Nick, i want to transmit my gratitude for your tutorials. As a man who self diagnosed his sleep apnoea and was given a Phillips dream star C-plus it changed my life and gave me a new lease of life and some really good sleep for the last 10 years. Let me share a story, one week ago my latest Phillips Dream star went into Service required mode so i packed it up and went to my local C.P.,A.P store where i was informed that my machine was had had a world wide recall and was not being made anymore. They informed me that the foam disintegrated and could possible lead to cancer. How surprised i was to hear this as i was happy and still using this machine and was not aware of the recall and was while my Phillips was off getting serviced was going to purchase another one so i always has a spare. So long story short, i am now the proud owner of a Resmed 10 Auto. Found your channel and watched your tutorials on the ResMed 10. Your approach is gentle, informative and above all extremely helpful. With your help via UA-cam, i have set the Resmed up to suit my sleep patterns and have had some of the best sleep of my life. God bless for sharing your knowledge as i certainly appreciate it.

Nick!! Thank you. Changed max pressure down to 95% avg, moved to “soft” comfort -- sleeping longer, leak is way down, and events in zero to 1.5 range. It’s been a week of very similar, better data and better sleep !! Thank you!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I feel like I am suffocating when I first put my mask on. I’ve called the company several times where I got my machine from and the keep telling me there is nothing wrong. I have been going through this since 2020. I started out using the full mask for about 3 months. Didn’t like it. So I tried the pillows and found them a lot more comfortable. When I first put my mask on I have to breathe through my mouth to get enough air. Now I am excited to go home to change the settings myself to see if that works.
Just wanted to add my thanks. Recently had a sleep study (1st June 22) after my son stated I was snoring loudly and sounding like I was gasping for breath. Finally got the report via the GP yesterday - (1st July 22) Severe OSA. Booked to see a technician on Tuesday to hopefully buy a CPAP myself. I came across your channel after researching the RESMED 10 after a recommendation from a mate who used to sell a competing product (so definitely no brand bias). You've been clear and logical and reinforced my decision. I'm a nurse who worked in ICU up until recently, (now ED) and we played with CPAP to get an understanding of how it feels for patients. I'm hoping it clears this fog of tiredness, which hopefully will mean more energy to exercise which will hopefully lead to weight loss. The biggest issue I always saw was people (in ICU) jamming the masking on too tight, to get no leaks, which lead to pressure sores and the next worse thing was ramping the pressure up too fast. (Granted this was for pulmonary oedema treatment so not quite the same use - but the therapy is the same) Thanks for this series. My only worry (being single) is how it will work dating, if and when that ever happens again.
Awe congratulations. We're somewhat in the same boat. I just got my machine today. I can't wait to hopefully get some good sleep tonight and no longer feel tired. I totally understand not having the energy to workout. Congrats again and best of luck on your journey to better health. Let me know how it's going for you.
Thank you for this tutorial. Was put on this machine after...you know what... and have been able to 'tolerate it' I will SAVE so I can see easily how to adjust something. Thank you again!
I hope I can get mine down from 45.0 to 5 or less. I'm using both a fisher and P sleep style and a rested auto air sense 10. I do think there is something terribly wrong with my fisher and p sleep style.
I just wanted to say thank you so much for explaining so well the workings of the Resmed AirSense 10. I have had mine for maybe 3 months & it has been a bit of hit & miss. It is so great to actually now understand how it all works. All I need to do now is find your Video on how to clean the machine the way it should be done. I would like to say thank you once again. Keep up the good work & Videos. Kind regards, Lynnette.
Thanks Mate. I'm a 67 year old kiwi living in Brazil after a Polysonnagraphia exam with an AHI of 44. Just bought the CPAP Resmed with airlift mask and I have my first meeting with the physiostherapist tomorrow to evaluate and calibrate the machine. Your video was excellent and demponstartes the basic in order to manage the machine effectivly to achieve thje goals. I aslo watched another video related to the side effects of not knowing how to calibrate the CPAP machine. Thank you Good Luck with the Rugby Championship with your 4th or 5th New Zealand coach hahaha, Brett
How did you go with your machine? Has it done as well as you hoped? I had been using the Philips years ago and was just going to restart it, but found it was recalled. So have opted to by a resmed 10. But they offered me a resmed 11 for just a bit more. But I like the dials rather than the touch screen.
