sweet video ian, thanks for updating us :) really like your native there, with his colorful war face! your kursk gb entry was a joy to follow along, certainly a piece you like very much as well. i´m glad so see the napoleonic piece done, very dramatic indeed!
Found your Channel last week, I have to Thank you for lighting the Spark under my ass as i had lost the mojo on my figures, i have not painted a figure in like a year :/ So thanks. Your videos and nice and clear and to the point.
I enjoyed the vid, osprey have some nice books on the French indian wars they have a hard back that covers the subject well with lots of illustrations . The retreat from Moscow piece has buckets of atmosphere . Regards Gav .
gavin booth Thank You Gav, yeah I found a lot of illustrations and paintings on Pinterest quite a few looked to be from Osprey. I’ll keep an eye out for books. I know for sure some of their Nepoleonic books are in my future. I have a couple on the Indian Wars and cavalry. Great stuff!
Tall grass, might I suggest deer hair, if you have an outdoor sporting goods store that caters to fresh water fishing, they should have fly tying supplies. Comes on patch of hide, close up the hairs actually taper like tall grasses. I think one reason you are having second thoughts on your native american figure is the "overcoat" is a similar skin tone to the face, imo. You have captured the "Retreat from Moscow" rather well. A chilled atmosphere. Cheers Eh! GordE
Gordon Enquist thank you Gordon! I agree for sure on the jerkin and skin tones, good call. I’ was thinking of going towards more of a Black Brown with it but Maybe I should go with a cooler color.
Nice update, Ian. The figures look really good. And that dog turned out nice. FB... I find these days that I axe more people that add. I am part of a few groups, but have very, very few "friends." I get weary of all the political crap. If I want political commentary I'll look for it in an appropriate place, not a model group! Good stuff, amigo!
Really enjoy these Ian...off to find your blog.
