Printed this about three months ago and finally got around to installing today. First print was an articulated millipede. My cleanest print ever! Thank you!
Glad it worked out!
Tip: tighten your nozzle fully when it's hot. As metal expands when heated it means that there is a change for ever so tiny crevices to appear for the filament to leak out of again when printing. Also; you should generally require less force which reduces risk of damaging threads. General tip is 250-275c, but YMMV :)
I don't own an SV06 but from some videos I've watched, put Klipper on the SV06 and the cooling becomes the limiting factor for print quality and print speed. With more cooling, good quality parts can be printed faster with Klipper and input shaping.
freaking excellent work and remix. going to do this as one of my first prints, I only just got my printer today 22 Nov already have a heap of mods downloaded to print up to make things nicer.
thank you so much for uploading and all your skills going to improving the machine.
printed and waiting to be able to order the fan and then install. did mine in white for pizazz!
i have been dealing with my sovol 06 plus printer just having the BEST time with pushing filament everywhere it shouldn't so i've been researching fans and cooling etc and this video was so helpful (and funny) -- thank you for taking the time to make it. now just to find some printables for the 06plus :)
Thank you! I just got a 2nd hand SV06 for $80 and just got in my 5015 fans today.
Nice, that's a good price!
I just ordered a sv06. My forst experience in 3d printing. New sub here. Great video!

I just pulled apart my neptune 3 pro because of the worst failure I had ever woken up to. Yup, leaking through the threads and building up under the sock. Got new nozzles, heat breaks, heating blocks, thermistor and heating elements incoming. What a horrible surprise.
Oh no.. I feel for you. I've had it happen a couple times over the years. Always a pain 😤
Nicely done. Stop by Harbor Freight and pick up their cheap 3 pack of tiny WIRE Bristle Brushes, as they are perfect to clean either a fouled nozzle like that, or simply a good nozzle with some crispy buildup on the outside. The filament bits they pull off almost immediately cool and can be pulled off the bristles, so should last a lifetime.
Will be going this route and for the same reason you did. thanks
Cool, I appreciate the tip!
Thank you for sharing . loading it all down now ! I fitted stepper mounted dampers cheap and VERY affective !! Good luck and make sure you get everything in Print !! :-)
Excellent work. 👍
This is awesome dawg.
Thank you for your updates. I am still figuring out which upgrades I want for my sv06. Ordered some lm8uu iko Ball bearings, but a new fan, with a nozzle looks like a great next step.
You got a mk8 nozzle?
Keep up the good work and greetings from the Netherlands.
Thank you! Yes, mine are hardened steel mk8 nozzles. I don't know the prices all the way in the Netherlands, but they have dropped considerably in the US.
Just a few years ago, I couldn't find one cheaper than $30, now I have 5 for roughly $6.
The fan is a great upgrade for better quality overhangs and faster prints. Definitely worth looking into at some point.
I appreciate you watching!
Fantastic videos you have! After having the worst customer service from Sovol I upgraded for completely the hotend on mine with different parts from Aliexpress and made 2 adapters for heater and thermistor, it resulted cheaper and a lot better than buying the original one. Let me know if you are interested. Greetings from Germany!
Greetings!
I haven't had an issue with mine, but I would be interested in seeing what you did. :)
@@Avel See your Email ;)
Hallo Nicole, mich würde es auch interessieren was du für Upgrade’s gemacht hast 😊
Beste Grüße Wolfi
@@wolfi5124 Hallo! Also teilen Sie bitte Ihre E-Mail! 😁
@@Nicole.Granzow wie kann ich das machen ohne sie hier öffentlich zu posten 🤔😅🙈
Going to print this now, can't install until my new nozzle comes in as I'm running a V6 CHT nozzle on it right now, got my MK8 cht clone coming tomorrow. I barely get enough clearance as it is with the V6
I have just watched the video and will also be fitting an additional fan. You have described everything very well, but where do I have to connect the cable from the additional fan? Is there a free slot for the cable in the "head" of the Sovol SV06?
Once you splice the original fan's plug onto the new fan, you just plug it back into where you unplugged it.
You're removing one fan and replacing it with another.
What are the differents between the original fan and fanduct, 4020 and 5015 fans? And could u compare them to each other with other fanducts?
nice!!
Jesus, that intro needs a seizure warning. Nice video though! just ordered a 5015 fan to upgrade my SV06.
You give me a Marty Stauffer vibe
Hahaha, are you talking about that guy who narrated nature videos? 🤣
I admit, I was a bit more monotone than usual in this one. Looong day.
did you print it with supports?
No supports.
reason it was stringy was because of the horrible stock fan this thing comes with. great video
Thank you for the great video. It's working great except for the rear left corner when the duct hits the bed stop and alters the nozzle height. The duct itself is pretty close to 0 to begin with. I use the full bed of this printer often and so I may have to change up the stock bed cable holder/bed stop. Do you have the same issue?