Hi Lesley, a big thanks for your membership to the channel. That's very kind of you! Your financial contributions really do help. (This machine just cost me $1399 here in Australia ). I'm glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully it helps improve your therapy and sleep. Lots of love. Nicko
SUPER helpful video, thanks mate. I had my first ever night on CPAP therapy last night and it was as intimidating, scary, overwhelming as i feared it would be. I'm a very positive person with a positive mindset and I'm sure I will get used to the commitment with perserverance. But your videos help so much, even just as a reminder that we're not alone out there.
Gidday Nick, 73yo Aussie expat in SEAsia here, and I have been aware of my sleep apnea for years, but it was mild and I thought minor. But got a lot worse in the last year or so. I didn't bother with the preliminary doctor stuff, seemed the outcome would be the same, you have sleep apnea and need CPAP. therapy Found your channel, really appreciate your calm and thorough explanations and ordered my ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset and had my first night last night. A little conditioning to go through yet, but I was not woken up short of breath and no headache today. I am in it now for the long haul and with your help and encouragement, don't doubt it will be way worth it. AND, my wife sends her thanks because she got her first night without me loudly snoring for a long time. What you do is helping so many people so much, so just know that it is greatly appreciated!
This is extremely helpful! I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and I am currently having a one-week trial with ResMed AirSense 10 from my health insurance. I am currently on day 4/7 and I felt like I didn’t want to buy my own CPAP machine because I don’t think I will use it (and because of the cost) because I feel horrible whenever I use the machine. Seeing this video, showing that it can be adjusted to the most appropriate setting for my condition helped me change my mind. Thank you very much for this info!
Nikko you are a Friggin god send ! I didn’t get a call back from the Sleep RT today and I wanted to make changes for the weekend because the pressure has been off the charts and I couldn’t use it throughout the night ( new to this x 3 nights only) Just made the adjustments per your incredible instructions. So will track my own progress for the next few days. You beauty mate 😂👍🏻
I am just about to get a ResMed AirSense 10 as I purchased an inferior machine on Amazon and it seems to work back to front, What I mean by this is that in ramp mode it is on full blast, and after a few minutes reduces to the set pressures. I am not new to CPAP machines, I have had three thus far. But this one from Amazon is appalling, hopefully, the AirSense 10 will be much better for me. I am so happy to have found this channel, it is full of useful hints and tips, especially in the adjustment of the Airsense settings.
Wow I never knew about this channel. I have been on the cpap for about 3 years now. My original reading when tested was 99. I never knew how to check my results on the machine I am going to give it a try to. Thanks for your clear tutorial.
Great info Nick, it’s been a huge help. I’ve been struggling with mask leaks, dry nose and throat and painful bloating due to swallowing air, and waking up multiple times a night. I suspected my pressure was set too high, so using your info I gradually dialled back the upper pressure level, and keeping an eye on the AHI I found the best pressure has come down to 8. No more painful bloating, no more mask leaks, dry mouth etc and my AHI is 3 and I’m averaging 1.5 events per hour most nights instead of 8-9 or more.
Thank you so much for taking so much time to explain all the details of this! As someone who loves data just the green smiley faces were driving me crazy and you have given me the freedom and understanding to have control of my sleep.
Hi there, thanks for your very generous channel donation. It's not expected but very much appreciated. I'll take the kids out to breakfast on Saturday morning. Thank you!
Excellent tutorial covering ResMed AirSense 10 settings! It's indeed helpful as I began my trial with the same model today (shifting from Phillips). Thank you so much.
This video is exceptional. 👏👏 My ResMed has been out for repair and it irks me having to use DS2. Will revisit this tutorial again when my machine returns. Thanks for the advanced info. My sleep centre said I am getting to much information overload. Told her I like being pro-active. Happy Thanksgiving 🐔 I am thankful to you and your crew 🙏
Thanks, I've had the worse time with leakage since the last time I went to my Dr, was doing fine before he changed things up, I've had the worst dry mouth and seem too warm , I'm beginning to hate my cpap, I keep things clean, but it wakes me up every night, imm going to have to go back to this and check out everything, thanks for your help, this opens my eyes to my condition, seems they don't want to explain things ,because the tec never show me the things you do!!!!
