This is just my opinion, gugwes, I believe, came from the far north, where there weren’t a lot of plants to eat, so, they are carnivorous. They seem to have migrated slowly south through eastern Canada into the United States, then down the Mississippi River Valley. They seem to have canine teeth and kind of a muzzle. I’ve heard they were aggressive and always hungry, but not very numerous ‘down here’. Usually black in color. This is just what I’ve been able to put together from what I’ve heard and seen on different shows on the Internet. Mainly YT. I don’t know of a tie in with any Indian tribe, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one.
