이 있다면 만들어주고 싶어요.

Awww. He loves his baby. ❤
Thank you for the tips.
I LOVE how your cat looks at you working on her new 'challenge' 😍 I am working on a simular project, 'bit' larger, they don't know yet what's coming and I can't wait to see them climb and fly around! Beautiful animal you've got there, tremendously talkative which is so so so nice.
No, find a stud! At least one bracket. 3 on a short shelf is not too much with the movement.
As someone who worked at a Lowe's in the hardware department for a couple years, I always tell someone to get something sturdy and whatever the weight is, add an extra 20 lbs to the anchor. You might forget they are there and if you put something heavy, you'll watch your shelf just crash to the ground
Love what you give your cat! I'll be doing something similar in my living room. Thanks for sharing.
Wow smart, so your cat can stay active and healthy💪 Good Job🎉
Good job giving your beautiful cat stimulating indoor exercise options!
Video was good too!
Raja very obviously approves, and so do we! Well done, David! Wonderful planning for indoor cat activities. Raja is a very happy cat. 😻😻😻
I absolutely adore you for doing this ! THANKS 🙏 so very very much
Your kitties need some Kitty Kafé and Katio now 😻
my guy, thank you for this video from the bottom of my heart. i literally started to make my own cat shelf wall in the past couple weeks and appreciate the details you put in here.
I LOVE this idea! And your cat looks so happy to be running around this room. This is so smart!🐾
Excellent video because I wanted to install wall shelves for my cats but was too scared they would fall off... Thank you for sharing ✌️💗
@1betterthanyou1 Hi, do you have any helpful information, I haven't started the project yet as it would be helpful.✌️
My favorite thing is the kitty watching you build his play house😄😄
Me too! 😂
Their evolution is amazing ❤
Many thanks for the details on mounting the shelves to the wall!
Such great enrichment for this lucky cat ❤

My husband and I were inspired and with a few adjustments because our cats are very large and needed direct screwing into the stud, we are proud to have a living room and an office with cat shelves!
What a great home for active cats! 🎉 I love it! How I wish you did this for others; I'd hire you in a heartbeat!
You can tell he loves his cat.
If you're not mounting your shelves into the studs (that are usually spaced every 16") then you're going to be running into problems with the drywall. Especially with the weight of a jumping cat. Beautiful cat by the way!
I love that the cat is chirping as you set up more shelves
Cute kitty but seriously love the music choice I’ve a really good hear for just about any type of music but really good when it’s related to my favorite movies or games so hearing the Aristocats soundtrack really made me smile also love how your cat talks to you so cute
NGL.. I feel like jumping on his shelfs. Seems like fun and good exercise.
I cannot wait to take mine on a hike. Both of us were worn out and that way just a little of the ways. I did not have on hiking shoes, but my kitten sure did love it. Going again. Hiking river trail.
Cat is the boss in this house. Cats have servants.
Dogs have owners, cats have staff.
Какой классный парень!
Повезло хвостику 🐱
The "shelves" you are using look to be at least 2 feet in length so just use a stud finder and find the studs and screw the l brackets to wall into the studs. Doesn't matter if the bracket isn't placed neatly equi distance on each end of the shelve as long as the bracket on each side screws into the stud it will be solid. Btw your studs should be either 16 inches apart or 24 inches apart from center of stud to center of stud. Sheet rock isn't made to hold weight like that and is prone to crumbling...
I wish someone invested this much care and effort into my happiness
This is AWESOME!!!! I want to do this for my fur babies!!! 💖🐈😍😊
What a happy active kitty! This made me so happy! 😻❤️
Cats are social animals. The cat needs a companion! Individual posture is very sad and not species-appropriate
@@jussinick2131 The human is the cats companion. My male cat hates all cats and violently fights them. I have a female cat and they have to be entirely separated for safety. Not all cats like other cats.
This is great fun for the cat and human
… and UA-cam viewers 😅
Staples are awful for cat trees etc. my cats used to get claws stuck in them and it was extremely painful for them. I changed to using carpet tacks instead
2:15 🤗🤗🤗I see how much the cat loves👍
Another benefit of having brick walls.
You still have to get the right anchors. Even in brick walls it is easy to poorly mount something.
The constant jarring would waller out the mount and shelf will drop off the walls.
@@Jesus_is_All_we_need pre drill a hole, 6mm will do, and put in a plastic wall plug, then screw into that. If you didn't mess up the hole, it'll hold forever.
@@voxelfusion9894 👍 Thanks for your informative reply!😁
LOVE this!
As much as I would love to do this with my cat, he's 18lbs(no he's not fat..) and I feel he would tear the drywall apart as he landed on the shelves. No matter the anchor size.
attach to the studs and you should be fine
I love how happy your kitty is with his kitty maze 😊.
Your cat is so happy snd having do much fun. You done a great job. Thanks for making your cat happy.❤
0:09 Your "biggest mistake" was filming this in portrait rather than landscape.

Excellent work.
I'd happily watch a video of this cat just jumping around the room, what a happiness radiating soul
0:59 That meowing is the cutest thing I've ever heard!!
Meaning, the problem is that your walls are Drywall and not Bricks
To put this much effort and safety into creating an elevated obstacle course for your 4-legged felines says volumes about you as an animal lover. 🥰
I'm allergic to cats and have only liked 3 out of the hundreds I've met, but I want one just so I can watch it jump around on stuff like this
That's a big shame dude!!! Fortunately your problem is solved!!!!! There are hipoalergenic cats, just look for them and enjoy all those amazing chirps, meows and cuddle one!!!!