Thank you so much mate, the written instructions are sadly useless but your tutorial really helped me understand how to use and get the most bang for my bucks from this therapy 👋😊
This is GOLD! just started using an ibreeze this week. Although the menu is diffrent, the idea is the same. Using it is Still uncomfortable for me. I am excited to apply what i have learned here. Here to reaching that 5 below mark! Cheers!!!
Thanks, that was really helpful. Learnt a lot. Was trying to decide with my purchase whether I would upgrade to a Resmed 11, but I think I will stick to the 10 for her, as it seems easy to use the dials. I am getting sick of blue tooth devices and problems connecting.
Mine was set at 20 and i dropped it to 15 after having some wakeups and leaks and it worked, but now seeing this video i know i was doing the right thing and im going to drop it a little less now😊
Great stuff, thanks! Coming from a Respironics DreamStation 1, I find the Standard response setting on the Airsense 10 to be so much more gentle than the DreamStation already, I can’t quite imagine how the Soft response would be
Hi Nicko Love your videos. Been using CPAP machines since 2001. On my third machine now (AirSense10). I found “sleepyhead” software (now Oscar) and review things more often than I should😀, but it really helps you know how you’re doing. Lots of info in the help menu. My journey began with a two night clinical study where they showed a ridiculous number of Apneas per hour and my blood oxygen level down around 79%. Thanks to CPAP I’m normally in the 1.5 API range. Thanks for all you do & keep the videos coming. Your crow friend gives me a chuckle when you’re recording outside 🤣
Great video, Nick. Quick question. I'm a bit confused by the values shown when I set the Period to 1 day. Is this last night or the night before? I ask because the AHI value shown on 1 day report typically is not the same number as what is shown in EVENTS for the ssme report. I trust I have explained the issue clearly. If anyone knows the answer, it would appreciate..
Great info Nick. Wish I had gotten this info from the people here in the states. They have never explained anything. I feel all they're looking for is money from me.
Thank you so much! The place I got my CPAP has done practically no follow up and i didn't know about the clinical setting. Kept getting dry mouth and now I see the humidity level was only set on 3. Found many things I could change now!! My AHI has been 18.3 total AI is 18.2 and central is 11 so hopefully now I can get that down. Thanks again!
Thank you for the most detailed explanation on the AirSense settings. I was stugling with my new machine and the user manual says nothing about those parameters.
Thank you sir! I was wondering why I could not get all this information like I could on my older AS10! Just gotta push that "Plus" radio button. Shame on the tech that didn't tell me that!
I was being blasted at night by high pressure and leaks and noise. I adjusted my max pressure and Voila! Good night sleep and therapy success. Do you talk about adjusting EPR?

I am a newby...at being diagnosed...so much is involved and seems overwhelming....hope I can keep up...pending my next Dr's appt to see what the result of my titration test. Yikes!!
Just take it nice and slow mate. Keep watching vids and taking it all in but don't get concerned if it's all a bit much. Over time it will start to make more sense. Best wishes
Great work as usual Nicko. I have a little bit to add in case it's useful to someone out there. The session resets at a particular time of day. For me I'm not sure if it's midday or 1pm (and it might vary during daylight savings). Anyway if you use the CPAP for a few minutes after that reset it will clear what shows for the day and start again. If you're trying to make sure you got a particular number of hours in a session for compliance (e.g. 4hrs+, or 7hrs on the MyAir) or your own peace of mind that's important. Personally if I was going to use autopap, I would probably add 1 to 95 percentile to set the max pressure. It's not a huge difference and might prevent AHI from going up. I would also only rely on that if I'd been using the machine for a while (say over a month). But most of my experience is with constant pressure and I'm not using an autopap at the moment. My concern is if you do snore it starts to inflame your airway, and then more pressure is needed, but the effect may take a few days to show up. So the other thing is to monitor AHI closely for the month or so after you make the change.
thanks, this was appreciated. My Ahi started at 30 but now is 45 and I use the machine on 11. I've only been using CPAP for a week and right ow wish I had never started.