Hmm.. Are you using it on the SV06 Plus? The SV06 doesn't have bed stops. At least, mine doesn't. I don't know if they've made alterations since I bought mine back in March.
Will I need the klipper to print fast? Or is the klipper just quality of life?
The Klipper Screen gives you the ability to print fast, yes. It takes your stock printing speed from 80mm/s to 250mm/s
@@Avelthank you
Is here someone who has fixed the auto-z-align-problem with the SOVOL SV06?
Everytime I start the "Auto Z-align" the printer starts moving, stops and the display shows "Driver error: PRINTER HALTED please reset". I already installed the latest firmware from a new micro-SD-card, but i never got farther than the Auto Z-align
Cool design!
Do you feel this changed the noise level of the printer?
I usually slice with the fan speed around 40-60%, at those speeds it's not that big of a difference. But if you leave it at 100%, it's noticeably louder than stock.
@@Avel im running mine at 80% and i cant tell any difference just buy a good quailty 5051 brushless fan 24 volt the cheap ones are louder
Does the part referenced in the video work on an SV06 Plus?
GAFFA TAPE 🤣🤣
really cool design !
the only grip i have with these design is how unreliable it makes the printing experience as most of the time i will see my print fail because the fan duct scrapped the print off the bed because of how close it it to the nozzle, what has been your experience ?
Thanks! I know what you mean, I had that problem when I was picking out a duct for the CR-6 SE. The first design I picked knocked over a couple prints.
So far so good on this one. I'm not saying it's the best option out there, and I'm sure as time goes on more and better designs will come out. But this certainly met my needs.
@@Avel great to hear !
I've been using a Satsan or whatever their called currently on my ender 3v2 and its been pretty good, beforehand i was using a silent duct that was really close to the nozzle and i had to scrap off quit a lot to get it to fail less, was really not ideal...
Next project now is to enclose it...i changed my PTFE tube for a Capricorn and its smelling bad, no more clogging tho...will add HEPA and an active carbon filter to the enclosure (internal circulation) and a regulation temperature fan also with the same filter... Will probably use an Ikea lake table and seal off any crack in table to make it airtight.
This design is high enough not to knock your print off the bed just make sure its seated at the back when installing it i put a line of hot glue at the top of the mount to the carriage on the rails the blue plastic piece just to make sure it does not move this upgrade works very well and does not cost a lot.
Hi. Nice made video! I will try to make this upgrade in future 😊 Could you please share your profiles for SV06? I'm trying to fix printing issues but with my changes quality dropped even worse 😢
Thanks!
I actually have had great results just using the MK3s profile in PrusaSlicer. You'll have to change some printer settings (bed size, retraction settings..etc.) and remove a couple lines of opening GCode. Other than that, I just use their filament profiles already in the slicer for now.
@@Avel thank you. I probably have something more going on wrong in my printer cause I was using Prusa mk3s profile as you suggested with all changes...
@@gz625 Sorry to hear about that. Have you tried joining and posting in the Sovol group on Facebook? There's a lot of helpful people there.
What's going on with the printer? Maybe I or someone here can help you out, too.
The MK3s profile has been working incredibly for me as well
I'm struggling to find a decent flow 24v fan thats reasonablly quiet for this mod, it's a minefield
yea, I was wandering the optimum speed vs CFM ratio myself.
did somebody tried this mod on a sv06 plus ?
I've seen a few mention that it doesn't fit on the Plus. I think they mentioned it hits the build plate guides.
Does this happen to fit the SV06 Plus? I know the hot end is a little different but I don’t know if these mounting points changed.
From the comments I've seen, they are different so unfortunately this won't work with the Plus.
I assume this would be the same for the 6 plus, correct? It’s my first sovol printer and I’m working out the kinks.
I'm not positive the dimensions are the same. I vaguely remember seeing somewhere that it's bigger on the Plus, but I can't find it now. I would ask Sovol directly if they're exact, or someone who has both printers. (There's a few I've seen on forums.)
The 6 plus uses longer nozzles and it probably will not fit.
@@lshallo4864 Thanks for the info!
i found that duct did not work very well, even after manually going thru the original step and expanding the ducts. are you still using that one?
Yeah, I'm still using the same one I printed in the video. I haven't had any issues, though, I've seen mixed reviews here and there.
I just did the mod and I have a weird question does the blower turn on right away once you turn on the printer because I can see the side fan working only as of right now
No, mine only turns on around the 4th layer of a print, due to my slicer settings.
Thank you I never paid attention to these things before the mod lol
yo whats the ball stress test atthe beginging of the video

@@Avel thanks
is it more quiet than the original fan?
You can set the fan % to change the volume. Around 40-60% it's about as quiet with still more airflow, but at 100% it's quite louder. The trade-off being more airflow.
printed this in PC but required a lot of sanding and unreliable. the mounts on the back didn't fit.