Even with a small mask leak like 1 L, my oxygen was plummeting throughout the night. I really don't get the full benefit of CPAP therapy unless there is no leak whatsoever. And I've been able to accomplish that the past 4 to 5 Nights by just tightening the mask much more.
Thanks NIck, very clear explanations. I find that my 95% pressure is 12. I don't set my upper limit at 20 but I do set it at 13 not 12 because on Oscar I find that at times (5% of the time) I can go as high as 13. If it has to send a pulse of pressure to 13 it might have a better time of actually clearing the apnea and 13 isn't that much higher than the average.
I'm catching up on your vid today ..very 👍 👍 👍. Thanks for the info on the low pressure change! I don't get my AHI's below 5...ever. May change starting pressures
Great Video Nick! I was wondering if there was a place in the clinical menu where it shows the TOTAL # of hours on the machine. My last machine I had for close to 10 years and it had a significant number of hours on it. That menu was easy to access. With the ResMed, it is not readily available. Maybe you can do a companion video for that application if it exists. Thanks!
I'd love to have functionality from the phone as I'm totally blind and have to get assistance with changing settings. it's one reason I bought the Fisher and P sleep style but as I've said previously, something is very wrong with it. Either that or I'm the only one who can't do CPAP therapy. I've been compliant, kept it clean but with A h I of 45, I'm not sure.
Hello, this video was great. My problem is.... dry mouth. I sleep with nose pillows. I wake up with a a dry month and sometime very very tired. I have called the medical provider sleep lab -- and they are no help. I hoping, now that I have reviewed your video the problem will resolve.

Hi Nick thank you for all your information I have a new res med air sense10 auto set . I set the cpap machine up like you said thank you for all of your knowledge 👍
Great video Mate! Dropping the max pressure just above the “pressure” number has been a huge help! I was wondering if when I remove the mask in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and the unit blows like mad, is that averaging in as an event or air leak or does the machine know the difference?
Nice one, glad you enjoyed the video . The device is pretty good at determining what is mask leaks and value of leak from exhalation ports etc that is acceptable. Cheers
Have the ResMed app and usually check out numbers daily. I know good sleep is important but most nights I get 5-6 hours of sleep per night. The Resmed drops the overall score quite a bit if it's below 7 hours of sleep per night. Who sets up the numbers stating 7 hours is the minimum therapy hours a person receives?
This is a great video, thanks for posting! What is the essentials setting for? How does plus differ from standard? Does exposing this special menu possibly void your warranty? Thanks very much.

(Granted this was for pulmonary oedema treatment so not quite the same use - but the therapy is the same)
Thanks for this series.
Hi Peter, thanks for your great comment. Here's a vid to help with cpap & dating - ua-cam.com/video/N4Z96-CcMck/v-deo.html
Thank you for this tutorial. Was put on this machine after...you know what... and have been able to 'tolerate it' I will SAVE so I can see easily how to adjust something. Thank you again!
You're welcome! Best wishes
Ooh my! I changed my pressure and for first time in 10 months I have no mask leaks or dry mouth. Thank you so much!
Great to hear it my friend. Glad i could help
Great work Nick, Since I have been watching your youtube I have gone from AHI of 4.7 down to 1.30. Hypopnoea of 3.4 to 0.67 THANK YOU
Hi Joe, that's awesome brother! Congrats . Now i put the challenge to you to get it under 1 hahaha. All the best mate. Nicko
@@CPAPReviews Under 1????? gee asking a lot but will try just a little bit of fine tuning and I think I will get there Mate.
@@CPAPReviews I think I did it last night. I send it to you.
You're very welcome!
Fantastic. Thank you Nicko. I was never shown any of this. Just been flapping in the breeze for about 3 years
Hi Lesley, a big thanks for your membership to the channel.
Thank you. I had dry mouth but it improved greatly when I adjusted humidity and temp😀
Been using cpap 15+ years. Have this resmed machine 4 +years and have never looked at the sleep report. Thank you Nick! I have some work to do.
Lowering my max pressure to that number has helped me tremendously. Thank you. Your videos are invaluable. Keep them coming.
Hi Brandon, fantastic mate . It's great to hear you're enjoying the vids brother. All the best. Nicko
Thank you very much for this info!
but anyway forgot to mention, You're the King of SA, I wish mu doctor's tell me that much about it, Love You to
Hi there, that's very kind of you to say! I'm love you back
Nikko you are a Friggin god send !
You’re welcome! If you love data check out my cpap platform sleephq.com 🍻🕵🏻♂️
Thank you so much sir.
Today I bought air sense 10 and and hopefully I will sleep better with your help.
Best regards from Sweden
Thanks! Your vids have given me much more information than the health care pros that I've been seeing have.
Hi there, thanks for your very generous channel donation. It's not expected but very much appreciated. I'll take the kids out to breakfast on Saturday morning. Thank you!
My new sleep coach is Mat Damon's doppelganger. Thanks for getting me up and running on this.
Haha, cheers for that! Back when i was young i would get that a bit! Now i'm old and grey i get Jack Black bahahaha
Excellent tutorial covering ResMed AirSense 10 settings! It's indeed helpful as I began my trial with the same model today (shifting from Phillips). Thank you so much.
Wow!! Fantastic to know this, Thankyou, such a game changer for my mouth leaks, went from 4/20 down to 20/20
Wow! That's incredible. Congrats . I love reading these sorts of comments so thank you
This video is exceptional. 👏👏
My ResMed has been out for repair and it irks me having to use DS2. Will revisit this tutorial again when my machine returns. Thanks for the advanced info. My sleep centre said I am getting to much information overload. Told her I like being pro-active.
Happy Thanksgiving 🐔 I am thankful to you and your crew 🙏
This is great. The home health supply agency could not tell me how to see my full sleep report. Got it set to Plus now. Thank you so much!
I didn’t have the other info showing up in the sleep reports tab so I’m glad I’m able to see that information now. Great tutorial!
They don't tell you for a reason $$$$.
👍👍👍👍
Excellent informative video, makes crystal clear a range of issues not shown on ResMed guides etc.
Good to see you back in business !!!
I really appreciate this helpful lesson! Thank you for your great work.
Hi Steve, that's very kind of you! Glad you enjoyed the vid. All the best legend. Nicko
Cheers!!!
Great stuff mate. All the best!
Thanks, that was really helpful. Learnt a lot. Was trying to decide with my purchase whether I would upgrade to a Resmed 11, but I think I will stick to the 10 for her, as it seems easy to use the dials. I am getting sick of blue tooth devices and problems connecting.
THANK YOU! you are very knowledgeable and you explain very well. I learned a lot about my machine, things I never knew they existed.
Thank you so much for these videos. This channel has been a g-dsend since I got my cpap
You're welcome. That's really great to hear . All the best my friend. Nick
Great video. Thank you very much. Started using the airsense 19 days ago, and your videos are helping much.
Hi Doug, glad you're enjoying the channel legend. All the best with your cpap journey. Nick
Thanks Nicko. Like Leslie below, I to have not been shown these things and I really appreciate your help.
Thanks 🙏
G'day Frank, that's great to hear mate. Glad it helped in some way
Mine was set at 20 and i dropped it to 15 after having some wakeups and leaks and it worked, but now seeing this video i know i was doing the right thing and im going to drop it a little less now😊
Great stuff, thanks! Coming from a Respironics DreamStation 1, I find the Standard response setting on the Airsense 10 to be so much more gentle than the DreamStation already, I can’t quite imagine how the Soft response would be
Hi Debbie, i'm glad you enjoyed it. Best wishes mate. Nicko
Excellent presentation: nicely paced with just the right depth of information for me... Cheers 👍
Hi Nicko
Love your videos.
G'day, sounds like you're doing great! Well done . Ahhhh yes, my old friend mr crow! Get's me every time Take care legend
Thank you so much for your help in explaining all of this. My cpap supplier nor my doctor has come close to what you have taught me.
Interesting....also works on airCurve 10 ST, but obviously the fields aren't exactly the same. Nice to be able to access it.
Nice one Mark, i'm will start doing more vids for the BiPAP users this year! All the best mate
First machine. Needed your content. Appreciate your help
Cheers Rob
Great video, Nick. Quick question. I'm a bit confused by the values shown when I set the Period to 1 day. Is this last night or the night before? I ask because the AHI value shown on 1 day report typically is not the same number as what is shown in EVENTS for the ssme report. I trust I have explained the issue clearly. If anyone knows the answer, it would appreciate..
Learned things I never knew before! Awesome mate!
Nice one Paul, never stop learning brother
Great info Nick. Wish I had gotten this info from the people here in the states. They have never explained anything. I feel all they're looking for is money from me.
Glad you enjoyed the vid brother! Go and check out my platform www.sleephq.com where you can see your DETAILED DATA. It's free
Wow, best tutorial ever, thank you so much.
Thank you. It is very clear. Keep doing this work, please.
Nice one, glad you enjoyed it. Nicko
I currently have a DS1. But this really helped me understand things I never did before. Thanks Niko!
OMG, you have save me!!! i was looking from month right now, how to reset and change the setting of the machine!!
Most welcome. glad you enjoyed it
Thank you so much!
Thanks so much I will try some of these tips.
i've been struggling for ages.
Hi Jan, good luck my friend
well done probably the best video ive seen on airsense 10 Autoset so thank you .
Hey Ken, WOW! Thanks for the kind words mate
Very interesting, thank you! I learned several new tips. Well done!
Nice one Sandie, glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for the most detailed explanation on the AirSense settings. I was stugling with my new machine and the user manual says nothing about those parameters.
You are welcome!
Wow! Great info! I'm new at this (couple months) and this is very useful peak under the covers, so to speak. Thanks!
Well done Nick! Thank You for all the info !
Welcome mate
Thank you sir! I was wondering why I could not get all this information like I could on my older AS10! Just gotta push that "Plus" radio button. Shame on the tech that didn't tell me that!
I'm trying your recommendations and will let you know how they worked out. Thanks!
Thanks for this information. I learned a lot!
Glad to hear it mate. Thanks for watching
I was being blasted at night by high pressure and leaks and noise. I adjusted my max pressure and Voila! Good night sleep and therapy success. Do you talk about adjusting EPR?
Excellent and easy to understand. Thanks!!!! 👍
Excellent stuff. I thought I knew it all but I have learnt lot

Don't worry. You'll get used to it, and then it will seem very easy.
@@cremebrulee4759 thank you!! 😊
You can see # of snores and much more the next morning by importing the SD Cards nights data to the OSCAR App.
thanks, this was appreciated.
Nice one mate! Sounds like you're doing great . Keep it up
I'm catching up on your vid today ..very 👍 👍 👍.
Thanks for the info on the low pressure change!
I don't get my AHI's below 5...ever.
May change starting pressures
Glad to help Robyn, all the best mate
Great Video Nick! I was wondering if there was a place in the clinical menu where it shows the TOTAL # of hours on the machine. My last machine I had for close to 10 years and it had a significant number of hours on it. That menu was easy to access. With the ResMed, it is not readily available. Maybe you can do a companion video for that application if it exists. Thanks!
G'day friend . Yes it's in the 'ABOUT' section in the clinical menu. Cheers legend
@@CPAPReviews Thanks!
Do you offer personal 1on1 consultations? Your understanding of all things CPAP is amazing
Outstanding Information !!! Much appreciated.
welcome
GREAT info! Thank you! Hey, can you convince Resmed to get this functionallity into the AP? Would be great to do all this from my phone.
Hey mate, the myAIR app is pretty shit. Check out www.sleephq.com which is my platform. It will soon be an app also
Great way to show the screen on your new videos thanks mate

Another great video. I’ve learned so much from you. I can’t thank you enough!
Hi Debbie, that's very kind of you. Thanks!
This is a great video, thanks for posting!
What is the essentials setting for? How does plus differ from standard? Does exposing this special menu possibly void your warranty?
Thanks very much.
Learn something new every day thanks
Glad to hear it
Wondering if I should play with these settings as I also have COPD
NO!!!! Please do bring it up with your sleep and respiratory specialist next time you see them though
hi there, in the Essentials menu, what's the difference between on and plus? Great video by the way👍
